Considering the level of parodyverse we are already operating on I would not be surprised if a burgeoning tech industry "inventing" communism the same way Elon Must "invented" the idea of moving people in underground tunnels and Lyft "invented" the idea of moving groups of people togeather in a single vehicle on a fixed schedule

Little Witch Academia is a socialist allegory for the whole family.

What do I mean?

Imagine, if you will, an antagonistic force that accumulates by exploiting the energies of the people, without them even being aware of it. This exploitation erodes their lived experiences to the point that tensions between nations are heightened over trivial affairs, until they're eventually on the brink of war. This force is driven by innovations in technology that allow it to undermine, and eventually supplant traditional forms of power. Eventually it accumulates so much power that it grows beyond the control of its own architect and threatens the entire world. This force is eventually defeated by a protagonist who has overcome aristocratic prejudice, and class antagonisms who - with the aid of her comrades and the conscious efforts of the world's masses - transforms this antagonistic force into a power which rejuvenates the world and realizes the potential for a brighter future.

This isn't a joke. That's literally what happens.

One could argue without the USSR to act as a boogeyman capital in the west no longer has something to point at and scare people away from leftism which is why younger generations are starting to really demand alternatives to capitalism. Looking at the USSR's failures/successes to learn from is good but any successor would be radically different simply due to modern communications. The next lenin will be reaching a much wider audience.

lol that owns, another story my father has is the senator he was with was convinced that they (the government) had put a fake owl in his room to record him (since it's head was turning to observe things) so he orders my dad to check it only for it to turn out to be a real owl. apparently it was a sign of respect to give the visiting senator a room with a live owl in it

This whole display is really surreal. Par for the course according to history but it's another thing to witness it in real time.

1. Recognize some fascist loser instead of Maduro
2. People come out to the streets to support Maduro, their actual president
3. Media goes "look guys, they're flooding the streets to protest Maduro's regime!", even though in the pictures and videos almost everyone is wearing red, and "Crisis deepens over Venezuelan presidential row" not mentioning that the "row" is completely manufactured by the US
4. Entire political establishment goes "this is horrible, we have to do something!"
5. ??? (materiel support for violent coup, invasion, we'll see).

And all unfolding in a matter of hours, carefully orchestrated between the government and media.

At least according to some reporters on the ground in Venezuela for years, the military are almost universally Chavistas so a coup would probably fail badly.

Whats going to be interesting is the U.S. military is stretched thin in a way that it really hasn't been in the past wrt our dumb Vietnam-esque adventures. The funneling of money away from recruiting/staffing means doing poo poo like supporting coups depends a lot on allies/raw money because we literally do not have the manpower to do another Libya or Iraq. The air force is short thousands of pilots, the Army can't hit recruiting goals, the navys ships are all running on skeleton crews.

And even fat bitch isn't dumb enough to bring back the draft so lol

In the space of 6 months my dad has radicalized a lot, with convos like this

quote:

Dad: So Commissar Alex what should we do to those guys? points at payday loans place
Me, Jokingly: Rehabilitation through hard labor in the gulag
Dad, completely seriously: No, they get the wall

and today he was so angry about Howard Shultz decided to run that he called me literally spitting mad saying we have to crush him and every other billionaire into dust

For some perspective he worked in the Reagan white house, so he's made a very long ideological journey over the course of his life.

Democratic socialists are either proletarians who are not yet sufficiently clear about the conditions of the liberation of their class, or they are representatives of the petty bourgeoisie, a class which, prior to the achievement of democracy and the socialist measures to which it gives rise, has many interests in common with the proletariat. It follows that, in moments of action, the communists will have to come to an understanding with these democratic socialists, and in general to follow as far as possible a common policy with them – provided that these socialists do not enter into the service of the ruling bourgeoisie and attack the communists. It is clear that this form of co-operation in action does not exclude the discussion of differences.
