Hayley Williams' solo project Petals for Armor is out today and getting some really good reviews. I was blown away by Simmer and Leave it Alone so I'm looking forward to hearing the entire album.

It's so good. Part 3 doesn't stand out to me quite as much as parts 1 and 2 did but it's early days, I feel like these are the kind of songs I'll come round to after a couple of listens.

Also new Aly and AJ song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9P_b2e_01U

Just finished the Hayley Williams album and her voice is great as always but a lot of the songs didn't really do much for me.

Demi Lovato has apparently taken personal offense at Hayley Williams horning in on the pop space so much and is getting back at her by releasing a Paramore song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhYQsXfYy9c

(yeah it's just a remix of one of her newer tracks but it's really leaning into the early-2000s pop-punk vibe, getting Travis Barker just seals the deal)

edit: gently caress man kim petras' new song is a banger but it's another dr Luke song I loving hate that guy

edit:
this is amazing, you don't get many drummers who can sing like this at the same time, everyone looks like they're having an incredible time. G Flip deserves to get so much more attention

guys, I have something to confess

I tend to believe that the idea of "guilty pleasures" are dumb. At one point I probably said that pop music was a guilty pleasure, but I've long passed the point of feeling bad about what I like, and I think that you should just own up to what you enjoy listening to and not try to couch it in irony or "guilty pleasures"

that being said, I think this train song is great:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSBFehvLJDc

I'm sorry, I've failed, I'm going to music hell, but it's just so loving goofy, like someone wrote a parody of a train song and got Pat Monahan to sign off on it

edit; I think the best part is the dumb specificity of "She got run over by a graphite purple Scion". It's very mean-spirited and goofy and I love singing along to it,

Honestly, I was late to the whole Paramore craze being a metal fan (and of course it was a sin to listen to anything except metal).

I listened some of their stuff later and I must say I like their edgy/angsty stuff more than the newer, objectively more hi quality songs.

It reminds me of my lovely teenage years.

Charli's new album is pretty good. Claws is very aptly named because even after being out for weeks it still has it's claws in my brain

Honestly the new Charli is so perfect to me. I always liked her more introspective or sentimental tracks so I think I was predisposed to love this one but it really does hit. All of the tracks bring something to the table for me. Even though I think "I Finally Understand" is one of the weaker songs, I find the lyrics really striking.

The double hitter of Anthems and Visions is a hell of a way to end the album. As a massive Charli fan & just the circumstances it was made & released under I wouldn't be surprised if this is my AOTY. I've been leaning heavily on older, familiar music while in lockdown but I can't stop going back to this. It's wonderful.

any other artist saying "oh yeah I've got a b-sides album coming" and I'm like oh sure fine whatever but Emotion Side B was just as good as Side A.

edit: so this month we've gotten albums from Carly, Charli, Gaga, Kehlani, The 1975, Perfume Genius and Hayley Williams. What a stacked month.
