Okay, so, minor heads up. Due to some technical reasons (nothing major thankfully), along with incredibly poor planning on my part, next update's delayed a bit. Won't be up until sometime next week (most likely Tuesday but may be a bit later).

Good news, though, is that I don't need to keep the polls open the entire time because the results went basically where I expected to. And by a significant enough margin that they probably wouldn't get overtaken anyway, even if someone did somehow vote over the next few days.

Also I've taken some time to replay the first Devil Survivor for funsies and jeez it is a slog without some of the quality of life stuff that was re-added for this one. So, uh, there's that I guess.

Overclocked is basically the first game plus the quality of life stuff, plus it's available on the eShop now. There's really no reason to go after the original DS Devil Survivor unless you don't have a 3DS at this point. (Or unless you're emulating it, but we know that none of the goons on SA are pirates, right? :v:)

Nah, Garm's a couple levels above Waira but waaaaaaay below Afanc. Because of course it is.

At least Suparna's between the two and makes Yuzu actually usable before the fights are over.

And, yeah, it's this. Since Overclocked took forever to come out here ("yay" Europe releases), and when it originally did there was added gamebreaking bugs somehow which has thankfully been patched out I think, I never bothered with it. Already had the original and gotten all endings and didn't feel like redoing it.

Kinda regretting that decision now.

KNEEL BEFORE THE WICKED KING!
Yuzuru Akie ~ Salvação

[Music: Exploration]

We'll go visit our weird new buddy first, just to get it out of the way.

Which, uh, is actually a bad idea. Should really do Joe Lost first but it doesn't matter
that much in the end. Just miss out on one small optional scene. No biggy.

[Music: Requiem]

I can't take this anymore... How much longer will this go on?
I don't know... And there's nothing we can do...

You're right... There really isn't anything we can do...!

You recognize a man who is watching the people...

[Music: The Anguished One]

Just like the stars, no matter how far away they are, they still obey the rules.
Don't you agree, Shining One?
What're you talking about?

Once, humans were ignorant and weak beings, that merely kept themselves alive...

And now... humans are free to live any way they choose. What a rare gift.
But it's ironic... That free spirit also gave birth to twistedness in their hearts.
Don't you remember how chaotic the world you once lived in was?
Tell me, human. I want to know...
Do you really want those diseased days to return?
Yeah.
I see... Then why don't you think of it this way?

Receiving the bounty of earth with no cares, only existing to pass on seed...
How would that be?
No way.

...Just what has freedom done for man...?

The man vanishes, leaving only his mysterious words behind...

[Music: Exploration]

Of course Nicaeaman has Fate levels. He's clearly special, has a unique everything, has already been shown to use demons and even has his own theme music.

What isn't immediately apparent is just how insanely good his Fate level 1 resistances are going to be:

Airi was the first to get multiple resistances at level 1. Anguished One takes that further and gets two resistances and an outright immunity. Because he is just that good.

But we'll possibly see that in practice later. For now, we have a Joe to go and retrieve from the lost and found.

Joe's not here... Looks like he hasn't been here yet.
Dammit... Where the hell is he? We still can't get through to his phone, either...
Mm. He's probably okay. Let's keep looking.

He usually shows up at the weirdest moments, but now that we're looking for him...

[Music: Countdown]

Hey...! That voice... Could it be...!?
Yeah... Let's go check it out!

[Music: A Moment of Rest]

Hmph! A slap's nothing next to what I went through! I nearly died!
"I'll protect you with my life!" you said, but what do you actually do!? Turn and run!
N-No... You got it all wrong! I can't kill demons, right? So I was going for help...

You even turned around to nod an apology while you ran!
C-Come on, it wasn't like that... I was just trying to tell you I'd be back and...
What...!? You expect me to believe that? I don't want to hear any more excuses!

It wasn't Joe... What should we do, Hibiki?
Leave them be.
Actually... I think we should intervene. I don't really care, but it is dangerous here...

Enough of your lies! I'll never forgive you for this!
Um... Sorry to bother you. I can see you're in the middle of something...
Shut up! What do you want!?
Yikes...! No use shooting the messenger, lady...
Er, I mean... If you're going to fight, you might wanna take it someplace else.
What...? Butt out, kid!
Isn't this a public park!? We can do what we want!
S-Sure... but it probably won't be long before demons show up here...
Demons...!? A-Are you serious!?
No way I'm getting involved! I barely got away from them the last time...!

Hey... He ran off again! Get back here!
What's with you!? You should be more like the guy in the flat cap who helped me escape!

[Music: Silence]

The woman goes after the man, her expression fierce...

[Music: Exploration]

Mm. Don't worry. My boss says the more a couple fights, the closer they are.

Oh...! Yeah... maybe so!
Then we should be able to find him if we look around here some more...
Mmm-hmm! Let's keep at it, everyone!

You all decide to split up and search for Joe...

We don't really have to do this event yet, and that's why this is where I should've taken a minor detour to hang out with The Anguished One. Ah well, live and learn I suppose. 17:00 is the absolute last chance to save Joe though.

So, yeah, not really any leeway here!

quote:

Survives 92% (128)
Dies 8% (11)

Good thing too, since that means we can get this done right now.

[Music: Countdown]

Oh! You there, turn back! Th-There's demons that way!
Just demons?
Um... W-Wait! There were a few people who didn't get away, but we can't go back for them!

The man runs off as fast as he can...

Aieeeee!

Oh, this might explain why Joe's slated to die here actually. He is risking his own life to save other people, and those sorts of escort missions are seldom fun.

W-Wait... I can't go any further...

N-No...! Get away!

Dammit... This is unbelievable...
This is bad... If it keeps up, everyone's going to--

Ugh, this is horrible. Maybe there's no point...
Joe!
Huh!? Oh, Hibiki! Great timing!

...And that explains why Joe's just stood there not doing anything. It's not cutscene stupidity; he outright can't help even if he wants to (and he clearly does).

Everyone, get to safety immediately! I'll protect you!

Oh! Clicky! Uh... What should I do?
Hibiki's over there, and Ronaldo's over there...
Get over here!
Oh... huh? Okay. I'll do that!

The dialogue option for where Joe should head makes a very minor difference to the difficulty here. Sending Joe and the other civilians our way puts the escape panels over by our starting point.

[Music: Challenge to the Fate]

This makes it marginally easier since most of the demons will then funnel to our location instead of away from us. It doesn't make a real difference or anything. It just saves some time.

Loa's the only new demon here in the sense that we're fighting it before using it. Power Charge and Preserve Extra are the only cracks available; since Jungo, Io and Hinako are all at Fate level 2 or higher, this setup makes it so that regardless of who kills either the Loa or the Orthrus we get the skill.

You can get some bonus Fate points with Ronaldo if he survives through the fight. He's mostly capable of looking after himself, but if the fight takes too long he will get taken out.

The civilians can't fight back against the demons, but they're not in any real danger either. They can take a few hits, but they really shouldn't just in case.

There's exactly one demon up by Ronaldo and it makes me question the one change he has made to his lineup. He removed his not-terrible Baphomet and replaced it with a weaker Pendragon. I have no idea why.

