Born a dwarf, dealing with the prejudice, keeping out of the affairs of Los Zetas and other nasties, and THEN Aztechnology came along. poo poo was merely bad prior to Aztech, but then it was just awful. He could put up with the Aztlan thugs kicking him around and making fun of his metatype, had to draw the line when the Aztlan thugs broke Salvador's photo of his grandma and acted like it was no big deal. He kicked the everlasting poo poo out of the three thugs, stole their guns, and began a life on the lam spent killing Aztlan thugs early and often. In short, Salvador's life has consisted of avoiding being killed by a wide variety of pendejos. He has gotten very good at this, so good in fact that eventually Ares picked him up as a supreme specialist in the time-old arts of killing-poo poo-that-is-trying-to-kill-Salvador-which-is-usually-everything. Plus side of this is getting to kill more Aztechies (Ares loves trimming down the competition) with bigger and better weapons than ever. Salvador was inducted into the Desert Wars by Ares on a simple condition---if Salvador survives the Desert Wars, Ares will start smuggling their weapons to anti-Aztlan resistance fighters in Mexico to help oppose Aztlan. Salvador's plans for the latest Desert Wars are simple---kill Aztech minions for fun, and kill everyone else that is not Ares or Ares affiliates for business. And with Salvador's new Ares Alpha's grenade launcher, business is going to literally be booming. InfiniteJesters fucked around with this message at 11:33 on Mar 20, 2014 |

No, but choosing between 140,000 and 6000 nuyen as your only options is a tough choice if you're like me and don't spend bonus karma on nuyen. Also there are situations where Magic: D Adept is a good buy.

Name: Nina Walker Age: 29 Metatype: Dwarf Background: Nina wasn't always known by her current name, but most of that information was quite willingly forgotten by Nina to be able to be where she is today. To her family, her old friends and her old enemies, she's dead. She died while working the shadows to help pay for a better education and a better life for herself, or at least, that's the story that was told. The real story wasn't much different except for the details. The woman got in deep with some less-than-professional shadowrunners who were doing jobs to cause chaos. Nina just wanted to make some money, but she couldn't get her own way out. The group did a job against one of Ares' subsidiaries, but Ares convinced Nina to do the right thing, turning on her team leading to a lot of explosions and death. Ares used the opportunity to get themselves a dedicated, young decker who had plenty of potential and Nina got a new lease on life, with money and education she couldn't get herself otherwise. Since joining Ares, Nina's taken every chance she can to be a different person. With the money and time she has, she's put a lot of effort into being as good as she can at her new job working cybersecurity for Knight Errant. She's also taken in the corporate lifestyle, learning things that she wouldn't think of trying to learn before all this: Languages, protocols, business knowledge, style, whatever she could get her hands on. The more she learned, the more she felt like she could be a different person. Most people know now not to dig into her past, because they won't find much at all. pre:Priority: Resources A (450,000 nuyen), Skills B (36/5), Metatype C (Dwarf (1), Attributes C (16), Magic E BOD: 4 (6) AGI: 2 REA: 2 (4) STR: 3 WIL: 5 LOG: 6 (8) INT: 5 CHA: 2 EDG: 2 MAG: 0 ESS: 1.2 INI: 7 (9) + 1d6 (+ 3d6) LIMITS: M8(9) | P4(5) | S4 BOXES: P10, S11, OF3 Positive Qualities: Natural Hardening (10) Negative Qualities: Weak Immune System (+10) Skills: 36/5 Combat Active Pistols 4 Physical Active Survival 2 Technical Skills Electronics Group 5 Cybercombat 6 Electronic Warfare 6 Hacking 6 First Aid 4 Navigation 3 Vehicle Active Pilot Groundcraft 3 Knowledges: English N Japanese 3 Mandarin 3 Arabic 3 Street: Ares Macrotechnology 3 Street: Security Companies 3 Academic: Business 3 Academic: Economics 2 Interest: Fashion 2 Contacts: (6 free) Delilah (Con 3/Loyal 3) - Elf Fixer focused on bleeding-edge mil-tech. Hey, what is the deal with bikes, trucks, and stuff? Do we need to buy them or will they be provided? Same question but with ammo. Will there be chances to restock or should I buy a huge rear end stash? I have like 50k left to spend and want to finish up my guy tonight.

