Yeah if he sticks with the Thomas group when Pinot attacks he probably preserves his lead, maybe even extends it if he has legs for a kick at the finish.

Imagine if Froome was the Ineos leader instead of Thomas, we'd all be sitting here looking at the next week waiting for him to crack everyone else. Now there's like 6 riders who could all win or crack on any given day, it's a bloodbath.

if Ineos had the form they did last year Thomas would already be in a prime position after smashing everyone in the ITT. Instead he barely put a minute into Emanuel Buchmann.

I'd like to believe that it's other teams catching up to Ineos' level of training etc. No idea if that's actually the case though, maybe Ineos are having an bad year (as well as not having Froome).

If it is correct though it would mean we'd be getting more exciting TdF's generally

If Froome was there Ineos would have had Thomas and Bernal ride for him, so yeah they'd be ripping the race to pieces as normal. As it is, Ineos clearly like Bernal more than Thomas but they have to pay lip service to him as the defending champion.

The fact that we're going into week 3 of a Tour de France without a clear idea of who is actually gonna win this thing is freaking awesome. Yeah it'll probably be a Skyneos rider in the end, but the fact that they didn't wrestle control of yellow stages ago gives me a glimmer of hope still.

He got ill. He also gave an interview quite similar to Rohan Dennis saying the team is ineptly managed and are idiots for ordering him to ride for GC after doing the Giro.
