new Battles album in the next few weeks so just a mindfuck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpGp-22t0lU This is now 12 years old. The gap between that album and now is the same as the gap between that album and Pulp's Different Class or Radiohead's The Bends.

the only real Grimes Miss Anthropocene is the deluxe edition because the remixes arent evebn remixes but just extendeds and also includes We Appreciate Power

Rageaholic posted:Wait We Appreciate Power isn't on the standard edition? The gently caress? That's one of the best songs! Broke: Grimes made We Appreciate Power as a vaccine to the masses against Roko's Basilisk. Woke: She made it Deluxe Edition only so if you don't get the deluxe edition you're damned for literally eternity of suffering.

See also: them being the last bastion of hyping Lil Peep because they thought Emo Trap was the future. It was not. Seriously in what universe is the atrocious Hellboy EP got the same rating or better than Danny Brown's Atrocity Exhibition that came out that same year.

I've seen CHVRCHES live four times nad every time has been slightly worse than the time previous, and it isn't the band its the crowds. I don't know what happened at album three but it seemed like they got a lot of new fans who didn't listen to anything but that album and thus are absolutely dead for all the stuff before that. Likewise the venues got progressively bigger but the atmosphere got worse.

I’m not not a feminist – but there has to be a place in feminism for women who look and act like me – the kind of woman who says no but men hear yes – the kind of women who are slated mercilessly for being their authentic, delicate selves, the kind of women who get their own stories and voices taken away from them by stronger women or by men who hate women.

Hours later, images surfaced showing that musicians Ariel Pink and John Maus were in attendance. On a private Instagram account, filmmaker Alex Lee Moyer posted a photo in which she appeared to be sitting on a hotel room bed with Maus and Pink, later reposted on Twitter. Moyer tagged the post's location in Washington DC and captioned it: "The day we almost died but had a great time instead." In an Instagram Story on the same account, Moyer posted a video showing Maus standing outside the Capitol.

if you can't enjoy Carly Rae Jepsen, Charli XCX, Billie Eilish, Lorde, or the 90s output of Kylie Minogue then you're outside the gates of heaven looking in also we're due for a Sophisti-Pop renaissonce. I've spent a lot of time recently listening to Everything but the Girl and they ruled.

Also, how the gently caress you say that and not mention Robyn? ok this is a confession I have to make I never listened to Robyn and I had a very very weird reason for this - for some reason I confused Robyn with La Roux and specifically La Roux's song Bulletproof annoyed the poo poo out of me. Up until last year I did not realise the mistake I had made and thus had missed Robyn's entire career thinking she was La Roux. edit: i should've also mentioned Sophie Ellis-Bextor who as far as pure pop gets is like so loving great and i love her Lid fucked around with this message at 01:34 on Jan 21, 2021 |

Also is Foo Fighters (and specifically the first three albums) the only music from that entire period you can state had any merit? Sir Lemming posted:That period meaning roughly 1995-2000? Yeah, I guess that was pretty bleak depending on what you were into. (Confession, I did enjoy nu-metal at the time.) You did have stuff like Ben Folds, Beck, and the one who started this discussion, Björk. Also No Doubt, I guess Oasis, a little bit of Radiohead (in my liiiife) It went well beyond that well into the 2000s with guys like Nickelback, post metal era incubus, Audioslave, Hoobastank and the worst of them all Theory of a Deadman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfnAOcBirAs Specifically post-grunge wasn't an era where we were discussing just the poppification of genres (rap being Nelly, punk being Sum 41) but the dominant rock genre of that era. No Doubt have their roots in ska, Oasis were part of britpop, Radiohead were all over the place, none were post grunge. Lid fucked around with this message at 04:13 on Jan 29, 2021 |
