Wait, seriously? Saul mentions the dude way back when in BB?

:allears:

Also, is BCS being written by the same BB team of writers? I know virtually everyone else is back (Peter Gould, Michelle Mclaren, even for one ep, Kelly Dixon, Dave Porter, etc...) but I would hope that those fantastic writers are all given another chance to hang out in the BB universe again. After all, it is what it is because of them.

I think it would have been neat for the vacuum guy at the end of BB to actually have brought Saul somewhere else entirely, which could be an entirely new story and season, and poo poo goes south, so he calls for a similar disappearance guy to actually then make him a cinnebon manager.

What I'm saying is what if the black and white part wasn't directly after BB, but rather after something else, which was directly after BB? It'd be a neat way to extend the show.

I wonder if eventually, someone's going to give Mike poo poo, more poo poo than Saul/Jimmy has... like, someone might get violent, and Mike's gonna take care of them. Saul/Jimmy will see this, and perhaps look at him in a different light, and maybe that's how they start working together.

That's only half of it. There is an interesting/insane theory that Walt adopts traits of people he killed or admires, like Gale made him a coffee snob when he wasn't before, Mike made him drink whiskey differently, Gus gave Walt some stupid towel-folding ritual, and Crazy 8 made Walt cut the crust off sandwiches. Walt speaking in Mike's voice fueled that fire at exactly the right time.

TO BE FAIR (and please believe that I'm not one of those people who are insane and that way over-analyze shows), I do think, perhaps, Gilligan and the writers purposely stuck in little things along the way each and every time Walt killed (or ordered killed) anyone of significance. It's neat to see those traits or actions through Walt after he's survived someone who had those traits. But no, in no way, shape, or form do I think for a second that it's anything more than a wink to the audience.

EDIT: Hahaha, this is great. So, I'm listening to the podcast for episode 102, and they're talking about how originally, the audience was meant to hear the dialogue between Saul and that woman in the bar. Well, the conversation they're having, which was actually scripted, was about what they used to like to drink when they were kids. One of them (can't remember who), said that they liked to drink chocolate milk. One of the reasons Vince cut that to music (and breadsticks sfx) only is because he didn't want people taking too much away from the conversation, focusing on 'chocolate milk', thinking that it'd be important later on.

He must have read the BB threads here.

When he hit on UNM, he had given up on an actual news camera, and realized that any camera, in combination with a 911 call would do. That's why he paid the kids, under the pretense he was going to record a package to send out as a release - it didn't actually matter, so long as somebody was taping who didn't know him and could sell video to the real newscasts.

But yeah, before coming up with that take, he was just calling every reporter in town in hopes that one would be on hand for his big stunt. He's good, but his plan wasn't perfect.

Oh, hmm.. I actually figured that he had the con planned out well in advance, and that he finally had to resort to amateur video. I mean, he puts up the ripoff billboard knowing that it'll get taken down, and then he'll have his hero moment during the takedown. ABQ news would be the best people to have caught that originally, but UNM isn't the worst option either.

It's funny, my wife was watching it, and said 'this is bugging me, he's smarter than this' during the montage of him calling places. Turns out she was very right.

One thing BB always made clear is that Saul is a fantastic lawyer with a deep, abiding respect for the law (especially the process of law). He just recognizes that there isn't a real clear connection between what is right and what is legally possible. As a lawyer, he is unconcerned with the former and feels it is his duty to actualize the latter. As a scammer, he has a complicated relationship with the former and loves working the angles on the latter.

Yeah, I agree with this. In the BB desert hostage scene, Saul pretty much admits that he'll keep all of their criminal poo poo secret as long as they make it official by giving him a dollar each. I always liked that; no one is around to see or prove otherwise, but to Saul, you still gotta play by the rules, even if it's nothing more than a token gesture.