A rigger might want an assortment of things, but in the general case transportation will be provided. Buy your own ammo. It's cheap.

Internal Ares Memos regarding Mr. White quote:From: Celeste Vanderhoeven/ Assistant Director, Ares Global Entertainment quote:From: Jenaveve Valenti / Assistant to Karen King quote:From: Celeste Vanderhoeven/ Assistant Director, Ares Global Entertainment quote:Tag: Urgent Tony Rizzo, born in the gutters of the Barrens, rode with the Ancients for a bit and rose up to be an enforcer among them. Simply working for them didn't really sit right with him so he bounced from the Ancients to the mob (thanks to an italian mother), and finally hit the shadows. His speciality was wetwork, a consequence of him being part of that 2%, that 2% of metahumans who were natural killers. He felt no remorse when he fought and killed, when he was with the Ancients he could easily blast some streetpunk in the middle of the street then go get a soycaf from a street vendor who'd be too shocked to charge, if he hadn't already run away. Whilst working the shadows, he first came in contact with Aztechnology where he got plenty of work doing extractions and wetwork. It worked out for the better part of a year until he was betrayed, fallout from internal corporate politics. After that he bounced around as a freelancer from there on out until finally working steadily for Ares. The jobs they gave him suited his personality quite well and caused him to increase his reliance on the Drug Jazz even more. He was approaching burn out, he's run on the razor's edge since he broke from the Ancients and hasn't stopped. In regards to being continously in the poo poo, Tony would have been an ultramarathoner by now. Ms. J cut him a break though, one last job and then he could finally cool off before his body or his nerves gave out. Then he could do it all again. Our intelligence indicates that prior to his employment with Ares Macrotech LLC, he was a small time criminal in the Allied German States, working as a deniable asset to sabotage the local Saeder-Krupp arms shipments. His enlistment with the Ares Firewatch selection program came as a result of Saeder-Krupp's response to his somewhat brash actions. Both arms were removed in an unfortunate incident involvng an industrial belt sander, leading to minor psychological trauma. Amusingly, his tendency to swear loudly in german during combat trials lead to his ejection from the training program. Still owing Ares Macrotech in excess of 150,00 nuyen in equipment costs, Talhoffer has been put into service as a Desert Wars candidate. We believe his almost psychotic style of 'In-your-face' combat would compliment the other personalities in our candidate pool, and display the finest in Ares training and cybertechnology. His somewhat frantic personality has a high appeal with our target demographic for reaction enhancing cybertechnology, particularly amongst young males in the 19 - 26 age bracket, many of whom are searching for the next 'Big Thing' in reaction time enhancement technology. His marketing potential for cybertech is high, particularly in showing our new line of integrated smart-weapons, and should he take off, in sports or combat cybertechnology. In spite of these positives, concerns have been raised with regards to Talhoffer's past, in particular his antagonistic nature towards Saeder-Krupp and their employees. Talhoffer shows little remorse when killing opposing forces, simulated or otherwise, and has often gone outside mission parameters to inflict extra casualties upon Shadowrunner teams, criminals, and opposing corporate forces. Despite docked pay and several disciplinary hearings, Talhoffer remains cheerfully adamant that he 'Was only doing his job.' Summary In brief, Talhoffer is a gamble. He could be highly profitable, or he could flop horrendously. We believe the possible profits to be made on ratings, exposure, advertisement, and endorsement outweigh the potential risk of him snapping in a stressful situation. With this in mind, we submit him for consideration for the Desert Wars program. Cpt. John Frazetti Firewatch Team Foxtrot ViscerusIgnea fucked around with this message at 23:46 on Mar 21, 2014 |

