Whole lotta shows either coming back or premiering in the next several weeks. Dominion (Series premiere on June 19th on Syfy) Defiance (Season premiere on June 19th on Syfy) Falling Skies (Season premiere on June 22nd on TNT) The Last Ship (Series Premiere on June 22nd on TNT) Tyrant (Series premiere on June 24th on FX) The Leftovers (Series premiere on June 29th on HBO) The Strain (Series premiere on July 18th on FX) EDIT: Yep, had totally forgotten about that. Thanks for the reminder, hollylolly. Gonz fucked around with this message at 21:10 on Jun 16, 2014 |

Dominion debuted last night on Syfy, and it certainly got away with a lot of bare rear end male and female nudity on a basic cable station. Also sideboob. I can't recall any nudity on Syfy in the past. The pilot wasn't entirely awful, either (although there were a LOT of blahhhhhhhh scenes and plot devices, and some of the dialogue is cringeworthy); the setting is a futuristic SPQR-style society in the ruins of Las Vegas governed by Rupert Giles with an American accent, and allied with the Archangel Michael, who lives atop Caesar's Palace and has orgies. I'll give it a few episodes and see if it's worth watching the whole season. EDIT: Oh, and there was a suicide bomber angel. Go figure. Gonz fucked around with this message at 09:49 on Jun 20, 2014 |

Holy balls. Congratulations, you son of a bitch! Question (answer if possible): who did you use as your phone-a-friend? Does that show even have a phone lifeline anymore?

I just got around to watching the series premiere of The Strain. That was pretty drat violent and visceral for basic cable; I dig the vampire physiology on the show, too.

Is there enough interest in FX's The Bridge and Showtime's Ray Donovan to warrant the creation of show threads?

(A quick CTRL-F on this page reveals that I may have come at a bad time...) There's literally no explanation as to where the people disappeared to and why. It's mostly a charater piece. But it's been getting very interesting as of late. Last night's episode was pretty drat good.

I enjoyed the goofy premise of The Cape. Summer Glau is the kiss of death to any television show. Do not allow her to be a co-star and/or a recurring character on your show no matter what, unless you enjoy cancellations.

ninjahedgehog posted:As someone with only a passing familiarity with the show, can someone explain why this is a boneheaded thing to do? I love dumb game show bets and I want in on this one. You want to get closest to the retail price without going over. If the price of the item is 800 dollars, and someone bids 750 bucks, you have guaranteed yourself a loss if you bet 749 bucks. The odds of you being correct are not good at all. Which is why in those situations, people always bid a dollar more to shut that person out.

If they REALLY wanted to throw their viewers for a huge loop, they could have had them meet in an unspecified warzone after committing various atrocities that violate the Geneva Convention. The two of them turning out to be heinous war criminals would have pissed everybody off and would've been talked about for years to come.

Annakie posted:Also watch the newest season of 24 when you can get your hands on it because it is really great. I, also, cannot even begin to specifically stress how true this is. It was one of the best seasons ever. The truncated format of 12 hours cut down on a lot of fat and ridiculous B and C-plots that the prior format suffered from.

Party Plane Jones posted:The Bridge continues being amazing and gets absolutely no fanfare. It's definitely the best unwatched show on television. This. Diane Kruger has been really good this season, as have Demián Bichir and Matthew Lillard. And Franka Potente is a convincing psychopath. The Bridge and Ray Donovan get hardly any love on this subforum.

A whole hell of a lot better. It focuses much more on Mexican police corruption with regards to Fausto Galvan's cartel, and there are a lot of interesting plot developments and deaths.
