When people say that album flows better than most grindcore albums, they were not kidding. I can't remember the last time I've listened to a grindcore album front to back and still wanted more.

edit: maybe they did but he wasn't singing so it didnt matter. i wish a kind soul would have given them a delay pedal to plug into their 4-track

I think a lot of people slept on this because it came out the week pandemic lockdown started and everyone was in a panic, but Irist's Order of the Mind is a really solid debut. They're South American (Brazil/Argentina/Chile) but based in Atlanta now, and they get a lot of Gojira and early Mastodon comparisons. I'm looking forward to hearing more from them.

This is really good, thank you. If you like Gorija, you'll like this.

Basically, he’s been in satanic metal bands for the last 30 years. Sicilian catholic parenting goes a little too far I guess.

My top 10 of the year, I think:

Ulcerate - Stare Into Death and Be Still
Oranssi Pazuzu - Mestarin kynsi
Emma Ruth Rundle & Thou - May Our Chambers Be Full
Faceless Burial - Speciation
Couch Slut - Take a Chance on Rock ‘n’ Roll (arguably more of a very heavy noise rock album)
Imperial Triumphant - Alphaville
Warp Chamber - Implements of Excruciation
Esoctrilihum - Eternity of Shaog
Nechochwen/Panopticon split
Havukruunu - Uinuos syömein sota

And some other great ones:
Defeated Sanity - The Sanguinary Impetus
Black Curse - Endless Wound
Spectral Lore & Mare Cognitum - Wanderers: Astrology of the Nine
VoidCeremony - Entropic Reflections Continuum: Dimensional Unravel
Boris - No
Deftones - Ohms
Pyrrhon - Abscess Time
END - Splinters From an Ever Changing Face
Of Feather and Bone - Sulfuric Disintegration
Ulthar - Providence

Did anyone else like the new Sepultura album at all? I've only bought 3 Sepultura albums in my life: Roots, Dante XXI, and Morbid Visions/Bestial Devastation, and only liked MV/BD. I never bothered to really listen to the rest of the stuff even though I'm sure I'd like the other old stuff. So I was kinda surprised when I enjoyed the new one.

Obviously it's a completely different band from Morbid Visions, but the vocals and music don't seem at odds with each other like they did every other time I checked out the Derrick Green stuff.

It kinda sounds like what I would want a Lamb of God album to sound like in 2020.

I hated the first two Derrick Green albums, took an almost twenty year break from all their post early-90s material, stumbled upon a video of Eloy Casagrande being insanely good a year or two ago, and then realized I didn't hate them anymore. I thought Machine Messiah was alright, and Quadra checks most of the same boxes for me. Not sure if they're just a better overall band now than two decades ago or if I just appreciate hardcore vocals way more than I used to, though. Probably the latter, since I like Derrick's vocals significantly more than (any era of) Max's at this point.

Bitching about probes of lovely posts will not make the posts less shittier. I've made it pretty clear that I'm not gonna put up with slurs being thrown around on this forum and there are infinite other, funnier ways to insult someone if you're gonna make lame white noise posts that don't even include Sepultura's earlier work.