Right! Lots of apps! In order to pin it down some more, I've gone through and added a few notes to some apps. Also, this:ARES MEMO. posted:ARES MEMO. bunnielab - Matches, Ork Street Sam Mister, uh, Zuckerman, if you don't mind my saying it looks like Ares has sunk a lot of money into you. And what fine work they've done, too! Are you a real company man, hoping to get a well-paying security gig after the Desert Challenge, or do you plan to continue to compete in the games for years to come? What is your end goal here? InfiniteJesters - Enojado Salvador, Dwarf Street Sam Enojado Salvador(Am I saying that right?), I understand that you got your start as a freedom fighter in your home country of Mexico, and you've killed no less than sixteen Aztechnology employees on your own. Is that number right? And I have here a rumor that I'd like to as you about : is it true that you have struck a contract with Ares to be paid two thousand nuyen for each Aztechnology soldier that you kill during the Desert Challenge? CisMaleTheSensitiv - Mr. White, Elf Street Sam Mister White, is it? While that name's certainly a fake, it seems that you're real enough. If your bio is correct, you're actually a runner here trying to win his way into the Ares upper-echelon, right? I'm sure it's wrapped up in NDAs, but is there anything you'd like to say about your presence in the Desert Challenge? Any shout-outs for runners at home? malikial - Jameson "St. John" Delora, Elf Street Sam Mister Delora, it's come to our attention that you are recently back from an extended hospital stay after a corporate extraction went bad. Without mentioning names, could you describe how your previous experiences with Ares have prepared you for the Desert Challenge? ViscerusIgnea - Franz Talhoffer, Human Street Sam Mister Talhoffer(Is that how you say it?), we've obtained an internal Ares memo that describes you as, and I'm quoting here, 'a gamble'. Do you think that Ares has made the right choice, offering you a spot in the Challenge? Do you have anything to say to any of our viewers at home rooting for the underdog? thelazyblank - Nina Walker, Dwarf Decker Miss Walker, I understand you previously worked cybersecurity for Knight Errant. With the growing section of Matrix warfare incorporated as part of the Desert Challenge, I'm sure you're going to have a chance to really shine in the games. Is it true that you won the Houston-area Renraku Matrix Jam a few years back, beating out some top talent? Who were your top competitors, and how did you bring that prize home for Ares? Schizotek - Birch, Dwarf Rigger Mister Berchtold, I understand you've had several run-ins with Lone Star officers in the past, in both official Knight Errant and unofficial civilian capacities. Is there anyone on Lone Star's Desert Challenge team that you know personally? How do you think you'll try to approach their team in the field? kloaked00 - Mark Izzone, Elf Rigger Mister Izzone, it seems like until now you've worked a fairly cushy office job with AresSpace in drone design and repair. With such an impressive R&D resume, and a lot of lab time, what makes you a suitable candidate for the combat situations you're going to see in the Desert Wars? Do you have any particular experiences that are going to come into play here? AmyL - Caustic Belli, Dwarf Mage Miss Underhilde. It is miss, right? I'm sure all of our viewers are wondering. More importantly, I understand that you used to watch the Aztlan-CSA border doing contract work for Ares, and now you're here playing in the games for them. There are even rumors that you are a card-carrying member of the Stonecutter's Guild. How do you feel your time here is going to affect metahuman relationships? Do you have any advice for any dwarves watching at home? Arkangelus - Darius "Wolf" Jones, Ork Bowfighting Adept Mister Jones! My, that's certainly interesting garb. I understand you used to work for Knight Errant's animal control division. Is it true that you once shut down an entire illegal hellhound fighting ring and cost the Yakuza several million nuyen, and that you got transferred out here as a result? Seven Socks - Dess Ferorvell, Human Corporate Spook Adept Misses Ferorvell, unlike most of the new Ares recruits, it's been difficult to dig much up on you. From what I can tell, you worked 'Information Security' for Ares. Of course, as most of our viewers know, that title means something entirely different out here. So why don't you tell us a little about the extraction incident that took place in Hong Kong last year. This is you in this photo, right? Bouquet - Igider Abrika, Elf Unarmed Combat Adept There needs to be at least twice as much bio here. Mister Abrika, our records indicate that you actually grew up a nomadic traveler in the very desert where the game is taking place. How does someone with almost no formal training end up in the Desert Challenge? Surely that's a great rags-to-riches story for our viewers. Bigass Moth - Karl Bradford, Human Gunslinger Adept I'd really like a little more bio, some character beyond 'worked for Ares, working for Ares'. Mister Bradford, you're a rare breed: my reports indicate that you are actually some kind of adept, but you also have cybernetic implants and upgrades. I understand that these sorts of enhancements can be detrimental to your magical talent. How do you reconcile that risk, and what made you decide to take that leap? QuantumNinja posted:malikial - Jameson "St. John" Delora, Elf Street Sam St. John St. John, an elf with burn scars etched into his neck and another scar down the side of his face, he looks rather intimidating even just in street clothes, a trog rock band t-shirt is tight over an impressive physique and jeans that are tight over powerful legs. He leans back away from the camera and closes his eyes a bit before he answers, his voice is refined and deep, that of an elf, but his facial expressions seem to flutter and his fingers and legs twitch slightly as if he is only moments from a burst of action, "I have spent many years working for Ares in many positions of security. I am a trained weapon honed to an edge, but I also have ability and desire to work with a group. I have been trained in small unit situations and will be capable of taking and giving orders or suggestions in the heat of battle. I do not fret... I do not scare..." He runs his hand along his face, touching the scars on his neck and it seems a ghost of something passes over him as he leans forwards, his off hand suddenly clenching on the chair arm he's seated in hard enough to bend the surface and he growls out, "I do not forgive and I DO NOT forget. The desert challenge is something I want to do because it gives me a chance to act on... previous slights made to my person by certain parties." He makes a cutting motion with his hand as he speaks, his voice deathly quiet, "I will not lose this challenge, as long as I have breath in my lungs and legs to carry me, I WILL NOT EVER FALTER!" His off hand clenches so hard on the chair that the arm of it shatters under his grip and blood begins to drip from the cuts this causes in his hand but he doesn't flinch, doesn't look away he just stares directly at the reporter with his breath coming out in short controlled bursts.

