https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlfZi1eq_88 I know someone personally who has 5,000 dumped into this garbage. I tried to explain to him at 250 it was a rip off and over the course of 3 years I guess they have suckered him into more. At first he called it an "investment", but I explained to him an investment entails some kind of return on his money. I explained to him refunds were entirely possible if you threaten a chargeback, but his faith in Chris Roberts hasn't wavered. Angry Joe is his primary source for video game reviews, and I finally made the connection tonight. The hiding purchases from spouse and neglecting household bills is a very real thing. All I can do is stand by and watch. For some reason Star Citizen is an all consuming thing with people. I am of the opinion that crowdfunding is poo poo and early access is toxic to video games as a whole. I hope Derek Smart burns CIG to the ground. I know this is going to sound condescending but I genuinely don't understand how anyone can see one of this guy's videos and not immediately go "Oh this is a channel for idiot children." I mean I'm no one to judge, I like video games and children's cartoons, but seriously- what about him says "Here is a credible source for news about your hobby?"

I'm so loving mad about that last Karl post that I'm going to give you all my apple pie recipe PIE CRUST A lot of people are scared of making pie crust from scratch. It is okay! You just have to remember one secret and your crust will come out flaky and moist and buttery, not heavy or chewy. The secret is that your butter has to be cold. This applies even once it is in the crust. Your dough will be a pain in the rear end to work regardless, but if you keep the dough cold you will be just fine. (Toss it in the fridge/freezer as you work it with your hands and it warms up; a double-crusted pie is nice for this because you can work one crust while the other chills again.) 2.5 cups flour 1 tbsp sugar 3/4 tsp salt 1 cup butter ~5 tbsp ice water Make some ice water. Remember: cold! Mix up your flour, sugar, and salt evenly. Take your butter out of the fridge and cut it into the dry ingredients. A couple of forks work okay for this if you don't have anything fancier. Try to touch the butter as little as possible with your hands. Keep cutting the butter into little chunks and mix it with the dry ingredients until everything has a roughly even, sandy texture. You can still have some bigger chunks of butter in there, but keep them to the size of a blueberry at absolute largest. Pea-size is better. Take your ice water and add it tablespoon by tablespoon, mixing in evenly, until a dough forms. Again - try to work it as little as possible - when you're done, it will be kind of annoying to get it into a ball, and some little pieces will be flaking off all over. That's cool. Just slap them onto the dough mass and go with it. Divide your dough into two rough balls, wrap in plastic wrap, pop them in the fridge for about half an hour. While that chills, you can make your APPLE PIE FILLING! ~6 Granny Smith apples (are there other kinds of green apples even?) 2 tsp lemon juice 2/3 cups brown sugar 1/4 cup white sugar (you can alter this blend of sugars to taste, this is just my personal preference; you can also add vanilla at this point if you want some. I like ~1 tsp of vanilla bean paste) 3 tbsp cornstarch 1 tsp cinnamon pinch nutmeg pinch salt Core apples and slice, mix dry ingredients, mix with apple slices and lemon juice (& vanilla if desired). Christ, wasn't that easier than the crust? Hahahaha sucker! Now it's crust time again! Seriously though, if you're patient, this isn't bad. Take a dough ball out. Start rolling it to a size that will overlap your pie pan reasonably (you'll need the overlap to make a nice sealed edge). When it gets warm and you can see/feel the butter starting to work fully into the dough, rather than remaining flaky and slightly lumpy, rewrap and put back in the fridge. Repeat with other dough ball. Repeat switching until both crusts are of a suitable size. Butter the pie pan, lay down the bottom crust, and make sure you have a nice even seal around the bottom and sides of the pan. Pour apple filling in. Add a few little dots of butter all around the top of the filling. Lay top crust over, and roll the overhang from both crusts into a cute little rim around the pie. Maybe you want to make a pattern with a fork, or use your thumb to make a wave pattern, or whatever. Go nuts. Once everything is sealed up nicely, cut vents in the top crust. You can do slits if you are boring. My mom always did heart-shaped vents so I usually include at least a couple. Maybe you can write a message if you are skilled with a knife! If you want the best, tastiest top crust, you should brush it with some milk and sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 minutes, then reduce the heat to 375 and let it go for about an hour longer. You'll know it's done when the juices are bubbling and everything inside has solidified into a bit more of a jelly than a loose pile of fruit. Oh, I almost forgot the most important step! poo poo! The absolute most important part of this recipe is, of course, GO gently caress YOURSELF, KARL

People have mentioned that departures are expected after the "holidays". Is this real and are we talking January? The part of me that wants some sort of success for this game keeps getting comprehensively beaten around the head by the assholes who are backing it. Soon my desire to see it burn will be the only thing left.

Could also have gone with 'I'm the 45 degrees turned shield display', a visualization that has front-shields in the top-left, and aft-shields in the bottom-right is really bad for snap judgements where to divert energy to shields. If they manage to make a fun mini-game of balancing shields this HUD is actively trying to work against you. As with a lot of things about Star Citizen it looks polished if you only take a quick glance. We call that 'Hollywood' at our company, lifted straight from the old westerns where towns usually just a bunch of facades. We make things like that for demo's and tradeshows where people have no time to actually see it's far from done or actually functioning, it's sole function is suggesting we have something. Diffirence is that we actually do implement it eventually. The term however seems extra relevant for CiG though.

Chalks posted:People have mentioned that departures are expected after the "holidays". Is this real and are we talking January? CIG normally closes for two weeks over Christmas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zQwHfszgLc&t=442s Above video shows them moving to the new Austin office in mid December 2013. If the Austin office is downsizing and moving as rumoured, this would be the mostly likely time for it to happen, especially if they had a yearly lease. CIG filmed something like 16 separate pieces of content at the Austin office recently, that content could easily be used to obscure the Austin move. Don't want tricky questions about Derek Smart predicting something that turned out to be true. Also if no attempt is going to be made to even pretend that Austin is a major studio internally anymore, this would be a good time to leave, if they hadn't already decided to redeploy your job to Manchester/Hollywood/Frankfurt.

Just been watching a Citizen stream the VERSE, and it's loving infuriating. Holy loving poo poo, I've never seen a game look so nice and crash so much. I feel sorry for the poor bastard trying to make a living streaming Star Citizen, god drat. Chris Roberts needs to fix this poo poo, given people have paid money to crash or to fail to login or given "servers full" errors. Or maybe (just maybe) if the game works getting teleported and then killed. And probably loving crashing again. Do the backers have the patience for this? Cause just watching what it's like was pretty loving bad. lol.

AP posted:5 days in November left. Assume 300k per day remaining, they'll likely do better but I do see possible early signs of internal morale failing, so very possible they don't have a nice video of the phoenix to show on Around the Verse and therefore gently caress this day's sale up. They'll break 5 million raised in November today, so did better over the weekend than I thought, they did keep refilling the 10,000 $30 game packages though. They did add an extra sale day as expected, still might "forget" to turn the sale off for a couple of days in December. Phoenix countdown tracker appears to be broken, possible they'll say they sold out as "sale went far better than expected". Should end the day a few hundred thousand short of 100 million, so they might do a flash sale or something stupid just to break it today, last day of sale so it's just possible they'll break 100 million anyway.
