Baronash: Feb 29, 2012; So what do you want to be called?

I'm currently in school, but am looking at taking a few semesters off to move to the Western/Southwestern United States and work at a guest ranch. These ranches usually provide housing and food during the season. Problem is, even the ranches that stay open in both the summer and winter generally close for about a month or so in both the spring and fall. I'm looking for some kind of temporary accommodation that I use during these off periods. Extended stay hotels seem like an option, but from a cursory look they seem to be fairly pricey. Is there a better solution, or is that about it?

Look on Craigslist and pick up a room for rent, or an entire place under the vacation rentals.
