I can't decide on a class to play. I have tried wizard, sorc, and elf so far. I have gotten the farthest as a sorc. I can see how she would be really useful in a party. The problem is, seems like that could be kinda boring. Elf seemed fun but I am worried I am gonna lose track of her online in a sea of elves. How is the fighter? Seems he isn't used much and he def stands out in a crowd. I am just worried its gonna be mash button. I like using magic or shooting things. I am worried amazon/dwarf/warrior are gonna be like playing as Colossus on the old Xmen arcade game: fun to play for a short bursts, but boring after a bit.

I see I was wrong about this. I have made a warrior and it's the most fun I have had in this game yet. You guys are right the melee characters move and have so much character that it's not just mash button to win. (Also punching everything when I shouldn't be owns). Thanks again. Edit: one more question, sometimes the thief picks up coins before I get them, do they still go to me or do I need to do it before he gets them. waah fucked around with this message at 20:36 on Aug 9, 2013 |

If there wasnt any slowdown I would say the vita version is perfect. I can't imagine not having a touchscreen.

How far do you have to be along to get multiplayer?

Do you have to unlock network for each character? I unlocked it for an elf and thought I was good for all the rest. I guess not?

AxeManiac posted:Picked this up on Vita, playing the drunk dwarf guy. This game is really good and I love the combat. It is also an amazing game to see in motion, everything moves so... weirdly beautiful and the game has a ton of attention to detail. The map screen is beautiful, and all the cool art looking stuff like the angels flying down to revive bones or the sun lighting up a level are just fantastic. God, what I wouldn't give for a Steam version of this game. My favorite is the way the warrior's armor sorta flops up and down as he breathes. First time I paid attention to it, it completely blew my mind.

No one likes he skeleton/golem army. They would rather do sick damage with their elves.

Cao Ni Ma posted:NPCs are disposable. That is, they start to break gear and you can replace it. They'll only be useful (if at all) for a few dungeons before they becomely useless. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but it seems like they rarely drop a 4th AI in when I am running through dungeons offline/singleplayer.

Million Ghosts posted:As far as I know, the PS3 version is a port of the Vita one, so it makes sense couch co-op is kinda lazy. It seems more like it's intended to show your friends how it plays, as compared to actually doing the campaign together. This is sony's evil plan to make people buy vitas.

Only half of this is true drat it! I have only beaten the game with an elf. I got ~lvl 25 sorc, wiz, dwarf, and warrior. Don't judge me.

I think it's been mentioned in the thread, but I jus found out about this: if you go into options and turn on health bars, not only do you get to see your health and monsters health, your health bar is color coded so that it's easier to find where the hell you are on screen.

I chained 10 dungeons last night with the absolute best two pubs I have ever played alongside. The first two dungeons were figuring out how the others played, but once they realized that I was power bombing everything into one small area for them to spam spells at the dungeons just flew by. We are talking what seemed like 10-15 seconds per screen and most bosses died before their gimmick. Chimera died before the floor caved in, Kraken just as he was breaking the first pillar. 1) Dwarves power bomb everything into small areas 2) sorcerors/wizards spam that area with spells 3) ??? 4) Profit

Toxins and salamander oil and quiver are must haves. Charge shot is kinda good for shooting across the map and doing limited area deeps. Don't put a ton of points in boots. Have lots of points in evasion so you can live. One or two points in clone strike is okay. Everything else is your discretion.

NESguerilla posted:Yeah, I was doing side quests, but the beetles killed my only companion and I ran out of gold. My weapon also broke mid level so I was doing terrible damage. Elf takes a little bit of a rhythm to get going. You need to spam arrows, then go in for a couple kicks to get arrows and then spam again. If you are kicking to kill stuff you are literally doing it wrong. Rapid fire gets a bit of a bad rap, but for early levels, taking a rank of it will give you some much needed burst dps for bosses until you get more powerful waah fucked around with this message at 01:00 on Sep 6, 2013 |

tooooooo bad posted:I dunno where this elves being bad outside of boss fights comes from. On infernal they're the best source of damage against extra tough enemies like blue skeletons and red zombies outside of maybe the Amazon. Air charged shots tear enemies right the gently caress up (frequently juggling or stunning them in the process) and I didn't take the elememental magic skill but I can say for sure that daggers with high rank backstab demolish enemies and you don't even need to throw them to do it. It's because it's even easier to do damage without thinking with the other classes AND it's incredibly easy for bad players to make a really useless elf. You really have to be a mouthbreather to eff up the amazon or dwarf.

Warrior is for noobs... Until the game actually gets hard in the last bits of lab of chaos and the 100+ levels. Seriously playing well there requires a bit of skill and also teammates who aren't complete idiots and use your ability to tank. Smart use of Sacrifice/distract can really make a tough battle to way easier. Bash and cover allies really give stupid good bonuses if you can convince people to take advantage of it.
