Whorelord posted:there any hollywood forever/ideal husband style songs? Not really? Most songs vacillate between the slow emotional style like Two Wildly Different Perspectives and Ballad of the Dying Man, with that song being what I'd say is the closest to what you're wanting.

I don't know about the new album as I haven't listened to it enough but Japandroids on the Celebration Rock tour back in 2013 at the High Top in Memphis before it closed was one of the greatest small venue shows of my life. Blew the doors of the place

CRINDY posted:saw Papa John's Misty last night and came away very, very impressed. i'd seen him at a few festivals, but man, the Pure Comedy stuff works really well in the live setting, especially one as intimate as Brooklyn Steel (which is the most Bowery concert hall I've ever seen, but honestly a good venue). only Magic Mountain was kind of exhausting, everything else was pretty incredible. i wasn't planning on complaining because i got my favorite two Misty tracks, Ideal Husband and I'm Writing A Novel, but it was a legitimately great show in retrospect. I'm tempted to try and see him in Nashville this fall after going to see him both times he was in Tennessee for the ILYHB tour. Sad to hear Magic Mountain was tedious live, it's my favorite song on the album just about so far but I can see how it could get tiring listening to it live. Does he do the full version of Leaving LA live?

T Bowl posted:That video was cool, but yeah, it's an hour his shows? Kinda weak for how much people are paying to see him IMO. He could throw in another 4-5 songs from his earlier work and make it really worthwhile. This is a very good idea. Saw him last week in Nashville and it was wonderful. He really is great working with the crowd. I'm confident if he'd been born 50 years ago he'd be a lounge singer. Also don't gently caress up like me and not bring cash for the merch stand. And stay for the rendition of Crazy Town's Butterfly and Enter the Sandman for the encore

On another note, I'm not hugely into Vulfpeck but this new one they put out today got stuck in my head.
