I've heard Alienware hardware is overpriced junk, but it's the cheapest Steambox and I figure getting one of them will be better then the link since I can only ever afford computers around that price anyway so I'm not exactly armed with a lot of horsepower sticking to my laptop. How should I proceed here?

I don't.

It'd be cool if the controller works just for the PC. Then I might just get it, because while TV gaming is nice and that'd be pretty awesome, all games forever being controller compatible is way cooler.

Also, a friend convinced me to get the Alienware one because they assured me their stuff is top notch. It kind of looks cool, too. I like the red and black colors, and the little alien symbol.

Has anyone found any good visual novels on Steam? They mostly seem to be :nws: and have terrible art. When/why did Steam start allowing them on?

I guess that makes it kind of better, but they still advertise as having nudity in them so not by much.

I've been having a lot of fun with Transistor but the bosses are hard as hell. The first one was so hard to dodge, it was basically luck I killed it before I ran out of attacks. I'm on the lead up to the second one(I'm assuming) and it keeps hitting me with it's loving foot/claw/whatever and I go down so fast. Aghhhh. I want to get to the end of this game so bad.

HM1 was hard but it was fair for the most part. I hate difficult games, but the fact that death was a slap on the wrist and the fast-paced gameplay made me love 1. 2, on the other hand, is a humongous slog because the levels are way too big and the FOV is way too zoomed in so enemies can just cheapshot off you screen and that's going to happen a lot because they are a lot of gunmen so you got to take it really slow and scout ahead all the time. So the only way to do anything is hope that you can grab a gun and funnel enemies through doorways.

It's not a good game.

I still haven't actually got the money to spend, but this post makes me happier with my decision to get Strider instead.

I was thinking about getting Blade Kitten, but it just looks so unfun. It reminds me of the video game version of a Tokyopop OEL manga. HLM2 is pretty fun. It plays a little differently than HLM1, though--there's a lot more gunplay and more open areas, which I suppose is what a lot of people have a problem with. But it looks great, sounds great, and the whole switching characters thing changes up the formula in interesting ways.

My main problem is how it massively restricts your abilities a lot. The gunning is a part of that, because the game makes you use them so much it's to the point that, as someone else said, it's more like a normal shoot'em up.
