Checking the results, I was surprised to see 750+ voters counted. I guess using this off-site poll means people who aren't registered can vote now.

As soon as I saw the elevator shot, I wanted to compare it to DR1's first trial. The elevator growing gradually more empty was one of my favorite unsettling, uh, art things.

I hope Nanami is the murderer next chapter, just to gently caress with her fans.

I think I'll stop reading the thread and stick to oren's updates after each murder, so I can get that experience of figuring out the mystery as I play the game. He made some good points.

If someone wants to read the trial in one sitting, they can just wait until the trial is over. :raise:

On an unrelated note, does anyone think that Junko doesn't really understand despair? Just think of the despairing happenings in our normal boring world:

Those things can be depressing to think about, but people find ways to keep going, to find some kind of 'hope' for the future to hold on to. Junko's despair comes from the spectacle of these idolized kids killing each other.

Also, a game based around those kinds of things wouldn't be much fun.

They're rallying together...that's impressive. I don't think the DR1 gang was so tough. It's hard to see who might break next.

Action plan: Lock Nagito in his cabin, with perpetual rotating two-student guard. Food is brought to him. I forget if the cabins have indoor plumbing or if there's an outdoor latrine, if the latter, escort him to and from it.

There's been a lot of talk about the need to guard Nagito, but is he really a murder risk? It doesn't seem like that's his agenda; if anything, the real danger is that someone will murder him.

If you don't like me, I won't mind if you come and kill me! I've already prepared myself to become a stepping stone for everyone!
If my death leads to more despair-inducing hope... then my life is cheap.
But, if you decide to kill me, come consult with me first, will you?
I'll cooperate with any culprit that does.

Protective custody may be what's needed here.

So reading from the beginning of the first game to this point in a single sitting is not something I would recommend to anyone else. These...really aren't games that you can process all at once.

Anyway, besides the memory deletion research, I'm having trouble figuring out how Zero at this point, serves as a setup to Two. I'd say that it was the students studying abroad, but that would mean that this game took place before the original, and that seems to not be the case.
Is there some sort of character/event overlap I'm missing, or is it something that hasn't come up yet?

Falls Down Stairs posted a summary of DR0 so far on page 232, which may help put things together. The second part of the story is supposed to put the first part in a different light, so not seeing DR0's connection at this point is probably to be expected.

Can someone link me to that preview of the Dangan Ronpa anime? I don't want Dangan Ronpa 2 spoilers in video thumbnails :v:

ninja edit: should I post this in this thread or in the DR1 thread?

DR1 thread has more talk about the anime on the last couple pages.

Correct me if I am wrong - but I think that there is a lot more content (in terms of the investigation and the trial) than there was in the first game.
I wonder if this because Kazutake Kodaka assumed the players would want more content/difficulty in a sequel?
Compared to the first trial, where the culprit was pretty obvious, I liked how this time around it was much more satisfying and difficult to pinpoint the culprit in the first trial.

I agree. It's taken 38 updates to finish the first chapter of DR2. 38 updates into DR1 we were starting the second trial. Not only that, I'm pretty sure we're getting longer updates in DR2, though I haven't actually measured them. I'm wondering just how much longer this game is.