Like Joe said, he can't use his phone here so he's functionally identical to a regular civilian. Not a problem, just something to remember; he won't be helping us out here.

Sure!
Whoa ho ho ho! I knew I could count on you guys! Be careful!

Hibiki could've taken out this Pyro Jack before, but that wouldn't be very fun.

Best let Jungo massacre it instead.

Loa's kind of gotten a hell of a lot worse since its Devil Survivor 1 version.

There it wasn't threatening per se, but it could throw around a ton of ailments.

Here it tries to pretend to be menacing but has no attacks and dies if you so much as look at it.

That Add-On is vaguely relevant to this, I guess. Unfortunately it's the seventh one we'd be in possession of, so I have to ditch one of them; I opted to get rid of Vi+2.

Out of all the add-ons there are, I never use Vitality ones. I dunno why; I just don't. I know on some level they'd be good to use to fix any major problems with, like, demons that have the durability of tissue. I just never remember to use them.

Man, I wish I could fight, too... Sorry I can't help. I'm counting on you!

Now that we're actually putting demons out of commission, a couple more spawn in at the top. It's only this Pyro Jack right behind Ronaldo and a Wendigo directly above our starting point though. Nothing actually dangerous.

Hinako has Tailwind right now. It lets her be double-useful; +Stone and Grimoire make it likely that she automurders anything that isn't outright immune to Curse. The number of hits combine to make her raw damage up there with everyone else, so even if Stone doesn't proc then she can still probably murder them anyway.

It's not quite as visually pleasing as a single big number would be, but it's still drat nice. A bunch of numbers that add up to that one big number has almost the same effect.

It just looks less impressive because you see her do 50 damage a hit compared to someone like Jungo dealing that 250 in a single blow. But it's the same result anyway, so it doesn't really matter too much.

Oh, and in case you were wondering when Wednesday was going to stop being a complete cakewalk it still isn't happening. Joe's death clip fight is super easy.

Getting Ronaldo's bonus Fate points is the hardest part of this whole thing by far. It's still not actually difficult though.

And by this point, there's only the Pyro Jack and Wendigo "reinforcements" left alive. The civilians can just leave whenever they have the chance.

The Wendigo party suffers from the same "everything weak to Fire" problem the Loa one had. Sadly it's at this point that King Frost's low default level is showing its problems. He can still deal a respectable amount of damage but he can't take hits so good any more.

I'd say King Frost had a good run, really. This is his swan song, but he's been around for a good long while as is. Hopefully we'll fuse him into something nice.

...I still do not know why this Pyro Jack decided to warp to fight Hibiki here. Ronaldo's down to just himself. He has 80 HP left; the Jack and Tlalocs could take him out here and now.

So instead they warp to Hibiki, who's only fought the Loa thus far and is in good shape. And further away too. I'm not complaining; just confused.

Helped Suparna out though. Avian's second race skill, Winged Flight, is actually pretty nice though it does render Devil Speed basically worthless for whoever you give it to. Instead of just a +1 to movement, it's a +2 boost.

Really, the only thing that stops that being super good is that even after this point Avian demons aren't that great. It also doesn't stack so you can't get to +8 by giving someone two Avians.

[Music: Over the Brink of Death]

What about your demons?
Ahaha... Actually, I noticed later that my phone's battery had died...
Th-The battery died...!? You really are dumb, huh!?
Hahaha... Yeah, I was in a real fix there. You know how I'm a city boy?
When I got here, I ran into some folks who were being chased by demons.

Hm...? Ooohhh, Clicky. I gotta thank you too. It's 'cause of you that I'm A-OK.
Cli... Anyway. Don't rush in so recklessly. If we hadn't been around, you'd have died.
Clicky!
Ooh, you like it? Ahaha... Don't worry, I think I can be more careful from now own!
I... I guess you'll be okay?
Hahaha. Sure, yeah, I'll find a way through!

You think so?
...I won't force the issue. Well, time I was going.

Ronaldo leaves...

He really is a nice guy. Yep...
...So, Hibiki. What brings you guys here?
Actually...

Whoa... Yikes. Did I really die in that thing? Man...
Then again... You know, I felt a little like my number was up until I saw you.
So that was it. Thanks a ton, man. I really appreciate it.

Oh, for the love of...! Does he really understand that he almost died?
Hmm... Who can say? He's a strange cookie.

Oh yeah... Do we have to do something about that thing? I guess we do, huh...

You say your farewells to everyone and leave...

[Music: Exploration]

For once, someone other than Jungo hits the next highest Fate level first. Much like with Fate 2, the level 4 bonus is the same for everyone and something to help with combat.

Unlike Joint Skill Cracking, I think this one is completely and utterly worthless.

SDTP, also known as "Summoned Demon Transfer Protocol," lets you send demons to others. Ths allows you to send demons to teams that are in danger.

SDTP is not as nice as it sounds. Instead of summoning a demon from the stock, or healing or anything like that you can have your party leader send one of their two demons to Hibiki. He can send one to anyone who has Fate level 4, but two people with Fate 4 cannot send demons to/from one another.

This is not worth using, ever. Having a demon return to stock and then have whoever you want to pull it from there achieves the same thing but doesn't leave one person significantly gimped. It also doesn't mean having Joe send a demon to Io requires Hibiki to waste his time acting as an intermediary.

I'm sure someone will say I'm wrong because of reasons, but whatever. I've tried using SDTP a couple of times and not once has it been worth the hassle.

On a less bitter note, this time Hibiki DID level up so let's fuse some new things.

We'll start off by fusing Kikuri-Hime and Leanan Sidhe to make a Lailah. She's pretty okay; no weaknesses, can eventually revive dudes, deals pretty sweet magic damage, is a Divine despite her appearance... hard to complain really.

You knew it was coming. Thor + King Frost made this guy; I'm mildly annoyed I couldn't do anything about that Physical weakness, but pairing him with Suparna at this point does mean that whoever has the two of them will move further than they would normally AND can snipe at dudes from a safe distance.

I get the feeling that the weakness is going to be a mild inconvenience.

This is a Joe filled update, so let's combine a Kikiru-Hime and Lailah (I bought a second one from the compendium of course) to get Joe's first Fate demon in on the action. Kamapua'a isn't that stellar being a Unique Avatar and all, and his stats aren't all that well equipped for whatever he's going to do.

That said, his only weakness by default is Fire and I do believe he's the earliest source for Diarahan. That alone makes it worth using one for a little while; full HP recovery for a relatively small amount of MP? Don't mind if I do.

We have some time to kill now, so before we do anything else let's go do this event. No reason, I just got a good feeling about it.

[Music: Requiem]

drat... How did this happen...?
Open your eyes... Come on... Please...
It's no use. He can't hear you anymore...
No...! This has to be a bad dream... It has to be!

...Hm? Ah, it's you.
...This tragedy hurts both the dead and the survivors. The whole city is like this.
I thought my job would have conditioned me against seeing dead bodies...
But this situation isn't like that at all.
Are you a yakuza?

[Music: Silence]

Haha, do I look like one? You're very observant, kid.

