I am a bit confused about hybrid classes. Should I wait until I get a few skills in their base classes before I go into the hybrid class, or can I just get it right away?

EDIT: Also, is there a level cap?

Is there a difference between the PC and the ps4/xbone versions?

I am going to give the game yet another try. Just a few questions:

1. Is the Pawn system on PC completely borked. due to hacking, lack of activity, or whatever? I am wavering between starting up on PC again or getting the Switch version.

2. I always heard that the ending of the game was looney in the best way. I did hear of one aspect that may or may not be mentioned on this page. specifically in the last few posts (To be fair, I did have it spoiled years ago). My question is if there is other things that I may not know about the ending that still makes it a ride or if I am setting myself up for disappointment.

EDIT: I...hope that I did not come across as pissy

The ending is so hilariously insane that it'd be hard to spoil all of it.

That is very good to know. Thank you :)

Honestly I do not blame you; the statute of of limitations on spoilers on the game has long since run out (It was run out by the time I learned of that tidbit years ago). I was just under the impression that it was all there is until I thought to ask.

So I just got to Gran Soren and at around the time I left off the last time I tried the game. Just a few class questions:

1. Apparently I should not stick with one class too long? Like switch out every 10 levels or so?
2. Do I need to pay the Discipline cost every time I want to switch to a class?
3. What is the stat distribution like for the Strider and Ranger classes? I get Fighter and Mage are strength and magic respectively.

Uh you can stick to any class you want. Theres no reason to constantly switch

Discipline cost for switching classes is paid once. All subsequent switches to that class are free.

Strider has balanced stat growth between physical and magic while Ranger is a bit more physically oriented. Both only have physical attacks though.

I though it was said some pages ago that you shouldn’t stay in one class for too long

Not really? There are good augments you can get from other classes but if you're having fun being a Ranger there's no reason to switch to Sorcerer just because its been a few levels.

I feel weirdly gaslit here because I could have swore that was recommended when I last checked out the threat when someone asked about classes. Whatever, I will take your guys word for it.

The only thing about cross classing is that because your class determines your stats on level up, you'll be gimping yourself if you say play a warrior for 50 levels then decide to be a sorcerer. You'll only have 100 magic attack compared to 250 if you were a sorcerer instead.

I think that may have been what I was thinking of

EDIT: One more question: Is the OP still right about Escort Quests on the Notice Board and they should best be avoided?

Looking at the minimum CPU for DD2 is making me consider building a new CPU again: I have a RTX 3070, but I only have a Core i5-8400 which is getting long in the tooth. Still, it does run most everything mostly decently and RE Engine generally scales well, so maybe I will stick it out a bit more.

So I am in the Witchwood and found the Metal Golem. I am a Warrior with no levels whatsoever in Strider or Ranger and my pawn is a Sorcerer, same deal. That said, even if I get two bow pawns they don't seem to want to concentrate on that last disk in a tree. Is there a way to get them to pay attention to it, or am I better off getting a decent bow and I couple of levels as a Dexterity class and shooting the dang thing down myself?

Gicel does part physical damage and can take them out on your Sorc pawn, but if you've got ranged pawns that aren't attacking that might not matter much.

They are taking shots at it occationally but they do no appreciable damage to them, and they end up paying more attention to the Golem anyway.

In any case I saw that this particular quest does not have an expiration so I will put it on ice for now.

How? Because I don't know how to free aim with items and all the ledges around it that seem close and high enough I can not climb up on.

I am sorry I don't mean to be a jerk about this. I feel like I am legit missing something.

While I appreciate the original intent and was trying to avoid using it, the Eternal Ferrystone is very tempting now that we are little more than a week from release of the sequel.

it'll turn out warrior is still ineffective in general and pawns suck at shooting down enemies, and so you go wayfarer so you can pack a bow to shoot harpies and harpy related enemies

edit: didn't mean for this to sound so negative. i am excited for dragons dogma

I don't think Warrior is bad but I am ready to hop on anything else after I get to Rank 10 on it.

Learning that you need to let go of the charge when you flash during the Lash skill helps. Pommel strike too.

Is Nameless Terror worth doing? I know it leads to another quest but running around at night, even if I look up where to go, sounds like kind of a pain in the rear end to me.

EDIT: One more question: If I want to play as Assassin, should I gain some levels as Strider and/or Ranger first?

Some people actually level nothing but assassin even when they intend to play something else for the max physical attack. If you want to dip into another class for a particular augment that's fine, but don't worry about stat gains.

For me it is less about optimizing and more about drifting between classes once I reach max rank to see how they play, but yeah :v:

I thought I saw in the OP that if you want to play as Mystic Knight you should play as mage for a few levels so I was wondering if that applied to the other classes.

EDIT: Having said all that I am also tempted to switch back to fighter because I miss my Sword and Board.

So, big rear end spoilers for the end of the game here:

So I beat the dragon, but the credits cutscene seemed to skip mid credit roll, during the long walk back to Cassidarus. Did it show anything additional that is important, aside from the stuff before the credits rolled? In any case, got started on the post game quest.

No joke, I stopped by to ask the same thing because I just had that happen to me not two hours ago. It really put a damper on moving into the post-game content. The first cutscene froze and 30 or so sec later took me to a loading screen where the subtitles played for the next scene, but then it also froze. Gotta watch em on youtube I guess. At least the game didn't softlock.

I would but I would rather not spoil any other surprises, if it can be helped. :(

And that is the game well done and dusted. ENDING THOUGHTS. HUGE rear end SPOILERS.

I FUCKIN MEAN IT. BALLS BALLS BALLS BALLS. Teenage existentialist edgelord me probably would have been very fond of that you give the ultimate middle finger towards god and creation for forcing you on an adventure you never asked for to groom you for a position you never wanted, while giving the friend that has been with you thick and thin throughout a chance for a normal life. Heck, still kind of do.