quote:Schizotek - Birch, Dwarf Rigger "First, it's pronounced "Berk-told" not "Birch-told". People call me Birch because it used to get on my nerves so much. And Angie, what makes you think I'd be buddies with one of those overpaid mallcops? Just because we're policing the same city doesn't mean we're working together to do it, see? Half of the time Knight Errant is cleaning up after those rednecks... But now that you mention it, I do have a bit of respect for a rigger I've been forced to work near in the past. Think his name is Wayne, but he's always flying one of those Lockheed X-2s, and we sometimes get parallel air patrol duties on the border of Bellevue and Redmond. So one night, things are quiet, no action going on, and he sends me a comm mocking my Rotodrone, asking how I could possibly keep up with a target in a flying brick. After a little trash talk he offers a short race along the border of the Bellevue wall. Needless to say I beat him, but barely. We had a few more races in the months afterward, and he won couple. But in the last one, about six months ago, I ended up crashing my Rotodrone against the side of an apartment trying to pull a turn without decelerating. Got the dressing down of a lifetime over it. But my CO decided that I'd be better off in an area that has a bit more action. Got to prove myself in a few high profile operations against some ganger scum out on the Tacoma docks, and now I'm lookin to be in the Desert Wars. So it all worked out in the end. But that guy had the right idea with those Lockheeds. I hate to fly anything else. As for how I'll approach their team? Hadn't given it much thought. Of all the corps that we're coming up against, they're really the least of Ares troubles. I mean, they're the bargain option in Seattle for a reason, you get me? But from what I've seen they're all sticklers for procedures and plans. Not an ounce of imagination between their entire corporation. So take advantage of that I guess. But no plan survives contact with the enemy so its all academic right now anyway. Thanks for having me Angie." Schizotek fucked around with this message at 19:43 on Mar 22, 2014 |

