I beat monument valley 2. While it was very impressive with its set pieces, clever level design, and mood...it was way too easy this time. It was more of a walking simulator than a puzzle game. If you liked the first, go ahead and get it for $5. Otherwise wait for the inevitable GOTY or Editors choice sales.

Grabbed the new OS update. The new App Store is weird but better. They finally put a drat “games” tab right on the bottom navigation bar to get there quicker.

If anybody is interested in a new gacha game with good strategy and depth, now is a great time to roll a new account (and re-roll, and re-roll..) for Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Currently on banner is the best White Mage in the game, Ayaka, and she will not be challenged for at least 7 months or so. The sequel to Alto’s Adventure is out today, this time with a desert theme and the same gameplay. I haven’t played it enough to form a full opinion, but if you liked the first game, you’ll like this too and it’s worth the four bucks. Everything so far seems to point to same game, new coat of paint. For me, I don’t mind, as I really get into games with good well done art/ambience/sound/etc, and to me that’s worth the four bucks. But I can completely understand giving it a pass if you’re looking for something better.

The wing suit is pretty cool but nothing amazing. The unlockable characters each control a bit differently, some are faster but can’t spin as fast, some can spin fast but are slower. The higher tier of unlockable characters combine both and make the game easier to play. One adds a double jump feature which can be a blessing and a curse in some ways. Alto’s not groundbreaking, just highly polished, and I can appreciate that.

The wingsuit is really designed to link combos together, do a bunch of crazy flips and poo poo and before you hit the ground, turn on the wingsuit to fly you to the next area to do more tricks to keep it going. When you finally do land you should have enough points to fill the suit meter back up to full and then wash rinse repeat. You can also use the wingsuit to aid in a lot of the harder missions as you get higher in level. Lastly, it can save your rear end at the last second if you gently caress up a flip and are gonna crash.
