I'd recommend today's We Hate Movies about "Taking Care of Business" just for them talking about Jim Belushi on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

That letter they read at the end was horribly awesome or too.

I don't know who the new Jim Belushi would be and I think he might be a one-of-a-kind anomaly. The closest I could think of might be Tom Arnold, but Tom Arnold has actually been in a decent movie (True Lies) and he's not exactly "new". It seems pretty difficult to find someone who has never done anything good.

Kevin James.

Cat People is pretty great. It is hilariou sand they are back to really hating a movie.

I was pumped when I saw that they did this movie. I just watched it last week after seeing it on-demand because I had some vague memory of someone telling me it was great. It was obvious after looking it up that they were talking about the classic one from the 40s.

The last couple WHM have been so good. Still haven't had a chance to listen to the Godzilla one but after the savaging they gave Matthew Broderick on the Addicted to Love episode I can't wait.

I've also started listening to The Flop House a bit recently and I love it, even though they really only spend like 20 minutes talking about the movie and the rest of the episode is usually filled with semi to flat out hilarious riffs. I don't really get why everyone seems to hate Elliot, he has a nerdy voice but he's pretty drat funny and seems quite knowledgeable.

I figured he was the most popular of all the original peaches.

It seems weird to me that a job wouldn't allow you to do creative things on the side, but I guess this is more common than I thought? Would his job have been equally compromised if he was caught like making dreamcatchers and selling them at a flea market?

Drunkboxer
Jun 30, 2007
I'm not sure I'll call in because I have to believe WHM has this in the hopper, but I really wish they'd do The Island (1980). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Island_(1980_film). It has a lot of the things they like in it Michael Caine, a really really lovely kid, and stupid violence.

Honestly despite listening to the entire WHM catalog, many twice, I cannot really distinguish any of the dudes.

That's pretty weird, I've listened to most of them and I don't have a problem. Chris is the nasally guy who dislikes most everything. Eric is the gruff voiced guy who does a lot of jokey jokes and puns, sometime aping Norm MacDonald. Steve is also nasally but his voice is higher pitched he is also (arguably) the funniest. Andrew is the pilot of the whole thing, has the most radio appropriate voice of them all and serves as the de facto straight man a lot of the time.

Now if you wanted me to identify them based on their pictures that's a different thing. They're all chubby white dudes. I agree with the sentiments expressed in this thread in that I prefer it when Chris isn't on, but I kinda feel bad about saying that because it's not like he's bad or anything, I just prefer the other two guys. On the plus side, he does seem to know more about movies than the anyone else on the podcast.

He's no Elliot Kalan though.

edit: feel like I'm thinking way to much about bad movie podcasts. I blame you assholes.

It totally reeks of desperation, they were obviously banking this movie on Eastwood alone.

That was way worse than I expected.

Some of those really minimalistic 70s trailers are pretty good, I remember Enter The Dragon's being awesome.

Woah, I'd never go that far. It may not be as structured as Flophouse, WHM never gets into outright arguing like HDTGM does, which is why I stopped listening to it.

While Flophouse definitely has great content, I kind of prefer WHM now because they spend a lot more time on the movie in every episode. In the Flophouse it almost feels like they rush through the movie to get to the letters and recommendations.

In general I like Flophouse better but I think they're sometimes hamstrung by their recent movie rule. A lot of the films they do are just boring, while WHM can go to known good-bad movies whenever they want.

It's probably their most controversial choice since there's a lot of people who genuinely like that movie. I'm so-so on it so I didn't mind it all that much.

I do think they were spot on with their comparism of this and Galaxy Quest though.

I would say Cocoon is probably the most controversial choice since that's kinda considered a classic. I also liked Mystery Men, but I haven't seen it since 99.

Could still be either. Swordfish was a big budget summer movie (budget of $102 million), and while it only made $147 million, I remember people were everywhere talking about it summer of 2001. I guess, pre-9-11, Halle Berry going topless was enough to consume the country's thoughts.

Was that scene as pointless as I remember it? I remember it literally just being her sitting in a chair with her tits out, apropos of nothing.

Thinking about bad Lifetime movies they really need to do Cyber Seduction aka the Lifetime movie about porn addiction.

Cyber Seduction would be great. Actually, Lifetime movies in general are so so great. There could easily be a bad movie podcast dedicated to them alone. A few Saturdays ago I had LMN on for like 8 hours and saw part a movie about a haunted road, a horrible movie about 2 rich kids who's families both simultaneously lose all there money somehow so they decide to get rich again by murdering a third kid who happens to have just won the lottery, and 2 different movies about incest.

There are a loving ton of "classics" too, like that one about a baby that's possessed with another dead, and vengeful, baby. Also there's that one where DJ Tanner gets raped by Zack Morris.
