Is 2.5 going to bring back the VAs to dub the extra cutscenes from 2's Final Mix? When I played the PS2 version they felt really weird for having no voices. EDIT: This made me wonder, does the japanese version of 1.5 and 2.5 have english or japanese voices? It'd be weird for the japanese players too if the only version with japanese voices was the original PS2 release. maou shoujo fucked around with this message at 23:37 on Jun 14, 2014 |

The Japanese version of 1.5 and 2.5 have Japanese voice acting, yeah. And as we mentioned before, those extra cutscenes in the original KHIIFM had Japanese voice acting (playable in Theatre mode) and are redubbed in English for 2.5 ReMIX. They showed one in the trailer.

Just got to the Stealth Sneak fight in my EXP Zero run of Kingdom Hearts. Clayton just shot me immediately and I died. What a real-rear end way to go. Is Critical in KHII this bad? I just feel like I'd do so much better in KHI EXP Zero if I had, well, more options I guess. I mean, so far my attack arsenal involves shooting magic from a distance, a three-hit combo, and rolling. It was pretty fun on Destiney Island, since it's easier to read enemy attacks so you could time your parries, plus you never were in the middle of herds of enemies. Every encounter is a mob of enemies that could kill you in 2-3 hits, which can be a pain since some enemies could be off-screen. Trickmaster was pretty fun to fight, since you can read when it will attack, and you have some cover to hide behind. All the other bosses... eh. It feels like you can't really beat them without exploiting their AI in some way or something. It's just kinda dumb hard where victory is a crapshoot, and not fun hard where you can win by learning the enemy. Maybe I just suck. Maybe Dark Souls just spoiled me.

It's a bad boss, but it's pretty easy. Stealth Sneak is insanely slow and so long as you remind under his upper half he can't do much to you, even his eye lasers are easy as poo poo to reflect.

Proud Mode Clayton is pretty much the hardest main-story fight in the game because he's just stupidly strong and you don't have Cure. He's just unpleasant. Once you get past him the game will become much easier very quickly.

Giant Ursula's not exactly a cakewalk on Expert. I remembered her being so loving tough because there's very little in the way of things to against her that are safe aside from trying to stay behind her head. Eventually she'll get you with her lightning attack though and that attack just shits on you even with Aero.

I did a Magic build in 1.5 and on Expert it will save your life. You get a lot of MP very quickly and once you get Cure things are a lot easier to handle. I kind of wish Second Chance was just integrated into the combat system itself. gently caress that entire Altantica level just make it stop

I played 1.5 without realizing they changed the order you get your skills in so I chose the wand because I always want to get Scan as early as possible and ended up having to fight Sephiroth, Ice Titan, and Unknown without Second Chance.

I'm still trying to beat Clayton and Stealth Sneak with EXP Zero. I don't think I've ever been this mad at a video game in a long time. First you have to beat the poo poo out of Clayton while avoiding a herd of Power Wilds. Usually I just knock Clayton over to the entrance and wail on him, but even then it's a crapshoot as to whether the Power Wilds will come over and group-gently caress me or not. Your allies are completely useless in both fights, but Tarzan at least can heal. Except he'll only heal you if he's not busy healing himself or Chucklefuck 2, and if it's the right day of the week and time of the day. I saw a video where someone beat Clayton really easily with EXP Zero on. They wailed on Stealth Sneak, and once Clayton jumped off, they fira'd him over to the highest cliff. Clayton hopped up, and they went over there and stunlocked him until he was dead. I tried the same thing, but there were a few annoying wrenches that hosed every thing. On my first attempt, the loving Stealth Sneak decided to join the party and hopped on over, forcing me to hop off and eventually get lasered. In the second and third attempts, Clayton decided he had places to be and loving teleported back onto that goddamn lizard, forcing me to go down there and also eventually die. The biggest problem is that no matter how much I wail on him, Clayton Will Not Die. How much health does this rear end-gently caress have? Are potions FULL HEALS for him!? EXP Zero gets fun after this, right guys? Right???

