Opportunistic shitheads use jingoistic populism to get re-elected and when the new Palestianian rockets finally hit Tel Aviv, Benny and his cronies will cheer, because that will get panicing people to vote for loving Likud. My point is that they are actively segregating and attempting to destroy the Palestinian population. They've successfully convinced their own countrymen that Israel is simply "better" than Palestine. If I could find the graphs that showed what the average Israelan believed about the average Palestine, I'd post it, but I can't dig it up right now, so I just have to hope you've seen it as well. The Israeli state are utter tyrants, is the point. They've managed to convince a nation that the Palestine state shouldn't be. The reason the comparison is important and not just a "Goodwin" is because the occupation of Palestinian lands and the acts of terror against the Palestinian population bear such striking resemblances to the neo-nazi actions against "non-Aryan" populations that we've seen in countries like South Africa. It's gone beyond the hyperbolic comparison to the striking reality. The apartheid against the Palestinian population is real, the propaganda is real. They are not trying to take over the world, but the crimes of the Nazis were not limited to that idea. Their crimes were many, and the moment Israel commits any of them is a moment you have to realize that something has gone wrong. One very important part of realizing just how terrible the Nazi regime was, is to realize how many terrible things they did and not focus on the "obvious" like the holocaust and their drive to take over the world. I completely accept that my comparisons to the Nazi regime might be accepted negatively, but I believe that there is a point where the comparisons become apt.

Things are heating up in Mali. Mr. Stingly posted:"These people" actually comprises all Americans, and we've behaved that way since the very beginning. There's an idea that we have only been insufferably smug and proud since the end of the 2nd World War. I would have though the same thing if not for Alexis de Tocqueville's Democracy in America. There are a couple hilarious passages where he relates his irritation at being constantly harrassed by Americans; to confirm for them that America is the greatest country in the world. If he said some other place was nice, they'd bug him to say but surely, America's things are better. All that in 1830. Well it's always good to hear that things are worse than you thought. And you know, I'm not some rear end in a top hat misanthropist. I'm an optimist, and I hope you'll settle in before an eon has passed, but I also hope that every single day before that is filled with people telling, implying, discussing, joking, debating, and proving that you're not the best; it needs to sink in. If you accept the role as an irresponsible child, you should be treated as such. Burn a flag, yell at a soldier, film the police, breastfeed in public, just do something to gently caress with the status quo.

"The institutions that made America great must be destroyed." This kind of sentiment is too loving stupid. Slavery, imperialism, capitalism and rampant, catastrophic deregulation leading to massive environmental damage has made a lot of countries great (in the sense that that they have a higher GDP, higher quality of living for anyone not caught under the boot and a higher degree of technological progress). The western world wouldn't have been what it was if it wasn't for colonialism. Institutions are torn down all the time (and then they rise again in a different form), and rightly so. Really; if the result of every traditional American institution's downfall was a better world, then tear the fuckers down. Nationalistic sentimentality is sickening. Someone wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a heavy bag was overheard saying something threatening on a bus in Oslo. Police have surrounded important buildings and are searching buses and taxies I can say with absolute certainty that no pickups will be accidentally riddled with bullets by Norwegian police.
