after the layoff of the 2 community staff members goons got crazy. Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between them and Manzes. I liked to read the SA forums for amusement and hell they have some funny folks over there but after that day it is just pure toxic. What I don't understand is, why "leaking"/ hinting stuff to DS? They are not pleased and want to troll CIG, fine by me but lately they really lost it. I think I am gonna forward this to the community team, at least they should know with what a mindset they are dealing (although I guess they already know)

Matilda2013 posted:

This hugbox is one of the most critical communities I ever saw. The problem is that people tend to forget that the main reason we are here is, that we all want to be here. To be positive about a project doesn't make everyone stupid. We are talking about 800k people here most of them with family and jobs. And just because we don't tear this all apart when a madman like DS shows up without any evidence and credibility people are not blind. If there would be any real proof for criminal activities going on at CIG especially racism and fraud people would act accordingly. Until then most of the 800k don't even know about the drama and most of those who know don't care. That's just reasonable.

Rather convenient that someone takes screenshots of every conversation they have, from start to end, isn't it? That took over a year from the alleged incident to show up? ...and that's not a log. That's fabricated screenshots. Big difference.

I have no clue what he's talking about. Why would someone write out five pages of autistic weirdness? How did they manage to copy his verbose, weird, WEIRD writing style? Why would someone photoshop a log to make it seem older (the stalker created the fake chat log a year ago, but didn't want to release it?) If someone did photoshop the logs, why would they ever write anything like that and not just him dropping an n-bomb or something more sensational? It's bizarre.
With all of the weird poo poo Wulf was spewing, it would have been odd not to record it for posterity.

In my opinion, because it's crowd funded, which has never been done for a project of this caliber. People just don't know what to expect, and a lot of gamers, unfortunately, can be pretty cynical. This is a pretty special community where people are kind, positive, and very generous, but I don't think it reflects the attitude of most gamers.

If they manage to make their death mechanics they way they will, I will be less inclined to needlessly take a character's life. Now, battle has its consequences, and we can't always manage to disable a ship without killing, but if chance has it that I've disabled your ship in combat, I'll probably leave you be.

Reasons? I don't know... karma? honor? making new friends? recruiting for the org?

I'm usually a pacifist, so if you're fighting me, you most likely started it, or got too close to the ship I'm escorting. I won't pull my punches when I have to fight, and will not hesitate to kill. However, if I take out your thrusters or some other essential component of your ship, and can let go of the trigger long enough to realize - you can go free.

For me, disabling your ship is as much (or more) of a victory than finishing you off in cold blood. It means you're sitting there thinking about what you did, rather than recovering with a cyborg arm, vowing to return the favor.

Now that the Vanduul are crawling up our asses, human life - any human life - is too precious to end unless it's used taking out the invading scum.

(Now... say som'n 'bout my momma tho... I'll EVA into yo' cockpit and cut yo' mu'fukin bitchass throat!)

Stop the armchair psychology you make me sick! People are not going to kill themselves if the project fails, people harming themselves have always a long histor of mental problems. Always! He and his retarded fuckers at SA have not the slightest clue of what they are talking. But they may be even more responsible for someone committing suicide than CIG or Sandi. They are bullies, cyberstalking dipshits who are going after certain people as long as they think it is funny.

Explosions and Escape pods in Everyday life posted:

Here's a thing that concerns me and I haven't really found an answer for. Perhaps you can shine some light on this?

We know some ships have escape pods we can use to save our bottocks if defecation gets real. Some are nearer, some might be further away in your ship. The thing that worries me is do we have enough time/the chance to actually use them?

These pods are (obviously) to save your life, so there are a few scenarios you could think of you could use them as such. For example you are being boarded by pirates/bounty hunters, but you have no possibility to fight back. Another scenario. You are the pilot and after a short but intense fight your ship is damaged by enemy fire beyond repair; your ship might explode every second now and take you with it. Lets take this last one.

First thing that concerns me is the 'seating' animation. It looks very nice and is sometimes even neccessary to get you in certain sections of your ship. However, to me it feels very slow if you'd be in the midst of a situation and need to get out of there ASAP. If you make your decision to abandon ship too late, you are wasting critical seconds here and you'd likely be done for.

Furthermore, from the footage of ship explosions you can get an estimate from the critical 'Point Of No Return' (the electrical feedback that passes through the entire ship uncontrollably) to the actual 'now-your-ship-is-gone' explosion. It gives you something like 15-20 seconds (guesstimate?) between those two occurrences to make a final escape.

You don't want to give up on your beloved ship (and crew+cargo for that matter!) when you can still fight, which means that untill you haven't reached this 'PONR' there is still hope. I can imagine being in the midst of the fight, adrenaline rushing through your entire body, that you'll easily miss this short window by combinations of being in survival mode and delay in awareness.

When do you make the conscious choice that fighting is no longer an option, that you HAVE to evacuate? Does the ship give you a signal? Even then, do we have enough time to actually evacuate? Should we have faster 'escape' animations? Or did I miss some things completely? To me this is a pretty critical game mechanic, since if there is no way to survive in the first place, it takes away all hope and with it quite some intense fun.

How do you guys experience it? I'd like your input on this :)

Travelling times and integrated browser posted:

submitted 1 day ago by skalibran

Hey there!

I wonder how long the travelling times between systems are. Is it like Elite Dangerous where I jump from a galaxy to another galaxy in a few seconds?

I'm asking because do you know what could be really cool? Set a destination that takes - lets say an hour. You activate the autopilot, go into the back of your ship where a friend is already sitting on a small couch. You turn on the small TV in front of you and navigate through an integrated web browser to netflix to watch something (a friend of you is sitting next to you, so don't use you...know what I mean...) while flying to your mission target.

What do you think? Do you prefer a few instant jumps like in E:D or do you prefer one jump that takes some time?

Looking forward a nice discussion!
