Don't worry, guys. CIG has this.

Sure, a community member managed to put together the pirate module for VS within a week of the leak without any of the in-house documentation, something CIG has been promising for 6 months, but they're totally competent. Just throw more money at it.

It's a cult, with more cult-like things and absolutely nothing to show for it. No game, no timeframes, nothing....

Holy gently caress what the gently caress is this?

I was on the fence about asking for a refund. I really wanted this game to be good and so I was trying to take the bad press in stride.

Then they banned Beer for posting on this forum. Dick move and very unprofessional but I held a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, CitCon would show something that would at least pretend to be progress.

That was absolutely horrible. The graphics are lackluster, they UI is glitchy, they can't even get dialog to sync up in their own demo, the ship models don't behave as intended (lol connie elevator). I can't believe anyone thought that was a good presentation but notacult I guess.

I put in for my refund. Hopefully the influx of cash from the recent CitizensConned will improve my chances.

I decided to browse the brown sea. A discussion of the progress made in the last year was brought up.

A poster linked the various tech demos (multicrew/fps/social) and said they are "playable."

"If they are playable," I inquired, "then why aren't they released?"

He informed me that that's not what "playable" means as he saw a person "play" them once.

I feel like I'm debating a new age feminist who is changing the definitions of words to fit their agenda. I give up.

Longer answer:

-They have repeatedly missed deadlines by 6-12 months
-They have repeatedly broken promises concerning the nature of pledging/pledge ships
-They have show little to no progress in actual development work
-Their latest reveal, CitizenCon, which happened yesterday, featured a buggy unplayable mess that was somehow praised by the brainwashed cult community
-Chris Roberts is hell-bent on making a movie rather than a video game
-Play Pulsar: Lost Colony, Angel's Fall First, Elite: Dangerous, literally any game other than this.

Erenthal posted:

I sort of raised the point earlier, when I mentioned that the call of "It's not DLC!" often rings out when you discuss the coming (heh) in-game economy.

Okay, so it's not DLC and you will be easily able to aquire the ship that comes with the 2500$ pledge through in-game actions. But this makes no sense. The only loving reason you would plunk down 2500 in cash is that you perceive it to grant you a coming advantage. Don't give me that poo poo about "I'm investing in the dream, the ship is just a bonus". You specifically gave them a shitload of cash to fly around in a overpowered deathship pouncing on pubbies, and I can only imagine the wounded howls of thousand of borderline retard whales if it turned out that you can easily earn their precious mega-ships ingame by just playing normally.

If, and by that I mean never, when the game is released, a real money to ship shop will be 100% guaranteed at launch, or just after.

I'll bite.

The reason I put down way too much money on this game is not that I believed any ship to be "better" but that it would fill a role I would enjoy. I tend to have more money than time and even though I was fully aware that it would take "approximately a week" of playtime to earn the Constellation I still bought it for the $300 or so dollars it was.

I didn't want to be better, I wanted to be able to enjoy the game without grinding it. I enjoyed my days of 80hr per week WoW and I remember them fondly, but I have a job now and I can't farm runecloth until 5am on a Tuesday.

On top of that I wanted this game to come out. I still do. It seems like everything I've wanted in a game; and since numerous competing titles that I enjoy have come out with the same features, it appears I am right.

The "pledge" was to help make the game and to cut out a little bit of the grind that it would take me to get up and running.

Ofc, after CitCon I immediately put in for a refund. Hopefully I'm not too late.

E:D bores many people but at least it's a game. Star Citizen is delayed tech demo after delayed tech demo. The didn't release anything in the stream they haven't shown before.

There has been no discernible progress in the project. Most (if not all) of us want the game to be great but the issue is that they're not working towards that goal. They're trying to make a movie. And it's showing.
