don't worry guys uber will just make the drivers pay for the check and they'll just keep it on file without really looking at it. if there are problems the free market will sort them out

what if I told you you could get on a google bus, it picks you up near your home, it'll take you near your workplace, it only costs a few dollars per ride, you don't have to plan too far in advance, AND you don't have to work at google to do it? It's called a bus, and it pisses google off to no end.

I know the perfect guy to post in this thread. - works for a startup doing something nobody knows. talks about startup culture and drinking beers at work. - makes a little more than the average person (about 50-60), talks about how baller and rich he is: "do you like this coffee table it cost $3000 but I can afford it) - bought a 2br condo, but they paid extra so they wouldn't have to be near other people who had 2br places "because I don't want to be with the poor people". his parents paid for the down payment. - lives paycheque to paycheque. would rather spend the few hundred dollars extra every month rather than paying off student loan debt. min pays credit cards. - leases a tesla. the 65. only has a new driver permit, the kind you get when you are 17. he's almost 30. time to apply the uber formula to other industries: - a body that oversees but does not have significant political power - has major barriers to entry. - cost to those using said service is high because of the intentionally limited supply - uses an app - requires the "contractors" to be smug So uber but for legal advice. - no law school education needed - set rate legal advice ($25 per hour, of which 30% goes to uber but for lawyers) - is not bound by the law society or the bar, because they are not a law firm but a technology company - uses an app so people can just tap on their location, and an uber lawyer (but they're not lawyers, since it's a technology company) will spend their own money to drive their car to the client. First one there gets to provide legal advice, the rest get nothing. where do I sign to get my 50 billion dollars

the talent deficit posted:are you? canada, british columbia in particular, has a very strong anti-assimilation culture. i live in richmond, bc which is where the pre-china handover hong kong diaspora (so 20+ years ago at this point) settled and many of my neighbors speak literally zero english. they don't have to. it's perfectly possible to spend months in richmond without ever needing to speak english. almost every store and government service is available in cantonese. if you speak mandarin you've got burnaby and coquitlam. filipinos have the kingsway corridor in east van. the indian subcontinent has the largest city in british columbia -- surrey. it's not just asian either. there are italians who have lived in east van and north burnaby since the 30s who still speak no english. canada isn't the usa, speaking english or adopting north american culture is completely optional when is the last time you actually went to richmond because it hasn't been the territory of hongers for almost a decade. It's all mainlanders with x5's and ferraris these days.
