Our new double glazing upstairs is jammed so now we can't even open a window. Going to be a fun night (current temperature upstairs is 32).

A few hours ago a friend suggested I wet a t-shirt and put that on to cool down. It was bone dry after thirty minutes but doing that and sitting near a fan worked a treat. Feel a little bit chilly and its 29 here.

Note: Used room temp water. Going from very hot to sudden cold with a shirt soaked in ice cold water is likely to be a terrible idea.

We're lucky as our downstairs has a combined living/dining room that runs the entire length of the house, so once the sun sets we can open windows at both ends and create a nice airflow. It's down to 21C now.

Sadly upstairs only the lovely little vent light windows open and the attic is heavily insulated. I'm considering how comfortable sleeping outside on a sun lounger might be.

The problem with this house is that it stays cool up to a point and then when the heat builds up it stays up.

Yesterday Northern Ireland hit its highest temperature since records began, in some place called Ballywatticock.

I think I've a case of watticock right now after being out walking most of the day.

Thinking of going to the local hospital and telling them as they don't need to treat covid anymore that they don't need any pay rise.
And to get back to proper work.

I read one of those 6 1/2 Things You’re Not Doing Right In This Heat (That You Should Be) things by chance yesterday that suggested - for a comfortable nights sleep - putting your duvet in the freezer and taking it out before you go to bed. It helpfully had a photo of someone who looked like they were just about to do that, but hadn’t yet done it of course because who the gently caress has a freezer big enough to put a duvet in?

Might try your t-shirt suggestion though, thx.

We have a chest freezer that could probably fit a duvet if it wasn't full of, you know, frozen stuff
