There is a Detroit date and I am loving excited. One of my favorite bands that I have never had the chance to see live.

I am just getting into Devin recently, and I listened to the whole new album on the way home today. It's loving nuts. I dig it.

Hello metal thread.

Thin Lizzy is basically my favorite thing right now. I have pretty much listened to everything they ever did. What else is "Thin Lizzy-esque"?

Slough Feg has a new album coming out on the 21st. This song and a cover the Police's Synchronicity II(odd choice) are all that I can seem to find from it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM4gDrU4tlg

I am going to see them tomorrow, and I am super excited. Anyone else catching them on this tour? They really don't tour much at all, so I was pumped they had a Detroit date.

Anyone else going tomorrow?

Is it just me or does the production sound like you're sitting at a bar drinking while they are playing in the room next door?

It does sound kind of muddled. From what I can tell they just released a single with two songs on it, and that's probably someones rip of it that may or may not have had an effect on the sound. It's not an official YouTube account or anything.

I bought the CD at their show last week, it does indeed sound way better than that single that was floating around.

Pretty solid album. Not their best work but it's not terrible either. Kind of middle of the road.

I really like the old Opeth a lot. They are what got me into metal with growling vocals.

Their new stuff is just super boring to me. That new song sounds like every other boring thing they have done lately.

At least when you go see them live they play a couple of old songs.

Oh well! Time to block out my Outlook calendar for the day.

I've listened to all three thus far, but this new Gatecreeper is the one that demands an immediate repeat listen. Nothing necessarily ground breaking about it, but there are some drat solid Dismember, Entombed and Obituary riffs packed into this one. I also didn't recall his voice sounding this much like John Tardy's on their previous albums either. Good stuff!

Also, I knew that at least one these guy played in Spirit Adrift, but it turns out 3/4 of the band is in Gatecreeper too?!?! Man, that's two solid albums this group have put out in 2019.

Edit: Yeah, all three of these albums are solid, but new ones from Tomb Mold, Witch Vomit and Creeping Death are still scratching my death metal itch at the moment.

I saw Spirit Adrift open for Slough Feg awhile back. Had never heard of them, and the whole time they were playing me and buddy kept talking about how the bass player looked just like the singer from Gatecreeper. We Googled it and had a good laugh. They are really fun live too.

Chase (the singer from Gatecreeper/bass player in Spirit Adrift ) gave me a fist bump and point at my Gatecreeper shirt later that night too :discourse:

Can't wait to listen to the new Gatecreeper album.

Just popping in late to the party to say that the new Necrot album is a loving banger.

I had never heard of them until last year, saw them open for Gatecreeper and Exhumed back in November in Hamtramck, MI. They are awesome live and super friendly in person. Wish I bought a shirt there. I spent all my cash that night on Gatecreeper merch and beer.

edit: maybe they opened for Suffocation the night before? I forget. Drunk metal weekend. Was good either way
