Even though I played New Vegas when it originally came out on the 360, and a good chunk of the DLC (Dead Money, best DLC for Fallout ever), I never got around to playing Lonesome Road. Last week I finally reached it in my current play through and I have to say I'm a bit disappointed with the overall conclusion to this 'mystery'. The Divide is equally interesting as it is boring, it's largely a linear path and there's nearly zero reason to do any exploring. Ulysses was this mysterious figure that you were 'chasing' for 4 DLCs and in the end he just ends up being some deranged lunatic who wants to throw nukes around as some sort of payback for something I didn't even know I did.

Which, by the way, is probably the most disappointing thing of all. Out of nowhere you get hit with this story about how the Courier themselves caused the disaster in the Divide, even though you haven't heard anything about it until then. It all feels very disconnected.

Did I just miss some vital part of this story arc or is this really all there is to it?

Ulysses is a very "avellone" character, and if you know what that means, you'll already know if you hate him or not.

Any other examples of 'Avellone' characters? I'm curious now if I can find the resemblance in them.

Okay so I've downloaded and reinstalled this. Whats the go to mods I should install now a days?

If anything, get Fallout Character Overhaul. It gives all the major characters and a good portion of the generic NPC's amazing looking head models/textures. There's tons of guides out there for graphic overhauls too, but in short; get NMC's textures and install Ojo Bueno on top of it.

As for mods that actually add great content to the game:

Get Willow as a companion and make Novac your home.

The New Bison Steve mod allows you to rebuild the Bison Steve hotel, get it up and running and make a tidy profit from the casino once it's fully restored. Less Empty Primm goes nicely along side it and turns Primm into a proper settlement.

Autumn Leaves is a great quest mod that focuses on puzzle and riddle solving that takes place entirely in a vault just outside of Novac.

Oh, and get F4QuickLoot. It gives you the quickloot system from Fallout 4 in New Vegas and it works like a loving charm.

Willow is cringey as gently caress, don't get the Willow mod.

EDIT: by which I mean she's a purestrain waifu mod.

I guess it can be, but it doesn't have to be. There is the option to make her nude and sex her and all that stuff, but you can just as easily turn it down when it comes to that.

IMO Willow is a great companion with a decent (be it not very deep) backstory and offers a whole bunch of side quests and fun content. I care very little for the whole romance branch in her quest line, and I still enjoyed running around the Mojave with her.

The same author also made a companion mod for Fallout 4 called Heather, which admittedly toned down the 'waifu' stuff quite a bit as far as I can tell.
