Cook Out has really good fast food burgers if youre lucky enough to have one in your area (southeast region). I prefer them to Five Guys even and theyre way cheaper. Cheddar style is where it's at. At the end of the day though it's fast food though so not very photogenic and very unhealthy...

I cook a pretty good one myself when i am not being lazy as poo poo. Ground sirloin + ground chuck or sometimes round is the ticket. The best burger ive ever had is not available at any chains though (available at Bocado in Atlanta):

The simpler the burger, the better it is generally. No need to pile on a bunch of lovely toppings. Just eat a salad if you want that stuff imo.

Not sure what's up with the bun, looks like a toasted onion bun or something. It's from Culvers, a Wisconsin/Midwestern chain. Their thing is they put a slap of butter on every burger patty when they fry it, and the patties are fried properly with a good brown crust. They also have custard ice cream and fried walleye and specials that change constantly.

should have gone to Culver's tonight, went to The Flying Hound, a newer "pub" in the Madison area and the Flying Hound Burger was not very good for $12, their fries are pretty good though. I ordered a Wychwood Hobgoblin and they served it in this fuckin thing so I was scared to order any more beer after that

Well meatloaf is a bit unfair. Some chopped up bacon and perhaps diced onions with an egg to keep it from breaking apart is hardly turning the patty into a meatloaf.

I'm not a fascist. I'm a priest. Fascists dress up in black and tell people what to do.
There's a burger place in a converted trailer pretty close to me, just a mile or so (that's close out here) that has pretty good burgers. There's another about 3km the other direction that had equally good burgers and the best fries ever, but since an owner change I thought the portion sizes smaller while the price remained the same.

That's just never going to fly, if it happens just once that someone even thinks they get a smaller portion than last time and they won't be back again for a good long while.

I used to be a die hard Five Guys fan, but whoever owns the Socal franchises in my area realized they could bump up profits by jacking the price of the burgers up by at least a dollar.

A little cheeseburger (the 1 patty kind) is $4.50 at 5 Guys. For about $5 you can get 2 cheeseburgers at In-N-Out. I used to think that Five Guys were going to win the CA burger war until the prices at Five Guys skyrocketed. Now I refuse to go back there to eat, mostly out of spite and also crushing poverty.

In Gainesville theres a place called Square1 and they have specialty burgers. I had buffalo, kobe, and lamb and they were all awesome. Bit pricy at about 14 bucks with fries but its a restaurant and the buns were butter coated and each burger had a ton of quality fixins.

Apparently they're all over Florida and got voted "Best burgers in Florida" multiple times. A bold claim but pretty justified given my 3 trips there.
