Origin has a rotating free game. I've gotten Peggle, one of the classic C&C games, and a few others from it. You have to install and use Origin, but hey, free games

Has anyone tried playing Steep through Uplay? It was free back in January on Epic. The game seems super buggy and unusable with a gamepad. Buttons sometimes don't respond, and sometimes buttons trigger an action from a different mode of the game: for example, when you're in the menu, pressing RB/LB to switch to a different UI tab can trigger the in-game action associated with those buttons. I tried messing around with controls settings but I couldn't get it to not be completely broken.

GoNNER is pretty fun (from Epic store). It's a bit of a more action-oriented Spelunky. I don't know if there is an overall structure to playthroughs or if it goes on forever, but the combat mechanics are fun and it has a cool visual style. It also doesn't go out of its way to explain all the bigger game mechanics, but after half an hour I easily picked figured out a bunch of them, and it was enjoyable to puzzle them out.

As someone who has never played any pinball simulator, except years ago when I tried that open source one, FX3 surprised me with its level of realism. It feels a lot closer to a real table compared to most video game pinballs.

The Xbox game pass (like Netflix but for games) is in beta on PC and you can get a trial month for $1. Yeah, it's not free, but it's a lot of top tier stuff for the price.

You just click the "buy" button and it adds it to your library permanently. You don't have to download it until you want to play it.
