Goons, what's the name of your PCs\Servers\Network? Do you have a theme? If it's obscure, educate us PC: Yomiko She's a librarian from a series called Read or Die. My PC is also my current file server as well hence the name Network: Stormstout Brewery. This is an instance in WoW and I created the network back when I was playing. I need to change it.

Seriouspost: We have used a standard of company shortform - username for our computers, like "ABC-JOHOL" where ABC is company and JOHOL is two first characters of first name and three first of last name "John Holmes". We've been playing with the idea of switching to using "john.holmes" as username, but then we can't have a matching computername (abc-john.holmes is both too long and contains a dot). Any suggestions? We would like to have a logical connection between username and computername to make it easier to remote control computers. Servernames are just boring "FUNCTION" names.. like "EXCHANGE" and "ORACLE".

Network: Cereal Bro. This is named after our low-budget version of the X-men machine of the similar name, made from a cereal box, obviously. Note: The cereal box has not been edited at all. It is just a cereal box that the wearer places on head.

My old tower had the standard 2 LED setup but only one of them worked, so I named it Odin, which got carried over when I got my new tower. My network, then, is Bifrost, and I changed the names of my Kindle and HTC One to Huginn and Muninn. It's pretty nerdy I admit but I played a lot of Age of Mythology as a kid so

I've cycled through so many of the dozens of hilarious network names, think I'll keep this one for a while.. for nostomania's sake. A mortal enemy of mine that has caused huge amounts of property damage/theft and stress (five tires, five screws, hundreds of dollars worth of theft within three months) is under double-narcotics surveillance as per my household's request and is the extremely paranoid type to boot. So to gently caress with her head until she gets busted;

Current WiFi network name is The Orgasmotorium. I had to change it temporarily when a nice, elderly downstairs neighbour with no PC asked if his visiting son could connect his laptop to my WiFi, if I had one. Previous network names have been Sorry About My Terrible Taste in Music and SORRY ABOUT THE NOISE WHEN WE gently caress. I have been completely celibate for years. (I know the last two are longer than 32 characters. They aren't in my language, which isn't English)

Current naming scheme for my computers is Star Wars planets. Main Desktop: Coruscant Laptop: Dantooine Wife Laptop: Tatooine Work Desktop (in the office): Kessel Work Laptop: Hoth When I had to remote into my work desktop from home, I jokingly referred to it as "The Kessel Run". This is now less clever that my two above-mentioned work computers no longer exist (I'm no longer with that company), and I'm tiring of the Star Wars theme. I like the NASA theme someone had earlier, if I move into a house this year I'll rebuild my network and probably change scheme to that. Name desktops after space shuttles (Discovery, Endeavour, Atlantis), the server Houston (we've had a problem).

Ethernet name: Nelson Computers: Victory, Excelsior, Bellerophon, Neptune, Vulture; all named after Royal Navy ships from the 1790s, named according to their relative power: Victory (104-gun first-rate) is the desktop gaming rig; Bellerophon (74) is the middlin' desktop, Neptune (98 guns) is the newish laptop with better specs than the lesser desktop, Vulture (14-gun sloop-of-war) is the netbook. Wifi SSIDs are THE GIBSON and TOTALLY NOT THE NSA.
