Is there any reason why I wouldn't want to buy this Vizio M602I-B3? I don't really care for any of the Smart TV Features as I'll be using a HTPC or PlayStation 4. Screen quality is pretty important to me...

I literally got this TV about five or six hours ago and, except for dealing with a lovely mount, the TV is pretty loving awesome. There's my technical, scientific analysis.

I can't exactly tell but is the TV Bezel or Screen glossy?

The bezel appears to be glossy, yes. The screen is an LED screen so you can see reflections of direct light on it but the image is very clearly visible either way.

Eh, crap... Is there any other alternative that has roughly the same specs but with a matte-finish?

What announcement? They announced the p series in January starting at $999

They're due in the fall sometime this year... I'm not even sure if I'd pick one up but it might be worth waiting for as it'll probably(?) drop the price of existing HD TVs...

Vizio 4k Chat :words:

I'm a little concerned about how some users showed how colors seemed to blob with 1080p content and when directly connected to a PC some 4k content suddenly became blocky. Granted, he was using integrated graphics.

I'm going to wait abit, at least until we got some official reviews but this does seem like the tv to buy.

For that have soundbars, can you get away with laying them under the tv or do they have to be wall mounted?

I'm looking at the standard Vizio soundbars or the Klipsch model.

I've been trying to keep on all the P-Series threads (AVS,HardOCP,etc) but no one has been able to get the P-Series to work at 1080p/120hz or 4k/60hz.

Also,

I've been trying to follow all the chat but the rumor is that the same panel that's in the P-Series 65" is also going to be the R-Series 65".

If that's true then the 65" is the one to get.

What does content protection have to do with the inability to display 4:4:4 colors? This also seems a little backwards compared to typical PC monitors where it's always better to have IPS over VA or TN - correct?

Has anyone got Amazon 4k Content to work on their Vizio P-Series?

EDIT - Looks like Vizio will update the P-Series at some point but I am betting there's a deal between LG/Samsung to have Prime 4k Content on their TVs first.

Nope. The increase in size is something you will value everyday, while 4k not only doesn't have any content, but the idea of 4k being any better than 1080p is dubious at best. 4k reminds me of the years of fabricated contrast numbers. LCD TV with 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio! (Actual number 400:1)

More pixels does not mean better, especially when you can't distinguish individual pixels on a 1080p TV. Also, the E-Series has a better picture than the P series. You'd be paying more for a smaller TV and a worse picture for more pixels that you can't take advantage of and the most critical of people can't tell the difference between.

You can certainly tell the difference between 720p, 1080p and 4k but largely dependent on the size of the screen.

4k is available. Netflix and Amazon are both streaming in 4k. The selection is slim but all new shows and movies will be filmed in it.

Again, not true. The the vast majority of stuff produced today is still less than 4k. Filming with 4k cameras is becoming more common, but 4k workflows are still lagging and there still a ton of stuff being shot digitally in less than 4k. 2.8k is still a very popular format to capture in.

There is not some industry wide cutover to 4k. There's still a significant cost and time advantage in working in 2k and those concerns are going to trump for now.

Point taken,

Are showes/movies still shot in film?

All the colors are person face become one colors, all the surfaces don't have any depth. It's off and on...

Umm,
