 The monster design in this game is awesome.

I love cute dice mechanics. Also the Redcap's bad word concept. Is there any other game that does anything like that?

 Combat in 13th Age is fun. Don't curtail it. But you could make it more exciting by using more monsters with interesting mechanics like the Redcap.
