Each province produces a certain amount of capitalist, labor and clergy mana each month. When their respective bars are filled you can spend it on new factories, upgrading infrastructure, boosting RGOs, increasing literacy, etc

What's on your mind, Axa?
Assuming it is Rome 2 I doubt very much that it'll go to 769 because, well, that's probably out of the timeline but also because I suspect they don't want to touch the rise of Islam with a 10ft stick, so you know what I'd dig? A converter that simulates poo poo when there's a gap between the save and the start of the next game. However, I suspect that that'd be... a huge pain in the rear end to create, much less update.

It's bad enough when there's no gap at all, or when the converter just pretends those 15 years don't exist.

Though HoI4 to Stellaris does some simulation stuff or something. I'll have to look at the code at some point to see what it's doing.

I doubt Rome 2 would go beyond the fall of the western empire.

Tbh having late antiquity would be the only way I’d play Rome 2. It’s such an interesting period of history and I knew nothing about it until fairly recently. Most Euro history I took went from Odoacer straight to Charlemagne

A Rome game that goes to the dark ages would be an interesting coincidence what with Jon Shafer joining Pdox last year to work on an unnamed game before leaving to go back to his own stalled post-Rome game.

That'd be one of the big issues, yeah. There's a touch of the simulationist in me, I think, the idea of creating something, stepping back and watching it splinter, then going back in and picking up the pieces intrigues me. Being able to create alternate histories, especially if it's just like that, would be amazing to me.

...Maybe that's what I want; alternate history generators for Paradox games.

Anyway, Gnostic Egypts are unusually sturdy, they'll be fine.

This is really weird and boring, but I also get a kick out of watching systems chug along and fall apart, and for a while I got a kick out of running Darkest Hour in spectator mode (pick an out of the way country like Cuba, toggle nofog and handsoff in the console and just let it run) and just re-running the WWI scenario on my second monitor at max speed while zoomed in to western Europe.

You get a surprisingly wide variety of outcomes like that. The central powers definitely have an edge, but if the chips fall right (Italy joining the allies quickly to distract Germany and Austria, Russia holding on until the US joins) the front line can go back and forth through the lowlands for years and years.

Edit: original Crusader Kings was also really fun to watch because empires fell apart so easily in that game. So many weird looking fractal Holy Roman Empires after ~50 years of game play.

So little is known about huge swathes of Europe at that time that it might as well be a fantasy game at that point.

Ah, so that's what Paradox is teaming up with White Wolf for.

"Our knowledge of Late Antiquity is scattered and fragmentary. Scholars and historians say it is because the breakdown of government structures produced a gap in written texts and records, but the Wise know better, though many wish otherwise. In the waning years of the Roman Empire horrors were unleashed upon the world, so terrible that the survivors collectively agreed it better to bury the knowledge of such times so that even their grandchildren would never know what had happened. But what did in fact happen? For the first time, Paradox Interactive is proud to present a game that lifts the veil and allow you to peer into the heart of madness with their new grand strategy game: Darkest Ages: The Fall. Projected release date 2018 Q4."

Actually the funniest thing would be if they released a game covering eu4 to hoi4 but called it something else and made it fun and accessible without ridiculous free market mechanics that drove all the turbo nerds mad because it wasnt victoria 3.

Edit: instead of free markets its about the death of autocracy and the era of revolution just not the industrial one.
