I hadn't heard a word about the movie when I first saw this trailer and I was totally blown away. Brilliant.

Edit: Of course, the trailer I saw had no subtitles in the end and the prawn's face was blurred out, but I couldn't find that one on youtube.

I loveeeeeeed the ad campaign for District 9. It didn't give any information about the movie besides "There are aliens here, they can't leave, they're separated from humans." It really drew me into the movie. I was there, opening day, with my rear end in a seat.

I really enjoyed the trailer. The set pieces look absolutely fantastic, and so do the visuals in general. I'll agree that Leo is throwing me off from Gatsby a bit, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Mulligan and McGuire look perfect, though, and I'm really happy to see Joel Edgerton getting more work. I think he'll be able to pull off Tom really well.

All in all, I'm very excited. Gatsby is one of my favorite books.

So not only are Warner Bros. removing that Gangster Squad trailer and cutting a new one, they're also completely removing that scene from the movie and doing re-shoots.

Which is ridiculous.

The very first movie is more of a straight horror film

No, it's absolutely a straight horror movie, not "more of." There are horrifying elements to the original. The only reason people think back and freak out that this new one is straight-up intense horror is because they're thinking of Evil Dead II, or thinking that because it was so low budget and some of the effects and whatnot are cheesy nowadays that it is less of a horror movie, when it isn't.

edit- Also, Aatrek, get on that poo poo! It's on Netflix last time I checked.

The first Evil Dead was meant to be taken seriously but the low production value and no-name actors translated into a movie that's hard to take seriously. I don't think there's any intentional humor in ED but I sure as hell giggled at a few scenes including the tree rape.
Exactly, that's what I'm trying to say. Because of all of these factors (as well as the sequels), people are outcrying and saying that this is an abomination to Evil Dead, when it really, really isn't.

The thus far perfect record of remakes of 70s/80s horror movies being irredeemable poo poo is in no danger of being sullied.

Congratulations. Just because you don't find a woman slicing her own tongue in half, then snowballing it with another woman scary or disgusting doesn't mean that the rest of the world doesn't.
