Now that I've listened to this week's ACOCO, I don't know if I want to see Django Unchained. Before that, all I knew about it was that I saw a poster for it at the theatre. Clearly, I have my fingers on the movie scene pulse.

So the good people at Spill had a blast with Jack Reacher. They said it did what the Borne movies did even better and that Cruise is channeling that same kind of intense sociopathy of his character Vincent from Collateral. I'm excited for this film now.

ok so Kat is a lot hotter than I thought. No wonder her stories drag on, none of her geek friends never had the courage to tell her to get to the point. " I was walking down the street and..I think I was wearing brown shoes...or were the black..well anyways I go into the store and I see something so..." it goes nowhere soon after. Also Peter and his girlfriend are the worst. his chick is an alpha female who's very well opinionated but not all that smart and peter annoys me with his weird inane hangups with things. I remember the captain america..the incorrect buckles or whatever the gently caress..if I were in that room I would have just yelled " WHO GIVES A gently caress ABOUT THE GOD drat BUCKLES". Like that cyrus is back and like remote viewing the most now. Although luke and brian are kind of naive , white knightish dweebs, I do enjoy the banter bike and fourth with cyrus.

So I listen to Spill while playing League of Legends and I decided to revisit the post-election Let's Do This!!! [url=http://spill.com/Podcasts/Listen.aspx?audioId=1415here.[/url] The funny begins at about 18:30: where Korey, Co-Host, and Billy all immitate Elmo while commenting on the Kevin Clash scandal. "No ID requried! Ha ha ha!" "Elmo had nothing to do with his rear end!" "You keep Elmo out out this bullshit: I ain't done poo poo! Elmo trying to get paid!"

Congrats to Spill and The Beerists for both winning Podcast Awards (do those awards actually mean anything?) Also, this year's Spill.Con is going to be held as part of Rooster Teeth's convention. I guess its good in a way that it will attract more people but hopefully the Spill stuff won't get pushed aside since their audience is considerably smaller than RT.

I didn't like Inglorious Basterds because I feel that movies about killing Nazis is not much different from killing zombies; the only difference is that Nazis are alive, because no one sympathizes with either kind of character, so it's totally okay to kill a bunch of them without rhyme or reason.

That's kind of the point of the movie. That the audience watching it is just as bloodthirsty as the Nazis. The final scenes in the movie make that extremely explicit. I can't speak on behalf of Korey or the others. If they were offended by the movie (Django) and didn't like it, their opinion is perfectly valid. I've heard quite a few black critics and other writers talk about feeling uncomfortable sitting in a theater surrounded by white people laughing as the word friend of the family is used over and over. It reminds me of Dave Chappelle saying one of the reasons he quit his show was when he was doing an exaggerated black character and he felt like one of the show staffers was laughing at him and not with him. Remembering the dead friend of the family storage scene from Pulp Fiction, I can see why it might really bug them. Saying that, I personally didn't have the same problems with Django Unchained that they did. I'm not going to go over the reasons, but if you read the thread for it in Cinema Discusso they sum it up pretty well.

At first I thought that it was typical korey and leon, old black guys complaining. Watching the movie however after the Mandingo fighting, the tone really did shifted and it wasn't no longer the fun, buddy movie but an ugly look at what we did to people. Ofcourse the end tries to win you back, but nothing is as charming is that first hour. If he had stuck to the tone I would have loved it, instead we get another inglorious basterds, we aren't given what we want.

Weren't they also the only two black people in the theater with everyone else being white? I can imagine them being uncomfortable with everyone laughing when somebody said friend of the family. Then again I saw it with 2/3 of the audience being black and they were laughing just as much.