QuantumNinja posted:thelazyblank - Nina Walker, Dwarf Decker Nina was standing to the side, with a polite smile on her face. She seemed to be going for a bit of vidstar glamour at the moment, covering up some of her extensive cyberware with a jacket. "It is, Miss Ankh. Winning that Matrix Jam was a combination of skill, focus and not being afraid of what was around the next corner. The field was a little light on people like myself, who face off against the best deckers from the shadows day in and day out. The end of the day, there were four of us that stood above the rest." As if on cue, an infographic popped over the screen, with pictures of the people, names and who they worked for. "As you can see, the other three had quite the pedigrees. Barry "Bam-Bam" Black, the self-proclaimed best ork on a deck on the continent, didn't quite live up to the hype. Oh, he was real good, but I don't think he'd seen what I had in the last few years. He tried to stay on the attack, and it cost him big. Still, with a payday like he got, I could see why he'd be happy with fourth." The infographic puts a red box around an elf with an unpronounceable name. "Next up was Red-E-0. That's what everyone calls her because I'm pretty sure her name's missing about five vowels. She knows what she does, but she's got too much patience. Let me set everything up, just gave me too many opportunities to win. It's all about adaptability." The final picture was a man who seemed at least ninety percent chrome. "And the last one standing was Renraku's ringer. He was listed as Yamada Taro, which if you aren't familiar out there, is like John Smith. Probably some hotshot chromed to the gills, and he kept up with me for a long time. Back and forth for fifteen minutes, probably longer. Time blurs together when you're as focused as I was. That one I won by sheer willpower. Never give up, never surrender. Pretty sure he burned a wire on the way out." The infographic went away, going back to the two women there. "This is the Ares way. It isn't about flash in the pan gimmicks, it's about winning no matter what gets thrown at you."

Mr. White at the Tamanrassat basecamp Mr. White is in the gymnasium working out with a Firewatch soldier he befriended, a Troll by the name of Baptiste. Baptiste is doing pullups on a modified I beam girder mean for structures with a rucksack full of iron weights whilst carrying Mr. White at the same time. Mr. White, legs wrapped around his waist is doing situps off of the Troll. A type of workout only the augmented would even consider viable or fun. As he's finishing up a set his Mirror Shades display the AR Memo in front of him. "Hold up one Big Dog. Got something coming from the top." White says as he reads the memo upside down for a moment before the whole blood rushing to the head bit gives him a quick headache. ARES MEMO. posted:ARES MEMO. Coming back up and grabbing onto the Troll's Body Armor, Mr. Clean takes a moment to breath before telling Baptiste his little scheme. "Yeah looks like they want me to do one of those interviews before the season, like on them simsense reality shows. Tell you what, you think we can convince Top to let us do the interview right here? Yeah, ok we got a few hours till its scheduled lets go hit the firing range and meet back here. Finish the workup then." The interview The Sat Comm relay comes on, one of the riggers with the Firewatch team is on the camera, the rest of them go about their routine, lifting weights, doing pullups, calisthenics, sparring, the works. "Mister White, is it? While that name's certainly a fake, it seems that you're... uh real enough." The corp lady gets distracted from the teleprompter for a moment as she catches the video of the "interviewee". Its the same workout as before but with the camera on this time, Mr. White doing his situps with a Ares Desert Strike cradled on his chest, dressed down only in fatigue pants and boots, and of course those mirror shades. White stops the routine to hang down, Rifle outstretched in his hands. "Oh hello there Ms. Ankh yeah, its me, I'm that guy. Thank you for having me on. If I may take a moment, hey shoutout to Aztechnology, as in gently caress em!" White shouts out while Ms. Ankh, composed, continues on with the script of the interview. "So I've reviewed your bio before we had you come on the air. If your bio is correct, you're actually a runner here trying to win his way into the Ares upper-echelon, right? I'm sure it's wrapped up in NDAs, but is there anything you'd like to say about your presence in the Desert Challenge? Any shout-outs for runners at home?" "Good questions Ms. Ankh, thank you for asking and again thank you for having me on. First off your information is accurate, its all in the Bio. I am, sorry, was a runner, I do contract work for Ares exclusively now. Ares scours the earth for talent and they found that in me. My presence here is proof that hard work and merit can bring you up in this world. I've outperformed the competition inside Ares to earn a place on the team, I've been outperforming the competition all my life since I lived in the Barrens and had to fight just to eat. Only someone like me can show the world that he is the best. I intend to paint my masterpiece on the canvas Ares has given me. I'm gonna wipe the floor with everyone that lands in my sights." White puts his rifle on the ground and hops off the troll, doing a quick handstand before pushing off and landing on his feet. Sweat, scarring from multiple bullet/shrapnel wounds, a full sleeve of a Jaguar in the Jungle on his right arm, and of course that wavy blonde hair all for display on the trid. "I paid my dues before I got here, its called shadowrunning for a reason. That said for any runners watching this, do yourselves a favor. Stick it to the big A and come to the American A. Ares Macrotech if you wanna be all you can be and get paid. We aren't for the faint of heart though. Adios." Mr. White says as he turns his back to the camera, rifle slung behind his neck as he goes to the boxing ring, oblivious to whatever closing remarks Ms. Ankh has for that interview session. "Frau Ankh, you do not seem to have grasped ze meaningk of ze word gamble in mein profile. The camera pans out further, as the young man stands, no longer seeming distracted. The area his reply is being shot from appears to be some sort of warehouse, the harsh bar lighting doing little to illuminate, but managing to highlight every stain and hole in the young man's coat. In the distance, there stands a shiny, chromed mannequin. With a grunt of effort, the man hoists the mannequin over to the camera, and stands it up. "Zis is Jimmy. Jimmy is ze standard model training dummy for Ars-Cybernetica." Franz seems to be somewhat affectionate of the mannequin, placing a hand upon the back of it's head, stroking the non existent hair. "He is reinforced to withstand up to the force expected of an augmented Elf, human, or ork in hand to hand combat." Franz smiles genuinely for the first time, showing several blindingly white teeth. "Say goodbye." A small whirring noise, and the mannequin's head explodes around the metal hands of the young German. "And should I be selected for the program, your viewer's can expect me to do a /lot/ worse to the enemies, and business competitors, of Ares Macrotech LLC. Does zat answer your questions Fraulein?"

