in all honesty it IS closer to rubber dome than cherry switches but contrary to dell keyboards (some of which are p good for rubber dome imo) they are all identical and weighted also they switch around 60% travel as opposed to max-ish travel

I too am impoverished and can only afford a meager Filco Majestouch NKRO with Cherry MX blues, so I understand all too well what you're going through.