[Music: In the Devastated Town]

Ironic. It's been so long since I've been out in the world, but it's much worse.
I hope me reunion with my daughter isn't like theirs...
You'll be fine.

Don't you give up either, kid. Life is like soccer.
You've gotta run when you're in trouble.

The mysterious man pats you on the back and walks away...

Now that we've got that out of the way we... still have some time before we can deal with Megrez.

Um, okay. We have enough time for 3 events before we can even try to worry about anything else. I think we should ask Fumi about the Terminal sooner rather than later though, so we'll do that.

So what about the other 2? :siren: :siren:

Feinne

When you fall, get right back up again.
As Dragonatrix noted, this is not a particular threat to an Unkillable run (though if you're particularly underleveled everything sort of is, so make sure you're keeping up with things). None of the enemy demons are a particular threat, so just keep things together and make sure parties can support each other. You can heal Ronaldo with spells and Race Skills, so if you're wanting to keep him up as well just get someone over to his side with things like Flight.

So, we see why Suparna is actually pretty amazing here as well. Winged Flight is super strong and almost worth bringing Avians a lot of the time. It's also pretty much mandatory for fighting Megrez and not having it be a clusterfuck, as we'll see when we get to that funderful fellow soon. Avians do still mostly suck sadly, but that brings me to the last topic for the day.

So, SDTP does have some uses, they're just really picky and require some set-up generally. SDTP can be useful for transiting around demons you've only got one of but have use for in multiple parties, such as mobility enhancers. You need to be smart about where you start them and how you're moving them since they always have to go through the main character, and you also need to be smart about where you leave parties and the very real risk of people ending up with only one demon for a while. I actually seem to recall I used SDTP on one of the NG+ only maps to do just this, because I was pretty much just soloing it with the MC anyway and had a party back away enough to not have to worry much about temporarily having one demon in it. Still nowhere near as useful as joint cracking though.

I really like the glimpse Joe's death clip battle gives into his character. Between this and the scenes we've seen with him talking about his girlfriend, we get a picture of him as someone who values his own life less than other people's. Behind that jokey front the dude's got some serious self-worth issues.

KNEEL BEFORE THE WICKED KING!
Wednesday's Changes (VII)

[Music: Exploration]

Before worrying about much of anything, let's go see what Fumi can tell us about the Terminals.

Erm... are you that girl who was with Hibiki? What do you need from me?
Um... well...
Someone say my name?

Hello, Hibiki? What's up? Haha, what was this girl's name again? I forgot.
She's Io.
Ahh, right, right. Mio, that was it...
I-It was Io... Io Nitta...
Oh. Really...? Huh.
A-Anyway, I came to ask Fumi about the Terminal.
About how it works?

Huh. That's why you're here? You want to know how the Terminal works?
Um, yes, that's right. Er... can you tell us?
Well, okay. But the Terminal actually wasn't completely developed by JP's.

His ancestors were missionaries to Tang China during the Nara period...

That being about 710-794 AD. Quite a long while ago!

It stands for "out of place artifact," and is basically that. It's a pretty stock sci-fi-y thing, really.

Whoa, slow down.
Hm? Did I say something strange? What about that didn't you understand?
Um... everything...?
Really?

Um... c-could you explain it in a really general way...?
Bottom-line it for us.
Hmm... well, all right...

Then the technology on the receiving end uses that data to reconstruct it...
Ugh, this sounds so stupid when I put it in such general terms. What nonsense.
I get it now.
Yeah... I think I understand it now too...
But... breaking a person down into information... is that even possible?

Right.
Yeah. Most than half of your body is hydrogen, 25% oxygen, 10.5% carbon, and...

Thus, of the 29 elements in your body, 98.4% of it is a mere four elements, and...

Fumi drones on and on...

Let's get out of here.
Y-Yeah...

You quietly leave with Io...

Okay, I think we should do something a bit more relaxing and simple after... that. Makoto's probably good for that.

[Music: JPs -Geomagnetism Research Department-]

I see... You let him go. No wonder it seemed strange.
...Yes, it was my decision.
Ronaldo agreed to cooperate with us in the Phecda battle. I freed him in return.

...I'm sorry, but I...
Ha... It's fine. Leave him be. He wasn't worth worrying about to begin with.
Huh?

[Music: Dark Clouds]

One splashing fish won't turn back the river... His time will come soon enough.

...Hm?

Hmph... To hear this from you... You may also do as you please, Sako.
...!

Th-That's...

Makoto bows low...

...I see. Do as you will. The time of choosing will come along eventually.

Yamato leaves through a door into a different room...

Makoto sighs, then notices you...

[Music: Exploration]

Cheer up.
Huh... Are you trying to comfort me? I'm a terrible superior officer... Thanks.
......
I owe JP's for the opportunity I was given when I joined.
What happened?
During my student years, I was a synchronized swimmer...

...That was when JP's contacted me.
They gave me a second life, and a reason to live again.
I'm not going to quit JP's. It's just not possible.
......
...There I go, running my mouth again. Excuse me.

Makoto walks away...

I realise that we haven't hung out with Otome in any real capacity yet. Good thing she narrowly beat out Hinako (by 1 whole vote!) this time, huh?

Oh, I saw you yesterday. How are you feeling now? Are you moving any better?
Oh, yes, Dr. Yanagiya. It's all thanks to you. You're just as good as they say.

All right, I'll be careful. Thanks so much!

The staff member walks away...

Are you busy?
Yes, considering the situation we're in... JP's doesn't have many medical doctors, either.
...Being a doctor for JP's requires more than medical technique.
To heal wounds inflicted by demons, you need spiritual power, too.

...Oh, my, I'm running my mouth again. Does hearing me talk like this trouble you?
I don't care.
Hehe... Thanks. You're a good listener. I may have to depend on you again.

A frantic staff member jumps in with a wounded companion...

Oh... On it! I'll be right there!
Sorry, Hibiki. Let's talk again later.

Otome runs away...

And Otome's the final person to get to Fate level 1, which makes sense honestly. And she gets two resistances just because being Magic/Vitality doesn't make her good enough already.

But okay, it's time to go and finally kick Megrez's everything in apparently.

[Music: JPs -Geomagnetism Research Department-]

Thank you for coming. Though the Terminal is back online, I know everyone fought hard.
Earlier, we gathered to discuss countermeasures against Megrez, the newest Septentrione.

We were investigating ways to eliminate it... but the situation has changed.

Daichi whispers to you...

(It's an operation.)
(What... A-An operation!? We're gonna have to fight again...?)

Wh... Three of them...? And they're all surfacing...?

Why the towers?
...A reasonable question, but every second counts right now. The answer will have to wait.

What a pain.
...Exactly. Very shrewd.
What? Um, sorry, but what are you two talking about?
...You're disrupting the flow of our conversation. It's very annoying, Shijima.
Um... uh... sorry...?

Yikes... You're serious!? How do we beat something like that!?

[Music: The Operation Starts]

Thought so.

...Any questions?
Is this deliberate?
Hahaha... I'm sorry, perhaps I inadvertently misled you.

