I'm wondering how the comic-book-show shuffle will play out this season. Last year, Arrow started out in the lead, coming off of a great second season, but pretty quickly got overtaken by Flash, which was strong from the start. Then Agents of SHIELD kicked it into high gear and took the lead, with Flash faltering a bit in the back end and Arrow just floundering to the point that even Gotham and Constantine were able to overtake it. And, of course, Daredevil just blew everyone away. But comic-book-show shuffle is an unpredictable phenomenon. Flash's season premiere was a bit iffy, but it might rally. Maybe Jessica Jones will be this year's flop, with Gotham taking the lead. Who knows? I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens this season.

I mean...this episode wasn't terrible, but everybody's stepping up their game so Flash and Arrow are going to have to quit resting on their Laurel if they wanna stay competitive.

Mr Beens posted:I still don't really get why they had to have the mock fight For the same reason that Barry didn't just tell Patty he was blind last episode: because it led to a fun, silly scene. Stop thinking of this show in terms of reality. It has no interest in being realistic or depicting true to life people making sensible decisions. The characters in The Flash are very obviously television characters, who make decisions that make no sense logically, but that lead to interesting, entertaining, or dramatic situations for the purposes of entertaining the viewer.

I dunno, I still like Flash and Arrow, but I find it hard to get really enthusiastic about them since Agents of SHIELD took the lead in terms of quality. That's the show I actually anticipate week to week, whereas Flarrow is kind of a duty-watch.

Whole lot happening in this episode, but the two things that stood out most for me were: - Neal McDonough was just having so much fun with his inconsequential little cameo. I love it when you can tell an actor is having an inordinately good time. - Ciara Renée has some insanely perfect eyebrows. They are hella on fleek.

I think the problem with this show (and, to a lesser extent, Arrow) is that the characters serve the plot too much. It's always been this way in the Flarrowverse; people doing things that are really stupid or out of character simply to move the plot where the writers want it to go. The dialogue and character relationships are usually great, but as soon as the plot demands it, everything takes a trip to Moronville. Rather than try to fix this, it looks like it's getting worse in Flash.
