If I were a better writer, I could seriously get in on this. Scp-1282 is what came out when I clicked on random. And christ, if there was an ethics committee, they would be all over this. No attempts at any real experiments, and some idiot says "I wonder if they'd kill their buddy?" No to mention testing it by 'allowing them to become mating partners' is just creepy. This boring SCP would actually be totally more interesting as a look into the clearly deranged and uneducated researcher. Actually, it would be a better SCP for practically any reason, but yeah.

In the no-SCP world where this is just an Asylum, I assume this is the file for grown up Lenny.
The really annoying thing about those tests is that they've obviously just been thrown in because "you gotta have tests!". Without the tests it's a great little article about reverse were-rabbits

That is what that SCP is. It doesn't understand pictograms so it doesn't recognize them as information about itself, but everything else (written documentation, D-Class who talk about it etc) get whisked away to ???

The pictogram one is good, but the comments are hilarious. Someone wrote it as part of a "write an SCP in 500 words or less" competition and the comments are full of people angry at the author for "cheating".

I can definitely see not liking 231, and the earlier version definitely played the "rape as horror" card too cheaply, but I get kind of annoyed when I see "Clef just wrote it as porn." One, that's a lot to read into it from a single sentence in the article. Two, that's a pretty horrible thing to accuse someone of from no real evidence.

You want to know why it went unchanged for so long? Because the people who complained about it kept accusing Clef of being a pedophile. Not, "this is a cheap, lovely use of rape," but "You must have written it one-handed." And "Oh, of course you're a pedophile, you're a loving Asian anime nerd." He knew that wasn't actually the case, so 1) he didn't really take it seriously as criticism, and 2) it pissed him off and made him want to keep it as is out of spite. When I actually explained to him why it was lovely to rape for cheap horror, he understood and took out the line in question. I mean, it's fine not to like the article. If you think it's still too gratuitous, or it's heavy-handed, that's fine. But accusing Clef of being a kid fucker is pretty lovely.
Saying something is bad but it got left around because the author dug his heels in because people were complaining about the wrong parts doesn't really explain why it's still there now.

e: "it" being the article

It's a stupid piece of old kruft from a bygone era that needs to be culled heavily. But never will be because TRADITION. The given argument as to why it needs to stay (ala Abel's "No we need a circle jerk anime fight man article to keep away the other circle jerk anime fight man articles" is that it's to show why the foundation doesn't try to destroy SCPs with other SCPs. This is well communicated to new users by having one of the highest voted entries being several pages of the foundation trying to destroy an SCP using other SCPs. Anything that might actually work won't be in there or will have a ridiculously convoluted explanation as to why it won't work because it would interrupt the circlejerk go against the purpose of the entry.

"Here's why we don't decommission things" is done a lot better here (excluding the last note going overboard driving the point home).