Dubhe, Merak, Phecda... Looking back, the reason why they were annihilated...
It was largely your judgement. So you have a share in the decisions for this operation.

...Well, which team DO we join? :siren: :siren:

If you need help deciding (because we can't bring all the best characters this time), current character levels/Fate ranks are in the second post.

Feinne

When you fall, get right back up again.
To inform the decision, Megrez's map is definitely the hardest Septentrione map we've run into so far. That said, Dragonatrix does have strong enough demons and a main character in good enough shape to make it work with any of the possible parties. Let's talk about them for a bit:

Team Tokyo: Daichi, Io, Joe, Makoto- You've got a good mix of physical and magical capability in this team, but you don't really have anyone I'd consider 'top tier' You should probably use Io/Makoto and one of Joe and Daichi, depending on whether you want to give Makoto physicals or magic. I'm not sure what happens if Joe is dead, actually, I want to say Yamato might come along but he might not since you've still got three other party members.

Team Osaka: Keita, Hinako, Otome- This party consists entirely of top-tier characters and that's certainly something to be said for it. The only real downside here is that both Keita and Hinako are good physical attackers, but Keita can work well with regular physicals as well as Str/Agi ones, so just do that. It's not like you have or need Pierce yet anyway. If Keita died, I'm pretty sure Yamato joins you here briefly if you go with Team Osaka.

Team Nagoya: Airi, Jungo, Fumi- This party is probably the best all-around, since you get one great magic character and one great physical character with someone who can do pretty much everything alright. I actually really like Airi despite her not being exceptional at anything, so having her along isn't a deal breaker for me. Again, if Jungo is dead I'm pretty sure Yamato joins you for this fight.

Dragonatrix, is it okay if I talk about Yamato's stats and such when I talk about the Megrez fight since we in theory could have seen him this early?

Yeah, that's fine since he does take Keita's place should he die.

Ronaldo pops up in the Nagoya batch if Jungo's dead, and... I don't think anyone replaces Joe if he dies but I've never had Joe die so I dunno for sure.

That's the way it is, yes. Yamato and Clicky show up with the same demons, but I think their stats and maybe skill loadout are different. On the subject of the actual map, gently caress the actual map. We'll get to why when we get there, but its bullshit.

I don't think Megrez is an unfair challenge for its place in the game but it certainly does step poo poo up.

A lot of it also depends on how your demon situation is looking, honestly Dragonatrix is on the high end of where you can be at the end of this day and should probably roll Megrez like a drunk.

You're not really missing out on much. Yamato and Ronaldo do show up on the Megrez map depending on who's alive and who you go with, but they're like Makoto in the first map you have with her. They're yours to control, but they have their own demons/skills and are there just to steal exp.

There's an argument for Yamato for reasons, but really probably Daichi or Joe for basically all of the levels you will be in during the normal game. Yamato's problem is that he, Ronaldo, and the Anguished One are a triad of gimmick characters and Yamato's gimmick is kind of a hindrance if you're me. We'll discuss what exactly the deal with Yamato is when I discuss how his stats are.

Honestly I'd say Megrez is very possibly the hardest Septentrione fight. Not that it's more powerful than the remaining ones, but you've got MUCH better demons by even the next day's boss than you do here. It's also sort of non-intuitive because for me the best Unkillable strategy was to throw out all my normal rules of thumb and split the party and be incredibly aggressive. It also helps a LOT to be prepared with the right skills to fight Megrez proper on demons as well as the party. He's sort of like Matador in that regard, people think of him as hard because they remember that time he wrecked their poo poo when they went in totally unprepared but he's honestly one of the easiest bosses in the game because it's not terribly difficult to prepare such that he's largely unable to even injure your party. Because seriously all the Septentriones are pretty easy compared to the really tough fights.

I'm gonna surprise approximately no one at this point and say that I think it's Airi. Her stats are consistently awful, even Joe and Daichi have some form of niche use, and her only saving grace is getting two Fate resistances instead of one.

And then immediately afterwards you meet Otome who does that too, but has no competition at all. Even disregarding Otome stepping up and completely overshadowing Airi in every conceivable way, the two Fate resistances isn't much of an advantage over anyone else in the first place. It's undoubtedly meant to give you some incentive to use her, I guess, but... it just doesn't.

I'unno, I guess she might make a good field medic or something since stuff like Diarahan restores full HP regardless of stats but that kinda thing's really, really superfluous. There are entire races who make super-good healers already after all.

Unsurprisingly, this was very, very close between all 3 possible teams but in the end Osaka barely edged out the other two.

The members assigned to Osaka are secretly happy...

Oh right, and everyone in the chosen team gains 2 Fate points. Not much, but it's something I guess.

Is that so...? Then I leave command of Osaka to you.

There will be no second chance. Stay in constant communication and concentrate on defeating them all at once.
Now that's what I'm talking about, Hibiki! You know how great Osaka is!
Together again, it seems... I look forward to it.
What, you're hangin' with us in Osaka? Heh... Well, it's your call.
May luck be with you all. Let the operation begin!

Hmph. Looks like it ain't here yet. Is this really the place? JP's doesn't always know--
Hey...! Over there!

[Music: Silence]

[Music: Countdown]

Let's go. If we can defeat that thing, our mission is complete! We can do this!

Oh if only it was that easy.

Not only does Megrez do the usual trick of summoning a bunch of demons, he conjures up some miasmas too. One of which is inaccessible without (Winged) Flight.

Also despite only summoning Hamsas and Powers these things are somewhat tougher than they seem.

Tch... Demons, at a time like this.
It'll get bad if more demons show up. Let's get them before things get even worse!

[Music: Septentrion]

Mostly self-explanatory, but I have no idea what triggers that "take too many turns" defeat condition. I've never seen it happen so it's at the very least super generous.

These are our cracks for this fight. Yep. Mighty Hit and Phys Boost are the only skills we can get, and they're both only on Megrez. Keita and Otome don't have Fate 2 but it doesn't even matter.

Mighty Hit is like Anger Hit if Anger Hit didn't suck. It's a guaranteed critical but it doesn't miss constantly. Similarly, Phys Boost is Phys Up but better; it's a 20% boost instead of 10%.

Megrez itself is... actually kind of a threat. Making the last fight of Wednesday the first one that's a little challenging. Ruinous Wind is a free action thats basically Mazan-but-better.

Regenerate might as well be a passive since he only uses it to restore his HP on his turns (but never in battle), and Megrez Proof lets him plink at us from 6 spaces away. That 20 Vitality makes it even more of a pain. Regenerate combined with actual defence means it's going to take quite a while to remove all of its HP.

I dunno the actual value of his HP but there's a reason for that. It's tied into his gimmick. You'll see.

Anyway, let's do this thing. Getting the hard miasma out of the way first. You need a minimum move of 5 to even make it to/off of this platform; 6 lets you reach the miasma instantly.

Baphomet's currently sitting in the stock which is why Hibiki can remove it immediately.

That lets Keita be the first to actually fight something. Note that the Hamsas here all have Winged Flight, which will never happen for any you use.