Basically, Potions do pretty much recover his HP by a lot. Almost his max, if I recall correctly. Clayton is an rear end in a top hat.

Even though most of us rarely bothered I assume, Donald and Goofy do have behavior modifiers that make them only slightly less prone to using all their items and MP immediately upon encountering a battle.

# ? Jun 15, 2014 16:26 |

They do, but it's not going to matter because usually Donald and Goofy will end up knocked out in no time flat. You're pretty much soloing most of the bosses in a Zero EXP run.

I have watched a tool-assisted speedrun of the japanese version, and funny enough the voices were the most interesting part to see. Disney of Japan did a good job of getting VAs who sound just like the english originals. Donald and Goofy in particular are hilarious to listen to.

Killing Stealth Sneak is required for the fight, yes. And, if possible, it might be a good idea to get Sonic Blade before fighting him and Clayton.

I really wish Birth by Sleep was included in I.5 HD Remix, partially because it would make sense timeline-wise since it's a prequel, and also because Kingdom Hearts I feels so clunky now. I've started a Proud playthrough, but I feel that the combat just isn't any fun until you have a decent number of abilities. I should try Chain of Memories, but I prefer the action focus of the later games to thinking about which card would be best for each situation. It would also mean that II.5 HD Remix could also have Dream Drop Distance, which feels left out now that every other game in the series (besides the upcoming Kingdom Hearts III) is playable on the PS3 in 1080p, or at least in cutscene format. It might have been left out due to the sheer number of features that revolved around the 3DS' second screen/touch screen, which 368/2 Days and Re:Coded didn't have to adapt since they're just cutscenes, or just because they can still sell it at a decent price on the 3DS. It's going to be a long six month wait to play my favourite two games in HD (although II Final Mix on PCSX2 was pretty much perfect, besides a few untranslated tutorial screens, and PSP emulation is extremely good now). It's just too bad that there isn't a better way to play Dream Drop Distance, although the whole monster raising aspect puts me off replaying it. Kingdom Hearts has at least made the wait for Final Fantasy XV more bearable, but if Kingdom Hearts III manages to combine everything I liked about the series without anything it's dragged it down, then it would have been worth the wait.

I finally beat Clayton, though I didn't have Sonic Blade at the time. He's actually really easy when you realize you can kill Stealth Sneak, but I feel like blasting Light Up The Night in the background had an affect on that. Cloud was pretty fun to fight, and Cerberus is actually much easier than I remember. You can't be greedy attacking Cerberus, you just have to hit on of its heads once or twice during the chomping attacks, then roll away before either going back for another hit, or start running around when it shoots its fire balls or summons darkness from the ground.

If you're doing an XP Zero run for fun then you're doing it wrong. XP Zero runs are for people who hate themselves but want to prove their Kingdom Hearts cred. quote:Is Critical in KHII this bad? XP Zero? Yes. You haven't played KH2 until you've gotten your rear end nailed to the wall by Shan-Yu and his stupid falcon two dozen times.

Oh, no, not EXP Zero Critical, just regular Critical. But speaking of EXP Zero, in my 1.5 run, I've gotten up to the tiger head thing in Agrabah. I'm not really stuck or anything, I'm just getting kind of bored. Fights don't really feel engaging anymore. I just stay the gently caress out of the way, maybe use Sonic Blade to clear up the field, and then attack the boss of the hour whenever I can. Then if I slip up and die, I don't get motivated to really try my hardest the topple the boss, like with Clayton. I just kind of groan about having to start over. I'm considering stopping and just playing through a regular game, but I'm also having second thoughts about that because any KH cred I have will diminish rapidly.

Both XP zero and regular Critical start out controller-throwingly frustrating but get easier the further into the game you are.

Hobgoblin2099 posted:So it's the reverse of a normal playthrough? It's mostly because early in the game you're either closer in level to who you're fighting (which matters if you're doing an XP Zero run) or you don't have a bunch of defensive abilities like Second Chance or Once More and will be getting constantly one shot by everything including random Heartless.
