Some speed runs are kinda cool but then some are really loving bad like when some dude wants to play ff8 or some gay jrpg that takes 120 hours to complete *mashs past text menus nonstop for hours on end*

i have a friend who links me some speedrunning charity drive thing every once in a while and he always acts like its a big event and i dont have the heart to tell him i dont give enough shits about the games i personally play so why would i give a poo poo about watching some unfunny nerds playing a game im not playing

They always try to pick games for it that will "draw in people from outside the community" but it never works because the vast majority of people would rather watch someone play a game the way they know how instead of clipping through walls and tricking the game into loading the credits before you fight the final boss. getting drunk as heck in a hotel for a week is pretty fun though you should try to go to one of the events in person.

oh this is the speedrun thread not the metroid thread. I like to take my time in games but in alien level 2 of AvP there's a time challenge where you have to beat it in under 3 minutes and for some reason even after I unlocked the achievement or whatever I kept trying it until I could do it in 1:39. that's my only speedrun story and those are my only two gaming accomplishments ever

that kid was probably one of the worst people at the event. He played OoT with his feet and would inject that fact into conversations constantly to try to become relevant. fucker put his stanky rear end feet all over someone's n64 controller.

i can't imagine getting in to the 'speedrunning community' now because 1) all the good games are taken by people way more experienced and better than you and 2) spending the amount of time to learn a bad / obscure game seems like a waste of time