Matches sits in the too-small chair, his face an expressionless mask. Not that the amount of scar tissue and hardened plates allow much in the way of subtle expression in any case. But still, he is remarkably composed given the rather pointed argument he just had with some little flunky over weather or not he had to extinguish his cigar before the interview. In the end he put it out but still insisted on keeping it, snubbed out and stinking, still clamped in his jaw. Matches is huge, even for an ork but his huge cyber arms make even his barrel like torso look small by comparison. The arms are a dull gray and covered in gouges, scrapes, and blast marks. Some of the armored plates seem newer, only by virtue of being clean. He didn't really know what to expect, he was just ordered in here to be questioned, assuming it was an other interrogation, the camera drone and reporter surprised him. As he listened to her talk, he began to slowly move forward in his chair, shifting his bulk forward as if he was about to leap up. His jaw ground sidways, slicing the dead cigar in two, the burnt end falling to the floor. But then, just as suddenly he slumped back in his chair, his expression going calm again. "Oh yeah, real company ork here. Ares has really done a lot to me and I mean to pay back their kindness as best I can. " He roots around in his fatigue pants and removes a lighter, striking it and applying the flame to the stump of the cigar still in his mouth. "Yes mam, I very much plan on showing everyone just how much Ares means to me. Can't wait to get out in the field and show them what I can do." "We done here? I gotta go get my kit in order."

He waves a hand to forestall Angie's comment. "No, no, it is true I did not grow up in the wet lands, with a, how do you say, with a silver spoon in my hands and computers in my everything." "But, here is the truth, Miss Ankh." He leans forward, eyes locked on Angie's. "Do you know what the wetlanders do, when they is needing to train a soldier for the desert for something im-por-tant?" He pronounces the last word very carefully, each syllable distinct, then leans back once more. "The sims and chips, they is easy, they is cheap. When it matters a lot, when expensive is not the matter, they is sending their soldiers to the desert with just a knife and telling him, 'If you is still alive in two weeks, you pass the class.'" He laughs hard, slapping his thigh. "It is fifty years that I is living with her, the desert, with just a knife," he pats his chest, setting something swaying beneath his robe. "Somebody in Ares is wise, and he is asking, 'Why is we flying all these fancy white people soldiers to the desert for training and half of them die, when there is alive warriors there already?'" Igider leans forward again, expression fierce and words intense. "This wise man, him I will make proud!" More bio on the way in a bit, just hadn't managed to get back to it yet.

