Any idea who the 3 characters are at the end once you hang up?

They show up a bunch in the other acts and interludes. They play a board game under Equus Oils at the start and try to get into the museum in Act 3.

Edit: I was reading this article and the phone in the screenshot is a different one than what I played. Are there different versions?

That's interesting. I wonder if Cardboard Computer changed the model because of the real life phone they ended up modding for sale on eBay and Polygon has an earlier review copy.

But that makes too much sense for CC.

Apparently, you can actually call that phone number and play the game through a real phone. I am not American, so I can't test it myself.

I've done this, and I've paired my phone up to my car's audio system, too. It was insanely fun playing a KRZ audio adventure, taking votes on which option to choose, on a mini roadtrip to SF.

Why are some of the options (looking at you, organs) so freaking long though, ughhhhhhh

Just that you miss out on the text when you hang up the phone in the computer version. I haven't noticed any other differences.

How many other people besides my boyfriend and me actually tried to make the TV static noises to see if it would prompt a response? We felt so silly afterwards, but we wouldn't put it past CC to sneak something in there.

I did it with my car radio. It was hard to find a station that was just static...

It turns out that there are actually several phone models in the game, and which one you get depends on what flags are set in your savegame.

Also, if you let the phone sit for a while, it will ring by itself. One of the messages you can get this way is a recording of a numbers station, containing a coded message: http://steamcommunity.com/app/231200/discussions/0/620695877410574318/.

* A 1986 RadioShack Telephone
* In good / weird condition
* Only dials one number
* Repair is unlikely
* May have been present during emotionally difficult events

I might also add that this ad's music is deeply, violently seventies

This music was born in the old folks' home

This music smells like dip and tastes like cheap casino carpeting

You can occasionally hear this music while flipping through Grandma's old photo album, but you can't really listen to it

This is the music that plays in the elevator after you get out of it

Now the chyron just says "RELAX RELAX RELAX RELAX RELAX RELAX".

The birds standing on the phone have a pile of seeds in front of each of them.

Edit: Now it says "place a bid in the next 30 minutes and we'll include a free artificial flamingo bird."

There is now a hand above the phone showing us the flamingo, and placing it on the phone.

Edit: newest offer: a free MT9970 DIP microchip.

Best case scenario its a lead up to Episode 4's release date. But I would just be totally fine if they were just doing it for the hell of it.

vv Huh. I guess they had an automatic bidding system?

Sorry for the doublepost, but there was a bug in Act III that they took ages to fix, if they ever did. Have they fixed it yet?

From Twitter:

"Will Act IV come out before the end of May 2015?"

"still not doing any release date forecasting, sorry! but we're hard at work & hope you'll feel it worth the wait."

"Can't even confirm it will not take as long as Act III?! :-("

"we hope not but, frankly, it will if it needs to. this process takes weird turns sometimes & we wouldn't have it otherwise."
