On signing confessions and everything...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=08fZQWjDVKE

American cop talks about why you shouldn't talk to the police without a lawyer. He goes into all the different deceitful things they use to get people to sign confessions (he asks the accused to write an apology letter to the family that got their t.v stolen, and then just gives the apology letter to the judge as a confession). But it's OK, he says, because they try really hard to only catch badguys the first time around.

That's a really useful ladder to reach to that area that you are reaching without using the ladder at all.

Almost 2 years ago, workers at a frozen pizza factory in Milwaukee (Palermo's Pizza) tried to form a union and they had a strike and yada yada mass firings and threatened deportations. As things cooled down, management wanted to make sure things didn't heat back up, so they put up some nice posters about why unions are bad. The above is one such poster, and I think it is a work of art. If you can't see it, the people in the right have all their unique and individual names written on them.

Sorry for the low-quality image. Someone probably took it on their phone.

In the fall, JRRose made puns. Now, he is just upset. He's just angry. Everyone's favorite grandpa has finally snapped.

I want to reverse-adopt him into my family or something. He's the greatest.

So on the Haiti thing, the New York Times had a good article about how, after the earthquake, American aid, under the direction of the State Department, got used for businesses that had little to nothing to do with the earthquake aid. I was thinking that hey, maybe Rall has a point about how after disasters the US helps fix things, but they fix things into the way they want, maybe not how the locals want.

But no, Rall is just dumb and means that relief soldiers go around bazooka-ing women.

The label on the bucket is awkward. That's my biggest complaint. Also, maybe it would have been cool to have the words in the label of the melted witch to also melt? So that we know the label is of the witch, not the puddle (the argument melted, not that the melted thing is the argument). That might have been hard to write so that it didn't look dumb, though.

So has Fox News actually done anything like this on the plane, or is this just a general "Fox blames Obama for everything"? I'm just getting the feeling that this is like how the right-wing cartoonist blame the MainStreamMedia for all these bad things and it works since their base doesn't watch the MSM to know that the cartoonists are liars.

Do we blame Fox for a bunch of poo poo because we don't actually watch it so just assume it really is the stereotype?

So in class today, we were supposed to bring in three political cartoons and share them with the group and something something. One person in my group brought in this cartoon:

Her explanation: "I didn't know what this one meant, so I asked my boyfriend. He said that Obama is trying to legalize abortion, and legalize it up to the day before the baby is born. That's what the contraception part is about. The Catholic Church is obviously upset about that."

I'm a sad person now. I didn't know what to say, so I said nothing...