Great LEOG today if you're a comic fan. A bunch of people talking about poo poo you won't understand if you're not. I fall into the latter. I read my first comic ever (Y: The Last Man) because of LEOG and I loved it so I might check out some of the other titles they list. Also, if you care, here are a bunch of Spill related facebook pages. Spill just posts new podcasts/videos/news, basically an RSS feed on your wall Korey basically never posts anything as far as I can tell Co-Host 3000 usually posts good videos/music/etc. Cyrus Usually just posts links to podcasts/videos he's in Leon Usually just posts polls for LEOG. His driver Martin also has a facebook page, and he posts more general things, usually still relevant to Spill fans. I've never subscribed to/liked any of the ones below so I'm not sure how good or bad the stuff they post is. Cat Dr. Nerdlove AKA Harris Brian Salisbury Jason Murphy of the Loading Bar Professor Jeff of the Loading Bar Some of the other people from the site may have facebook pages as well but they're personal (aka not in character/addressed to Spill users) so please don't send them a friend request or anything. bowser fucked around with this message at 23:43 on Jan 18, 2013 |

I've never gotten a response from Martin/Leon about comic book coloring. I sent the message through the Spill site to his PM inbox, but nothing. Either he never reads those messages, doesn't care to answer, or is too busy to. Yet somehow people get through to him and the others all the time. Though I'm not someone who posts on the website much. I've written a few responses in the comments section, but nothing noteworthy to grab their attention. I avoid their forums and group pages because there's a lot of trash there that I don't want to try to filter through or anything. Not that glorious SA is the gold standard, but the benefit of the doubt is long gone.

And, ya know, seeing it in a room full of white people cackling at every n-word was most likely not awesome.

I think my favorite part of ACOCO is when Korey talks about how he gets his poo poo on with women. I wonder how successful that his pile-poo poo-in-the-living-room-and-let's-watch-a-movie-in-the-bedroom trick works with others. Though I think I had a room mate who made that work quite often. Except he didn't have to pile poo poo in the living room because he had three other room mates in there already.

Why is Loading Bar like the worst part of the site? I mean seriously, the dudes who did the Anarchy Reigns review and Marvel vs Capcom 3 review are ridiculous. They spend about 10 minutes dissecting the story of Anarchy and act like it's the most important part of the game. They also call one of the characters the most racist characters in a game and then go on to praise DmC's story in their review of that game, I mean holy poo poo. It wouldn't just be a problem if they also didn't spend most of the MvC3 review obsessing over how they think none of the Capcom characters could realistically hurt any of the Marvel characters as if that's the loving point of the game.

I remember that Marvel vs. Capcom 3 review. I remember that review being more about how Jason and Korey say how bad they are at fighting games and that Ryu being in a fight with Galactus was nothing more than a throwaway comment, but it was one of those things where I could only say, "really? You really had to throw that out there?".

Movie 43 has officially lowered the bar for movies, it seems. In adition to its scathing Current Releases review, it has inspired the first ever synchronized gently caress YOU!! from Korey and Co-Host. Also, I'm sure I'm not the only one that loves the various theme songs on the site, so I tried to find where they come from. Spill reviews theme ("I ain't got 7.50 to pay") Made by a now defunct Austin hip-hop group called Vehicular. Unfortunately there is no 'full version'. What you hear at the end of the reviews is all they made. It samples Compared to What by Les McCann and Eddie Harris. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qNJfVXxrQU (at about 2:20) LEOG theme Pretty sure this is an original composition by Greg the bassist. I'm still going through the old LEOG's at a slow pace so I'm not sure which episode it debuts in. Let's Do This! theme Get to the Choppa by Austrian Death Machine https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpEgQ3b_Ug0 gently caress Yo' Thoughts! If I remember correctly Korey found this as a sample song on a CD, meant to be used in a video game or something like that. This song always cracks me up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6Gx1uygIvw ACOCO theme Flattery by Prince Paul https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UQFgrJtyB8 The Loading Bar theme Sampled from Runnin (Philippians remix) by The Pharcyde https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YN0dEMvihcI (at about 2:10)

Eh to some people they're friends that they always wanted. As people they're sociable austinites that have been local celebrities for a couple of decades now. What I like about spill is they're accessible and they do treat their fans well. For as big as the site is they really not that many trolls around. The ones that are almost almost a heel that adds on to the site They don't know this but it's the main reason why I'm moving to Austin this summer. Obviously I don't think I'm going to be their best friends or even get in on a podcast but with the large amount of people they hangout with from different backgrounds and whatnot, it seems like tons of fun with a ton of great creative people. They also seem open to everyone as long as you're cool and don't gently caress things up.
