I love when libertarians try and argue that free market/libertarian ideas are more environmentally friendly than (insert other options here). Of course when pointed to cases like this the response is usually along the lines of: "It's the regulation that makes them pollute. Cause they can pay off the regulators to keep them from not regulating them enough and ...."

Oh god, I just got to the end: quote:Universal equality and classical democracy are not synonymous with an all-purpose, lowest-common-denominator leveling of mankind. Rather, they speak only to an existential fairness in which each of us has the right to value, direct and make meaning of our own lives. This ol' chestnut. Yeah, let's not actually ensure that people are treated fairly in areas where such actions can be regulated, but assume that people are benevolent, rational actors. You know, in spite of almost all of human history where society has done the exact opposite. Using "existential" or "philosophical" in front of fairness has basically turned into a dog whistle for "don't tell rich, mostly white male, people not to gently caress everyone they can over, and blame the victims when it happens". This is such wonderful persecution porn. I've never seen people so mad that they aren't being jack booted by what amounts to American Nazi's and attacked constantly by black people. Day by Day isn't even alt-history or a dystopian future, it isn't even just alt-present fiction. My point is that the right does not has an inconsistent position when it comes to "Support Our Troops" just because they oppose Bergdahl who according to the government investigation into his disappearance (per NYT) left his post. Therefore the Bennett isn't some sick burn on Republican inconsistence in this matter. Also the right is only saying that now. There's more than a few people who have dug up posts of GOP members calling for Bergdal to be rescued and "How dare you leave our boys behind OBUMMAR!" as recently as last year who are now frothing that Obama bothered to save such a piece of poo poo. It's smoke and mirrors and if GWB or another Republican had been in power there wouldn't be any sort of controversy around this rescue. The only point that needs to be taken from that Tolkien comic is that the author just wants to say offensive stuff and not be called on it. You could replace Tolkien with Twain, Roddenberry, or loving Plato and the message is the same as a million other anti-PC comics: "Why can't you just let me say [racial epithet/sexist taunt/culturally bigoted remark] and not bother me!?"

Is the person you're calling "Negro" of Spanish decent, speaks Spanish, or have any connection to Latin America, Mexico, or Spain?
