So I've really been enjoying this as a read and I think the goreporn is fitting for the setting? I can understand people not wanting to read it (say at work), or ignore etc.. but really we've been doing full processing since the start, which is at least as disturbing as the chaos-art-spoilermurder, and the only change is that it was now written more vividly than Lowell does it so people realized what was happening and freaked out?

Idk, it's fine eitherway. Chaos-art-spoilermurderers simply exist in this setting - I'm ok either with it being written in the thread or being glossed over so as to keep up decent readership for the thread and not sabotaging Lowell's book when someone discovers the thread.

Can't win 'em all, genies don't like going back into bottles. Guess you've just gotta be firmer on tone and where to draw the line because 40k is already super hosed up and it's up to you to decide how to present that for your audience.

Like what Sandy Mitchell does for Ciaphas Cain.

Golgotha

He had done it! By the Dark Gods, he had done it!

An’ggrath’s plan was pure genius. By deploying the troops with large gaps in the lines, the xenos had rushed to fill the vacuum - and Kharn and Angron had gone to meet them. Those two couldn’t be given orders, but by creating pockets of intense battle, they could be directed like magnets. And this meant that a large part of the front was being covered by those two supreme warriors, leaving Abaddon with a surplus of troops to reach for the STC.

And by the Corpse-Emperor he needed them. He had never seen combat like this, even in the bad old days of the Siege of Terra. The enemy numbers were virtually infinite, and they lacked even the faintest human ability to feel fear. They ran into combat with glee, dying in their millions, and his troops had long ago ran out of conventional ammo. It was all summoned daemons and warp-powered weapons, now.

The Obliterators were the main focus points of his defence lines. They were great machines, organic warptek merged in the most hideous of blasphemies, and their massive cannons never ran out of ammo. Their shells shrieked as they were brought into existence, made out of warp-stuff, and shrieked even more as they impacted the enemy.

He had created a perimeter around the stasis field, a small place for his most genius scientists to work their way into a breach. And now, it was a race. Would the xenos break through his lines, reach the core of his troops? Or would he gain access to the STC, and the unimaginable weapons within? Abaddon smiled faintly. As a final gamble went, this one was pretty good.

Plans

You met the Farseer’s eyes. “I can’t order you to follow any plan of ours, but it would be easier if we coordinated our assaults. The Imperial Fists are staying in reserve on Terra, but we intend to commit everything else. My ship is en route to the Belt at top speed, and Titan is already using surgical strikes. I propose advancing your forces into the battle.”

Galahad scoffed. “Sounds like a way to spend Eldar lives as your skirmishers. We will wait for you to arrive here before we commit.”
You growled in frustration. “That’s nearly a month. The Belt could have fallen by then. Can you commit anything?

Kaydras looked off-sceen for a moment, nodded. “The Corsairs accept this task, and will launch their attack immediately.”
You breathed out slowly. “Thank you. You are saving a lot of lives doing this.”
He met your gaze. “No Imperial forces in the Belt will survive this battle.”

-

His voice was a breathless and unceasing murmur. “Holy God-Emperor have mercy on us in our time of need…”
He had always pictured needing to be quiet, stealthy in combat - but the noise and light here was ludicrously overwhelming. Most people on Hygeia were already dead, but there were a small minority of miners - or those who could find them - who had survived.

Welding goggles. He had never expected that to be the thing that had saved them.

The stupendous amount of lights and sound were easily enough to dazzle all who saw them - causing the animal instinct to rise to the forefront, to curl up in a ball, or freeze, or stare at the lights even as they were cut down. The sound - if a hurricane had decided to design a symphony - caused similar effects, and it was only by luck that the miners and ore-processors in the depth of the asteroid had survived.

Welding goggles for sight. Stuffed wax for sound. Simple fixes, used for the mines. Respirators to prevent black lung. All minor things, but suddenly they were the most valuable objects on Hygeia. When you had them, you could survive the initial impact of the noise grenades, the flash bangs, the walking speakers and amplifiers.

Not that you were guaranteed survival much longer than that. The invaders moved like liquid, like the martial arts he had seen on the holovid. Simple perfection, an effortless style that cut down all before them. The miners were doing what they could, armed with plasma cutters and jackhammers, but they were outnumbered, and outgunned.

“Have mercy on us....”

Team Mars Fed + Catgirl + Riccola are essentially the same I think, various do-good, support harmony etc etc

Team Paranoia, Dynasty, Black crusade, Magos are the opposite. Power at any cost, trust no one, crush all who oppose us.

Each team is a specific flavor. Magos loves Athena, but Paranoia distrusts everything.

At least that's my view. I thing Loel looks at the player spread to get a mashup of Ohone's feelings . More players means that part of her brain is screaming louder than the others.

The Belt

Huron Blackheart was probably one of the premier fleet commanders in the galaxy, having spent centuries operating raids in one of the most dangerous places known to Humanity. The Eldar, meanwhile, were ancient, with incomprehensible technologies powering their elegant ships. They darted like fish in the sea, and had a flexibility like none other he had ever faced.

The combat itself would be the template for Naval battles for centuries to come. It was months of cunning, lures and feints, traps and sudden ambushes. Both forces were the elite raiders of their species, with lifetimes of experience, and their technology was beyond any that was common to the Imperial Navy.

The mass drivers firing from elsewhere in the system seemed clumsy in comparison, a giant batting at the birds swarming around him. They were moving at dozens of kilometers per second, and the ships danced around them, using them as cover, leading each other into unexpected impacts. For all their numbers, the two forces were killing each other only rarely.

The ground forces - Chaos Space Marines and cultists - still pushed their way into the asteroid fortresses. However, they now lacked the air support that they had had prior, and such delays were slowing them down marginally. Here and there, small pockets of resistance were holding out, even managing to cause casualties to their attackers.

Huron smiled, relaxed. He was having a good time.

Nope! I mean, I guess on some level I'm aware that the OP is trying to turn this into non-interactive fiction after the fact. The protagonist swapping preteen power fantasy for hahalol monkeycheese in the 11th hour would be weird and might give him that much more work in rewriting, but it's not my baby.

The Belt

Your ship the Beast was one of the largest mobile ships in the Imperium - but it was dwarfed by the sheer scale of the Craftworlds. No, dwarfed implies only a slight variation - these three ships were colossal. You had docked with smaller moons, with lower population. Each of them measured in the hundreds of kilometers, perhaps thousands.

They were surrounded by dozens, hundreds of vessels nearly your own size. And like you, those vessels came with their own fighters, bombers, shuttles, and escourts, each flying about in a swarm. Your cogitators were nearly overwhelmed trying to keep track of them all, and the ding of ‘Warning: Xeno Approaching’ was continuous.

Any of the Craftworlds could have held your ship in one of the many docking bays and not even noticed - there was room for a dozen or more ships your size in any one of the many vaults. You felt tension rising in your back, seeing the full might of the Eldar species in front of you, outside Mars. If they choose to switch sides, attack humanity, there was little you could do about it. Your ship, for all its power, was a tiny thing in comparison.

Hidden in the strange folds of the Craftworlds, the wraithbone vault that had arrived out of the warp. It was one of the smaller ships in the area, but it was the one you were interested in most. Psyker energy emanated from it in waves, and magnification showed countless Krieg souls on the battlements. Fabiyan had worked hard, in coordination with the Grey Knights, and the vault of Agatha’s World was fast becoming the resting place of all Krieg.

Your hand reached for the screen almost unconsciously. He was so close, only a handful of kilometers…