Don't you love it when the game has to resort to blatant cheating to try and keep up? :v:

Anyway, Keita's running Jungo's usual moveset right now. His Power Hits aren't quite as impressive, but Keita's only got 21 Strength to Jungo's 27. Still more than enough to take out most anything here though.

MP Up is basically the same as HP Up but for MP.

I don't really use either, since the boosts they give aren't that great.

Anyway, I'm doing something weird up here. Rather than have Otome take out the Power, I'm switching with Hinako instead.

In retrospect I probably should've done this AFTER taking out the Power but oh well.

Either way, the plan's simple enough. Take out the Power, then the miasma in one fell swoop.

kungfudancingmedusa.gif right here.

Shame that it somehow cost Hinako her extra turn despite the Hamsa not resisting physicals at all and being weak to Curse. Weird.

Irritatingly, were it not for the Power being savvy enough to use Extra Cancel on Pendragon immediately afterwards we still would've taken it out.

Seriously look at that. 9 HP left, and we can't finish it off just yet.

At least it didn't bother even trying to heal and instead immediately picked a new fight with Hinako. A regular ol' lovetap turned it to stone and murderised it all at once.

Megrez's increased attack range is pretty annoying and extends a little further than you might expect it to. It's 6 spaces away from both of those possible attack points.

From where Hibiki is now, he can get to just outside that range, but that would aggro the Power and/or Hamsa stood right there. Not really worth the hassle yet.

So, he just waits on his little platform and lets the Power and Hamsa head down to where everyone else is congregating.

Which, uh, wasn't necessarily a great idea. The Suparnas have Mazans that aren't completely worthless. Well, when it comes to something like Lailah they can get a bit of a hit in at least.

Man, that was a close one. Good thing Keita can deal decent punchy damage, Neko Shogun has Mazio and Lailah's spells are pretty alright.

More importantly, Otome has Diarama for emergencies like this. I'd rather not lose anything this early on.

But in getting to heal Keita, she has to stand just at the edge of the last Hamsa's attack range.

Which doesn't really matter. Wendigo's pretty good at hitting dudes really hard and Otome has a good magic stat.

...Of course, Keita was one space away from the miasma when it spat out a new demon. It's a minor inconvenience, but still.

Okay, bugger it. We're at Megrez now; Suparna's not gonna help that much now. His Multi-Hit crits pretty often buuuuut Megrez resists physicals AND has Retaliate. It's high-risk-low-reward to try it.

So instead, let's pull out a Tlaloc that I picked up solely for this fight. I made one ages ago, so I might as well use it right?

[Music: Break Out]

It's not that great, but its Ice Dance is sufficient for now. That's just two hits but that's still more damage than Multi-Hit could deal.

Unfortunately, Megrez is kind of a jerk who likes to run around. A lot.

You cannot kill him in the first skirmish even if you do deplete all of his HP (well, almost; he stops at 1 of course). He has to run around the map a bunch before you're allowed to win. It's kind of a stupid gimmick.

And it's supposed to happen at set HP amounts too. If he drops below that amount, he restores himself all the way up to where he's "meant" to be.

Ordinarily, this'd be no big deal but the game doesn't tell you how much it restores when it does that. You just have to guess. Bleh.

Hey... It's running away! Get back here, you bastard!

Your phone rings...

But, of course, that's only part of the gimmick. There's something else we know it can do but it hasn't yet...

Ah, that's more like it. Every time it runs to a new part of the harbor, it spits out one of the buds from before.

It only does one at a time, but they can add up pretty quick if you never bother to take them out.

[Music: Septentrion]

But we'll deal with that when we can. For now, we'll do something weird and have Otome switch with Keita when stood right next to him.

I'm using Switch in weird ways here just to try and find some form of non-escorty niche use for it. It seems to be working pretty okay at that I guess.

Anyway, this lets her wreck the Hamsa on the miasma. The Shiisaa narrowly survives, but it doesn't matter really.

Wendigo still gets to upgrade Bind to Evil Bind.

On top of reducing the target teams movement to 1, if it works it makes them skip their entire next turn too. Oh yeah, "if." It can fail, and it probably will against everything you want to use it on. It sounds pretty alright otherwise, but... I've never used it and had it actually work. :v:

The reasoning for my insanely circuitous Switch antics has been revealed once again. I had Keita move here and then immediately end his turn. Admittedly, that was by accident, but it's functionally better that I did that. It lets him break this phone...

Then switch out Neko Shogun for Suparna. Flight or Phantasm is needed to access the boat, but just for the obstacle ignoring factor this time. Range isn't a problem here.

With Suparna added, he can waltz onto this boat and pick a fight with the Power that spawned here.

Look at this critical Power Hit. It... it's beautiful.

Since this Bud is the only thing around right now that could be a nuisance let's get rid of it. Rather not have to deal with Diastrophisms.

The Megrez buds are completely unchanged from the first time we fought one. Even though they're immune to Curse it doesn't stop Hinako's fists from flying. It just stops the buds from being Petrified by them.

They still drop in a single skirmish so it doesn't matter all that much in practice.

Megrez continues to be an irritating jerkface. He'll just sit here and Regenerate until something wanders within attack range. It doesn't restore MUCH HP (a little under 90), but its the principle of the thing.

And a new demon spawns right in front of Keita just before he can get rid of the miasma. The miasmas here run on a maximum spite principle, I swear.

Oh well, Otome gets to switch there and take it out instead.

This helps, especially since Kamapua'a's functionally out of MP at this point.

He can punch pretty okay at least and the shock means the Power drops in one hit.

Which lets Otome get rid of the last miasma. Now we just have Megrez and the occasional Bud to take out.

To avoid uncounterable attacks, I had to slip Suparna back into Hibike's party at this point. Now we can see why Multi-Hits aren't all that great here.

Like 3 of 4 were crits, and 2 of them were still sub-30. Its high Vitality combined with Phys resistance means Megrez does not get punched very hard, especially by something like Suparna who relies on its insane crit rate to keep up.

Also there's this. Which happens pretty much every time you try to use physicals.

And it hurts quite a bit! Megrez is not a total pushover.

Still, since it's going to run anyway might as well take the opportunity to regain some MP. Depleting Megrez's doesn't matter since Ruinous Wind costs nothing and Mighty Hit is a physical skill.

Surprising no one, Megrez runs away and puts its HP where it "should" be. Again.

Out of all the Septentrion gimmicks so far, Megrez's is my least favourite because it's just so tedious.

Since we took out the other bud already, the new one drops right in front of Hinako.

This ends up being a monumentally bad idea. She took out the last one in a single skirmish. The same thing happens this time.

Thanks to Megrez's new location, Hibiki can't get close enough to hit it even with the improved range from Winged Flight. Fortunately, we have someone sitting in the stock who can help us out with this one.

Hey Baphomet. I wasn't gonna let you sit out the entire time; I didn't make it explicitly for this fight but it helps so why not use it.

Oh, right. I made a different, non-awful Baphomet between updates by using Nalagiri (and a Pyro Jack) since I totally forgot I had that and it learned Anti-Phys.

[Music: Break Out]

And because this Baphomet has nearly 30 magic, its Ice Dances are really, really good. It's the small things, but it speeds this up so, so much.

