I was wrong. Not unhappily so. I think I want England to do well here. As a neutral I’m rooting for the underdog.

Our review identified changes needed to be made and, in Stephen, we have a coach who has a reputation for demanding the highest standards.

He just aint it as a T20 bowler, at least not yet. Hoping he doesn't get the yips across all the upcoming T20 international and IPL stuff we need him firing for the tests later.

He just totally wasted a review though. The vat was miles from the ball.

Pant: better than Gilchrist?

I thought he was basically going for a two for one, it might be caught, it might be leg before.

Yeah, class.

This morning I was able to watch a few overs with my son and explain the game to him a bit. It's the first time it's really been possible now that it's on free TV. He got to see Pant hitting some outrageous boundaries.

Yeah, it's been so good having it free to air. The commentators haven't been the best, but most of the bad stuff has been the low grade jingoism you get from any coverage of British sport.

It was interesting to see how one strong partnership completely transformed the innings. At one point I thought India would be lucky to be level and then an hour later I’m thinking they might only need to bat once.

Also sort of weird to select Bess and then give him such a short leash. I guess he was serving one up per over but I saw the stats and Root’s numbers against Pant and Sundar weren’t much better.

Bess was bowling worse than root. There was a hit me ball every over and very little threat

The answer is, mate, because I want to do you slowly. There has to be a bit of sport in this for all of us. In the psychological battle stakes, we are stripped down and ready to go. I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.

365 would have comfortably been innings wins in the last 2 Tests against England... Although 365 is actually India's top innings score this series to be fair.

I could just about live without hearing KP climaxing every time an England batsman got out to spin from where I live, or Michael Vaughan saying yet again that England should be playing their best team regardless of the pandemic or world t20 but won't actually say what he think's England's best team is
