A few months ago while on vacation, I decided to try and watch some Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on Netflix with my cousin. We agreed that there was plenty to laugh at, but that the sum of the parts wasn't great, particularly in the pacing department! Since then, I've been working to fix that by condensing each episode into a five-minute affair on average, preserving all of the best action and the "best" acting. Until now I'd been posting it in the Tokusatsu thread down in animetown, but I have now been made aware of this thread.

You can find it here, but be forewarned that I was working with really lovely and inconsistent quality rips up until episode 12, so you may or may not want to skip to that episode.

Enjoy!

I was just reading up on that earlier today. They were going to have a scene where the Ranger stormed Rita's palace and sealed her away again.

Oh, and this randomly popped up on my youtube feed: ever wanted to be part of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Official Fan Club? Now you can be, vicariously. It's kinda remarkably cringey, but it's really interesting that you've got the actors playing their characters, but way more like actual people than they ever were on the show.

Aw, heck. I'll never be a Power Ranger - I love drugs and alcohol too much. :smith:

Speaking of which, here's one bad weed! This episode marks the start of original footage shot specifically for the American show, and features a pretty decent performance from Squatt, making it A Good Episode.

Isn't that just the alarm?

Also, have a bafflingly quiet Goldar, which didn't make the cut in this video.

It’s also not explained how three rangers were able to put together the Power Blaster, but I’ll overlook that one for the sake of a good enough story.

No, don't you see, it's a narrative device that the show leans on because it can't tell its own story

No, I'm saying it's a writer crutch to transition from a scene they did to a scene they really wanted to do even if it made no sense to explain how it happened.

A similar concept in PR-world would be "Behold the Viewing Globe", and how the PR villains had free vision everywhere in the universe from Rita's telescope to, well Divatox's periscope, until Judd Lynn wrote In Space and took that crutch away from that show's villain.

Did you manage to watch Ex-Aid without subs? It's not a similar concept. Stage Select doesn't act as a means of clairvoyance, nor is it a thing that brings a Rider physically to his opponent (except in a few rare cases). It's used to make fights in progress flashier.

To your comparison, poster, I say no thank you.

It was at least pretty clear that the Zeonizers were a thing cooked up by Zordon to tap into the sub-crystals.

The explanation for the power shades seems to be "I know a guy who knows a guy".