Ruinous Wind is kinda damaging I guess. Would be a problem if I had Force weaknesses but eh. As is, its regular attacks are more of a threat and the only thing that warrants legitimate worrying is Mighty Hit anyway.

...And Megrez runs away. Again. Of course it does.

Thankfully, this is the last time this happens so now we can go and finally murder this thing.

Last bud plops down between everyone else who was totally not waiting for this to happen, honest.

In a change of pace, Hinako isn't taking this one out. Rather, I'm leaving it to Keita to finish off.

It doesn't really make a difference, but he hasn't had much to do beyond tank a bunch of hits and get screwed by bad timing. Might as well let him step up and finish off something important for once.

Also, Megrez is a dick and can barely hit Hibiki from his new location. Thanks, buddy.

Most importantly, it uses that range to throw a Mighty Hit on Pyro Jack taking it out.

Oh no, whatever will I do now?

I guess I'll just use Hinako's instead. It's a higher level, has the same skillset and she doesn't need it any more.

This fight is significantly harder than everything else that's happened on Wednesday. I can see it giving someone serious trouble if they don't fully know what to expect. totally not speaking from experience

Problem is, looking at it again, it doesn't really rely on being actually difficult to give you a challenge. It buffs a bunch of chaff demons to distract you and has miasmas that you might not even be able to reach without the "right" demon. It's sort of unfair like that; you might think you know what to expect from the Bud before and then Megrez itself is completely different.

Even if you do know what to expect, and prepare accordingly, it takes ages anyway. It's more of a long, tedious slog. Megrez's gimmick does not help in any way.

It's definitely my least favourite Septentrion fight so far. And I am glad this is over.

The bonus EXP gives Kamapua'a Diarahan and I am fusing that onto so many things. Hibiki hit level 33 from the post-battle bonus too and lets me fuse like 5 new things. Level 33 is great for new demons.

Okay, this is where the anime goes from decent to outright terrible. Megrez just randomly takes Joe, Otome, and RONALDO out with him, as Airi and Jungo barely escape. Oh, and yeah, you see the death clip, but there is literally nothing anyone gets to do to change that. gently caress the anime.

AradoBalanga
Jan 3, 2013

Oh hey, I can talk about some anime differences again. Mainly, how different Megrez is handled. :words: inbound.

We are at episode 8 of the anime. As mentioned earlier, if a character is dead, Yamato and/or Ronaldo step up as support in the game to help with Megrez. Well, since Keita was killed off in episode 3 and Hinako was hospitalized with injuries she suffered fighting Merak, both Yamato and Ronaldo do join the battle. Yamato is given control of Tokyo on his own, Ronaldo coordinates the Nagoya operation with a different team (Joe, Otome, Jungo, Airi and himself), while the main trio of Hibiki, Dachi and Io handle Osaka. A few of you are probably curious as to where Fumi and Makoto are during this; they are running tech support at JPs. No really, they are literally tech support during this. And then a few other people are wondering why Joe and Otome are in Nagoya; that involves spoilers for the game that are railroaded into this point of the anime, so I have to hold off on that sadly. Just remember that little detail. Now for Megrez himself. If you thought him moving about on the map was annoying, try imagining that everyone successfully defeating Megrez, only for his Nagoya body (and ONLY his Nagoya body) to launch one final attack that kills off Ronaldo, Joe and Otome. Yes, three important characters actually DIE in this episode, with both Joe and Otome only having been introduced barely two episodes ago. But the bigger issue is Ronaldo. You can see how here is where the anime gets some of its bad rep: Ronaldo dying at this point (in what amounts to shock value) essentially cuts out later parts of the game. Plus, his role up to this point was dramatically reduced. He went from a major counterpoint to Yamato's philosophies to just someone who doesn't like Yamato, but begrudgingly works with him due to the situation. With Ronaldo out of the way, the anime is now fully allowed to continue with its path of Hibiki vs. Yamato like it has done for most of the show.

When you fall, get right back up again.
Let's talk about Megrez!

So Dragonatrix gave an amazing summary of why Megrez is a pain in the rear end, you're up against a bunch of really irritating chaff that you may or may not even be able to stop from respawning on you while dealing with a boss that moves around and Megrez buds falling from the sky. Even worse, you're on a time limit of some kind (it's pretty generous and shouldn't be a real problem but it's definitely there). I pretty much agree with this strategy, keep the party back to deal with the demons/miasmas/buds while the main character focuses on Megrez. One thing you can do to speed things up is get a good magic party like Otome, Io, or Fumi up to the third place Megrez will go to once things are in control and have them ready to just pop his rear end as soon as he moves, which should leave you able to just run the MC in and finish the map. As far as adds, your priority should be Megrez Bud>Miasma>Demon Party. Diastrophism is incredibly threatening and you never want to let one of the Buds live long enough to cast it. Never be shy about using Flight/Phantasm to bypass a demon and clear a miasma if you get the chance, Suparna's actually pretty good so for once you're not hamstringing yourself by having an Avian. The fight is really long and drawn out, and has lots of moving parts. Still, there aren't a lot of things on it that are really threatening if you handle them properly.

Let's talk about the two characters who 'could' join us for just this fight since they are totally real characters who could actually for reals join us in the future.

Yamato Hotsuin: Yamato is a Str/Mag character. He's also one of the most fragile characters in the game in terms of raw stats. He doesn't ever put much into Vitality and he has one of the smallest health pools in the game (though I'm pretty sure he gets some secret bonus health over what anyone else with his stats would have). It's sort of deceptive, because he is resistant to physical attacks thanks to Fate level 1 and also has a secret hidden resistance to Almighty. Still, he's not particularly different from Io or Makoto and not really that impressive in the end.

Ronaldo Kuriki: Ronaldo is a Str/Vit character. He is a lot like Jungo, but instead of having the worst Magic in the game, he has the worst Agility. Expect Ronaldo to always go last, basically. He's good but I'm not sure I'd use him over the other physical characters. He might get a bit more health than normal for his level and stats I think, but not so much that it's really noticeable. That's really... someone else's gimmick. I'll talk about that later when we get to the point where it could come up.

Also I'm really glad now I didn't ever watch the anime because even though I don't really like Ronaldo the plot really does need him later on.

The worst part about the anime at this point though, is that this episode also gives brief flashes into how good it could have been. The actual fight against Megrez, as I recall, was pretty entertaining. Airi actually manages to get a nice moment, Berserker is flying around and tearing massive holes into Megrez, and Yamato's brief moments are pretty cool as well. But then everything just crashes and burns at the end and you realize that no, this is going to suck really badly.

He's good but I'm not sure I'd use him over the other physical characters. He might get a bit more health than normal for his level and stats I think, but not so much that it's really noticeable. That's really... someone else's gimmick. I'll talk about that later when we get to the point where it could come up.

Yeah, HP and MP aren't purely based on stats and level; there's some kind of innate multiplier value that's different for different characters (and demons). Usually characters and demons with high HP will have low MP and vice versa, but that's not an absolute rule and there are a couple of things that very obviously break it.

