You know what game didn't have a treasure hunt? That's right, it's right in the op: Super Metroid

that's because the entire game is a treasure from beginning to end

No arguments there. Super Metroid is the most well designed game of all time.

Although I did play a rom hack that added artifacts and it was fun.

I think a hack that did the opposite for prime would be neat. Make it super style where you need to kill certain major bosses to open the final area

Chucat
Apr 14, 2006

That wouldn't really fit in with the story though (because one of the three major bosses is a Space Pirate) unless you just have a Chozo Ghost sitting there going "I'm not letting you past until you blow up the mines also filter my Ruin Water and clear the debris out of Phendrana."

In Training

Hm. Well it could be like super where it's just a big pillar that crumbles when the big guys die, and then you try to go in and it's all red phazon and a note pops up saying "space pirate tech located" and then you go after the omega pirate.

finding the relics is really the worst part of prime unless you had collected them when you were in the area

I really like the one where you shoot the super missile out the tiny window but that's about it

hubris.height
Jan 6, 2005

Pork Pro
yeah you are right, the window one was kind of cool, but the 'random pillar in a fire cave that can be blown away' that i noticed just because i happened to be playing with the x ray kinda pissed me off enough to make all relics upset me

except the ice hands statue because that one was so obvious and when i got to it it was cool and i remembered to come back to it.

Evil Eagle

did you guys not read the artifact hints? prime has one for every artifact and echoes has two for every single sky temple key.

hubris.height
Jan 6, 2005

Pork Pro
yes i did but it didn't make it an any better or more fun thing

i just ended up looking them all that i missed up online, mapping out the shortest route through to get them all, and calling it a day

if you're going for 100% completion in the primes the artifact hunts aren't too bad b/c you can do them when you're mopping up the last few upgrades in each area