Bio (sorry, I've been pretty busy the last few days). Karl was born and bred in the heartland, Ohio UCAS. Much like Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump, one of his ancestors had fought and died in every major American war, including his father. Not one to buck the trend, Karl signed up for the UCAS Army straight out of high school and served his time, somehow managing to defy the odds and survive multiple tours in the desert. Deciding that perhaps fate had larger plans, he chose not to re-up his contract and instead signed onto Ares' Firewatch team. Karl is a glory-seeker and adrenaline junkie, and is quick to jump into the fight to assist those he respects. These qualities are what drew him to Bear (or Bear to him depending on how you see it). His disdain for Renraku goes back to the Archology shutdown where his older brother worked and was killed by Deus' forces. He also hates the Red Samurai, seeing them as nearly as prissy as those Tir Ghosts. Question: "My magical abilities alone just weren't cutting it in the sandbox, so I wanted to get myself some more useful augments to make sure I got the job done. The visual and audio mods have saved my rear end more than once. Knowing where the enemy is coming from before they make their move is an invaluable ability on the battle field. You never know what you're going to be up against in terms of chemical weapons so I put in an air tank just in case I didn't have access to a gas mask. It also makes life easier in a sandstorm - just turn it on and you don't have to breathe for a few hours. A lot of guys get their arms chopped off and replaced with a robot limb, but I didn't want to go that route - instead I got a reflex enhancer so I can pop my weapon systems more quickly. I may get more enhancements if I ever feel I need them since the ones I have are just so drat useful. The combination of magical powers I figured out through the guidance of Bear and my cybernetic enhancements have allowed me to carve out a successful niche, which is why you brought me here, isn't it?" Arkangelus - Darius "Wolf" Jones, Ork Bowfighting Adept Wolf dwarfs the interviewer sitting across from him and looks noticeably uncomfortable. He looks not unlike a frightened animal, draped as he is in wolf pelts. Angie Ankh: Mister Jones! My, that's certainly interesting garb. I understand you used to work for Knight Errant's animal control division. Is it true that you once shut down an entire illegal hellhound fighting ring and cost the Yakuza several million nuyen, and that you got transferred out here as a result? Wolf looks surprised but then shrugs and responds Wolf:"How did you know about that? I thought it was still classified. Huh, well... I uh don't know if it's fair to say I shut down an entire illegal hellhound fighting ring. We're a team you know? Anyway, yeah we'd been hearing about this ring for a while but couldn't pin them down until we caught a lucky break bringing in some unlicensed veterinarian who tried to buy some good will by pointing us in the direction of the next big fight (ironically I actually felt bad arresting him up until he let slip that he was involved, after that I may or may not have tried to put his face through the cruiser window.) We get there early evening, you know before the "fun" is supposed to kick off and..." He trails off and seems drawn into his own world then suddenly changes the subject. "Have you ever seen a hellhound? Beautiful. They don't smell great but that there is one awesome creature, and I mean awesome in the original sense of the word. You see your gymnastics adepts in your vids and your kung-fu adepts in the movies but you ever seen one of them breath fire? I haven't, none of us can do that. A hellhound can, and they're not gonna need no totem or ritual like your buddy over there in charge of magical security. Seriously, these are intelligent, powerful, majestic creatures..." The ork's voice seems to crescendo here "...and these drekheads are making them fight each-other for their amusement! Disgusting I tell you, deserving of everything we gave them and more." He pauses for a moment and then remembers he's being interviewed and is on camera. "Where was I? Oh the raid. Yeah, so we have Knight Errant Swat teams surround the place and then my team and I blow down the doors and it's just instant chaos. In these kinds of mixed target environments I'm generally primary on the critters and my team handles the handlers but I made sure that a few of those yak punks were sporting feathered accessories just the same, if you catch my drift. Anyway, back to the chaos. They unleash the hounds on us but the morons didn't think about the fact that they've conditioned the hounds to hate each-other. So there are bullets flying, yaks and hounds getting their throats torn out by other hounds, flames and smoke everywhere, and I'm trying to tranq as many of the hounds as I can. That's why I use the bow, more control. If something has to be put down it get's put down, otherwise I try to bring them in alive. Wounded usually, but alive. That's the critters I mean, the yaks and the other competitors get an arrow to a throat." "I think out of 11 hounds on scene we had 3 die in the carnage, 4 were wounded and later died, and 4 wounded and rehabilitated. I think a couple were rehabilitated and moved into security teams for Ares and the other two ended up on a sanctuary outside the city run by some saint. That isn't even the crazy part though, turns out the whole Yakuza operation was just a front for some Mitsuhama op to locate "viable specimens" for some kind of experi..." Midway through the sentence Darius's eyes widen and seem to focus on someone behind the camera. His excitement instantly disappears and his eyes narrow. "It is still classified isn't it. Is this a live broadcast? Great job Darius, real great job..." He jumps up from the chair, knocking it over, and storms off.