When you fall, get right back up again.
Yes, the game does treat petrified characters as having Resist Phys, so you do have some problems with losing extra turns until you get Mutli-Strike and then everything dies unless it has Repel Phys.

Yeah that makes sense. I am really good at confusing myself and missing the obvious answer, apparently. :v:

KNEEL BEFORE THE WICKED KING!
Real Changes

Before we go see Clicky, we've got a lot of fusing to do. Let's get to it!

We'll start off by combining a Flauros with Kamapua'a to make a pretty good Touki demon. Aggravate, Assassinate and +Stone are all on Ikusa by default. That's pretty nuts since not only does it enable guaranteed crit, but it can pretty safely oneshot enemy leaders without worry or at the least probably petrify them.

Even if the leader doesn't die, if it gets petrified that unit can no longer move or initiate combats. Functionally, it doesn't even get turns until its cured. They still "happen," but are immediately skipped instead.

So we have to counterbalance the good with the bad. Arahabaki is what we got for Jungo's Fate 3 reward and... she's really not worth it. On the one hand, her stats seem pretty good, she learns Bufudyne in a couple levels and has Awakening too.

...On the other hand, there's only 2 free passive skills and 4 weaknesses. Arahabaki effectively single-handedly justifies the use of Strengthen for that reason alone. We can better mitigate these kind of things further down the road but right now it's a colossal pain.

Barbatos is a pretty cool Fallen demon. If his strength was boosted instead of his magic, he'd have a deadly combo in Mighty Hit + Crit Up since that's permanently guaranteed crits combined with a passive that makes crits deal even more damage.

Instead, he has a usual Force Dance + Force Boost combo. Oddly, though, he has Force Boost by default but nothing to use it with.

Ikusa + Wendigo made this particular Afanc. Anti-Fire's to patch his Fire weakness. Not much special there. Might pair it with Baphomet or something to enable a larger attack area.

And now for the big main event of level 33...

Baphomet + Apis made this wonderous Moloch. Our newest Tyrant who can be self-sufficient in two ways, dance all night and resist flimsy punches. Moloch is sticking around for quite a while as you might expect.

Oh and even though I'm showing this guy last I made it first so I could combine it with a Baphomet for the Arahabaki, and a Kamapua'a for Barbatos.

Now that we have our new demon lineup ready for Thursday, let's go see what Clicky wanted to show us.[/i]

We're all clear.
Well... you remember when we attacked the JP's branch?
You were weak.

I got as many files as I could off their computer... so I could expose their conspiracy.
I didn't get much, due to the security and time constraints. But I found this.

[Music: Dark Clouds]

Uh...

Call me Captain Obvious here, but that's pretty blatantly not-good. You'd think this should be something we'd have been told about by now.

What is this?

Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya... We know those three cities are safe.
But don't you think it's odd...?
True...
...See, that's what I'm getting at.

But apart from those first three cities... there's been no mention of the others since.

And this is why?
I don't know... We have no way of finding out what that black, scarlike thing in the photo is.

Is there a way to check?
Hmm... It would be great if we could go directly to places like Fukuoka or Sapporo, but...
Given the situation, it won't be easy.
What about the Terminals?
The Terminals... Wait a second. There is a way!

If the Terminals let them travel between branches like Tokyo and Nagoya...
There must be a Terminal in their Fukuoka branch too! Good thinking, Hibiki!
How do we get there?
Hrm... You're right. JP's uses special codes to control the Terminal destinations.

Unfortunately not...
I see. Hm... That's a problem.
Would someone have them?
Most likely... JP's controls the Terminals, after all.

On the other hand... someone who knows a lot about JP's equipment might have them.
I'll look for them.
Thanks. I'll give you this, if it helps...

I'll also try to dig up whatever information I can. Well then...

You say your farewells to Ronaldo and leave...

[Music: Exploration]

Well that was a spontaneous new plot point from the least likely source.

So let's not capitalise on it at all and go talk with Io about something to finish up that little event line for the time being.

Wake up.
Oh, Hibiki... S-Sorry...
I was, uh, just trying to sort out what Fumi told us about the Terminal...
Let me help you.
Huh? Oh, wow... Thanks...!

The reason the Terminal can transport people is that we're just information too, right?
Right.
Mm... so what about demons?

[Music: The Enigma Deepns]

Them too, I'd think.
Oh... good, that's what I thought too.
I mean, demons appear out of thin air, right?

Yeah.
Ah... whew. I'm glad to hear you agree...
But if that's true... where would the demons' information come from?
Good question.
Yeah, because when the Terminal sends people, there's a place they come from...

That may be.
Yeah... We can't say for sure, because there's no way to confirm it...
But the demon's location, the cause of the calamity, and the Septentriones...

Io seems lost in thought...

[Music: Exploration]

Oh, sorry... Um, I'll try thinking about it some more.
We still don't know much, but I think we've made some progress... Thanks, Hibiki.

You say your farewells to Io and leave the area...

Now we can really begin to unwind a bit. We'll start by checking in on the kitty that Jungo found I guess.

Meow...
Isn't it great how he's getting better so fast?
Mhm... It's all thanks to you and Hibiki. Thank you.
Oh, it's not a problem. I'm a doctor. Saving lives is what I do.

Meow...
Mew!
Hehe... He seems to like you. I'm jealous.
Oh, yeah. Jungo, we should give him a name while we're taking care of him.
A name?

...All right. I will think of a name...

Jungo cogitates deeply...

Got anything?
Mhm...?
What is it? "Cookie"? "Buttons"? "Mac"?

Perfect.

Huh?

[Music: A Moment of Rest]

It's the easiest name I can remember. I will name him Jungo.
...Maybe, but that's gonna get really confusing...
Is that a bad name...?
Uh... No... But...
Then you pick a name, Hibiki.

...C'mon, there's only really one option here.

Jungo.
You too, Hibiki? Maybe I'm getting too old for this new kind of humor...
Jungo... From now on, you're Jungo.
Meow!

I hope you get better really fast, little Jungo...
...? I'm fine.
No, the cat... See? I said it'd be confusing!
Mew?

[Music: Silence]

Otome, is Jungo going to survive?

[Music: In the Devastated Town]

...What about after that?
Even if he gets better... Can he survive out in this world?
Oh... That's...
......
Mya?

Jungo gently pets Jungo...

[Music: Exploration]

I'm sure Jungo'll be fine.

Next up, let's go see what Fumi is doing to Jungo.

Oh, Hibiki, what's up? Actually, don't answer that, I'm busy.
......
Mmph. There. Now it's ready...
Oh, Hibiki, what's up? Didn't I just ask you that?

This is Jungo, my guinea pig. I chose him because he's healthy and sturdy.
Hm... I will do my best.

Hm...

Jungo begins punching buttons on his phone...

Is it on? All right, I'm activating the test.

Fumi's machine is getting louder and louder...

......

...?
Hmm. So the ratio changes at this point... Then...
...Whoa.

[Music: A Moment of Rest]

I see. No irregularities here.
Really?

Good job, Jungo. Now, can we go through this one more time?

Jungo fiddles with his phone again...

