im sure a lot of people wont be happy until multinational companies pay taxes to the country in which they are 'based' on any profit generated anywhere in the world, and also pay taxes in the countries that profit is generated. its almost like this sort of thing is complicated and cant really be explained easily.

Thanks Ants posted:im sure a lot of people wont be happy until multinational companies pay taxes to the country in which they are 'based' on any profit generated anywhere in the world, and also pay taxes in the countries that profit is generated. its almost like this sort of thing is complicated and cant really be explained easily. the us's obsession with taxation on worldwide income, while in some aspects is nobel because they really want to stop tax cheats, can get really really messy and stupid for individuals at least the IRS lets you exclude the first 100 grand of income and you can claim tax credits for any foreign taxes paid some states however hold really lol positions like maryland, which basically feels if there's even a possibility of you ever returning to maryland in the future, all your worldwide income while youre living abroad is subject to maryland income tax and its up to you to prove otherwise lol