Many people don't realize the dangers that are involved in drone design. Yes, the theoretical construction is done using CAD software and the assembly is done in clean rooms, but they have to be tested. Especially when dealing with new models and software, they are extremely prone to malfunctions. Hopefully the malfunction is just a simple navigational bug or failure to achieve lift. In the worst cases, the targeting AI fails to calibrate friend / foe properly, or experimental power sources explode and unleash who knows what kind of radiation and chemicals on us. But even before then, I grew up in the kind of neighborhood that Corporates would never dream of traveling to. The grey market is the only way to survive, and the various races and gangs don't particularly care how they obtain or hold their power, just that they do. For example, the Jacksons keep track of how many of their own they've lost over the last year. Every April 1st, they then draw dominoes and the those who draw doubles are selected to go out and randomly kill people on the street equal to the number of their fallen comrades. So as cliche as it sounds, "I've seen some poo poo".

I'm really, really sorry. I got a ton of amazing applications, and paring it down at all was really rough. I tried to pick people who seemed to fit really well into the Ares soldier theme that I'm trying to play up. But not all is lost: if one of the people I did pick dies, however, the remaining applications get first dibs on joining up. PICKS. RATINGS. For now, I've included a little snippet with each of your characters that is the 'audience reaction' to your interview, along with a Ratings Number. Ratings will work similar to Street Cred, and you'll gain 1 for every 10 Karma and any time you do something particularly television-worthy. Ratings will work as a bonus (not 100% how yet) for getting hold of gear from Ares and love-letters from fans. Just mark it on your sheet for now. This does not reflect my opinion of your application, but how the viewers at home saw you. Those Who Were Picked. Below is who is in. I'll have the thread up in a few hours (when I can get to my desktop). bunnielab - Matches, Ork Street Sam Don't Believe The Lies: 7 CisMaleTheSensitiv - Mr. White, Elf Street Sam He Can Bench *How Much?*: 8.5 ViscerusIgnea - Franz Talhoffer, Human Street Sam Did You See That Robot: 9 thelazyblank - Nina Walker, Dwarf Decker She Beat Who: 7.5 Schizotek - Birch, Dwarf Rigger I Remember The News Story: 7.5 AmyL - Caustic Belli, Dwarf Mage Dwarven Rights Activist Killing Humans: 7 Arkangelus - Darius "Wolf" Jones, Ork Bowfighting Adept Animal Lover In The Desert: 8 Seven Socks - Dess Ferorvell, Human Corporate Spook Adept That Was Well-Rehearsed: 7.5 Bigass Moth - Karl Bradford, Human Gunslinger Adept He Bleeds Ares: 7 QuantumNinja fucked around with this message at 19:11 on Mar 24, 2014 |

Oh lord what should I spend my remaining karma on? What would be a funny knowledge skill to spend my last two points in? Will I ever be able to understand the recoil rules? So many questions. But really, glad to be in, I am on the road with just an iPad so I will try and get my sheet finished and posted tonight.

Couple questions: 1. do we roll for starting nuyen since we didn't buy individual lifestyles? 2. is it ok to post out of turn (not waiting for everyone to have their say) or should we wait for each person to pipe in?