Hmm... I see. So, that's what that means. Then...

You leave before things get too dangerous...

[Music: Exploration]

Poor Jungo; it's a good thing he has all that HP to tank this machine in the name of social links Fate events science.

Ah well, next up on our agenda is hanging out with Io for something other than "where do demons even come from?" for a change.

It's closed here, too... I wonder if everyone's been evacuated...
Looking for a bookstore?
Oh... Hibiki. Yeah, I'm looking for a book. I was hoping the shops were open...
But... How'd you know I was looking for a bookstore?

As much as I'd love to pick Maerlyn's Grapefruit here, it doesn't have a particularly great reaction and it's the only "wrong" choice. Shame; I'd be willing to put up with the minor hit to Fate points for the sake of something cool but alas Io's boring.

Call it intuition.
Oh, really? That's odd.
...I can't find what I'm looking for, though. Everything's closed.
Maybe I should just give up...
What are you looking for?

Makes sense all things considered.

And also... Reference books? I don't really care what they're about...
Good for you.
Oh... thanks... I just...
Around this time, I'd usually be studying, and it's hard to not be doing anything...

Think it might be a bit late for that. Call it a hunch.

What else could I be studying, Hibiki?
Something useful.
...That would make sense. But what's useful to know?
I guess this whole "society" thing's over... I'm gonna go look around some more.

Io walks away, lost in thought...

Hathor is a pretty sweet Fate 3 demon. We can even make her right now, since she's level 31.

In fact, by combining a Suparna with Ghost Q we do just that. She normally has a Physical weakness, which is awful. Thankfully Nalagiri can be fused with Orthrus to make Suparna so we can get take advantage of Anti-Phys pretty easily.

With the last of our 6 demons for the start of Thursday now in hand, we'll go see what Hinako's up to.

[Music: Silence]

Hibiki! Great timing!
Hold your horses.

[Music: Countdown]

Help! There's someone trapped under the rubble! I need your help!
That's where you come in! Can you help me out? It'll be tough with just us two, but... Oh!

Ah, Keita! Great timing! Can you help us!?
...Hmm?
There's someone trapped under the debris! It's too heavy for us...
So? What does that have to do with me?
We're all from Osaka! We have to help each other!
I don't give a rat's rear end. Go ask someone else.
You don't think you can?

Come on! We're wasting precious time! If we all work together, we can...

Huh? Hey, wait!

Keita stalks away...

Hey! Keita!

[Music: Exploration]

...Tch.
I'll never forget you, for as long as I live...!

The woman profusely thanks Keita and walks away...

...Whatever. I'm outta here.
Th-Thank you. You moved that debris all by yourself... You're really strong.
It's nothing. I'm a boxer.
A boxer... That makes sense. You're pretty fit, after all.
But, man, that's impressive. I couldn't budge that thing an inch when I tried.
...What can I say? Lady arms. I'm outta here.

Keita leaves...

Hmm... What can I do?
Dancing, I guess...? But that's not much help...
Oh, but thank you, too, Hibiki. Keita did everything, but you were some help!

You say goodbye to Hinako before leaving the area...

Peri's level 38 so we won't be seeing her for a little while. Not much of a problem though; we'll most likely get there sooner rather than later.

And we'll wrap things up with some Joe time. Sounds good.

Hey, Hibiki. Thanks for the other day. You were a great help.
You mean your girlfriend?
Yeah. You gave me some advice, remember?

I was so relieved. They said she was really ill, but she looked pretty good.
We were able to have a normal conversation. We talked a lot, haha!

That's good.
Yeah... I feel refreshed, like a weight has been lifted.

Congratulations!
Hey, thanks! It's great to get a friend to give me their blessing.
I thought it would all work out, somehow. In a world like this, crazy makes sense.
Aside from the ceremony and stuff, I guess we just needed to know how we felt.

And, well... I'll take care of her, like I'm supposed to.
See you later. Think about that speech! I want something hilarious and tear-jerking! ♪

Joe looks serious for a moment...

Joe walks away, singing a strange song...

...Oh, apparently I can't count now either. Man, I am bad at things.

Uh anyway, yeah, I miscounted and there's a 6th free event before the end of Wednesday. Well, let's see what Yamato's problems are then.

[Music: Connected Hearts]

I'm very sorry! This is completely my fault...!
...Tell me the situation.
We let a few demons go, and there's a lot of damage on our end...
And the cause?

......I understand.
...Huh?
I said I understand. Is that all you have to report to me?
Y-Yes, Sir... What's going to happen to me...?

Huh? But what about--
Don't make me say it twice. ...Go.
......! Excuse me...

The member leaves..

You're not punishing him?
Ha... Punish him? I'd only try that on those who still have a chance of improvement.
Trash materials provide trash performance. That's it. It's not worth punishing him.

And yet, there are simple, modern people. Training does not improve their powers.

But I cannot understand you... You are a civilian, but you have performed amazing feats.
Where did you get the grounding to do such things?
It's a talent.

Sadly there is no "It's called being the main character" option.

That's how the talents slumbering within you have blossomed. Impressive.
I look forward to seeing how far you will continue to surpass my expectations.

Yamato returns to his work...

[Music: Exploration]

And now whenever Yamato gets around to joining the party, he can already joint skill crack. Which is probably gonna help a ton I'm sure.

Now we can go to sleep. And nothing else but a few free battles; they're no different to normal this time, so we'll just head off to bed.

[Music: In the Devastated Town]

I have compiled a simple summary of your actions on this day...
Well? Would you like to hear it?
Let's hear it.
Understood. Well then...

You spoke to them about gaining a clearer understand of what is happening in this world...
...After which, Master Daichi made a rather crude suggestion in regards to the health exam.

But another bud appeared soon after, allowing you a chance to meet my master.
By the way, what impression did he leave after your meeting?

You went to Osaka at Yamato's request and took part in a discussion concerning Megrez.
It seems JP's had no prepared countermeasure if Megrez had not surfaced on its own...

You also used the Terminal for the first time. It seems you are already accustomed to it.
I constantly marvel at your extraordinary talent.
I'm sure you know this already as well...
But the tension between JP's and the civilians appears to be mounting.

Vital supplies are scarce in these times. People have begun to turn on one another...
I wonder if JP's will be able to settle matters.
Next, you watched your friend, Master Yuzuru, die in one of our death clips.

You also fought against the Septentrione Megrez and defeated it.
Congratulations on your hard-won victory over it.
But about the photo of Fukuoka Master Ronaldo appropriated from JP's...

If so, what is the black scar devouring the land...?
...This concludes my overview of the day's events.
May your tomorrow bE a nICE daY As wEll...

As usual, we have some emails to give a once over before the day comes to its close.

actually lemme do it in text too. sorry i left you alone so long. you don't have to worry bout anything anymore!

ok, see you tomorrow!

Oh, Joe. :allears:

get it. hehe sorry.

seeyaaa

By the way, Daichi and Joe are so bad! I told a white lie to Makoto to cover for you, but give them a scolding for me!

Is Jungo supposed to be the one meowing at the cat? I have a hunch it's supposed to be Hibiki.
