Berserker's do look weird as hell in this game. They look like roided up old nekkid dudes. Muton's origionally looked human-ish so I dont mind Slender Mutons.

I went gently caress it and started a new playthrough, this time learning from past mistakes and actually researching correctly. Also since I didn't do the tutorial this time It just let me choose people, which is neat. Went Progeny first and laughing at how much easier the final level for that was compared to the bullshit of Coil's, and how they were such dumbasses about their plan. Zephyr having a move thats essentially just Curly Howard going apeshit saying nothing but woowoowoowoowoo and knocking things on their head is hilarious.

Oh, investigations can actually change on when you start them I guess. Im on 3rd with Coil this time and the final room there is the 1st room now without the main guy. Naturally it glitched out and I couldnt finish it after I cleared the room for some reason. Guessing killing an android then it's explosion killed my nearby hacked android who also exploded messed the game up.

By the way Is Improvised Explosives glitched? Because Claymore wasn't recovering a grenade a lot of the time after encounters. He sometimes would but a lot of times wouldn't.

Beat game last night, then started a new one because I have unfinished buisness with Coil 1st. So did it again and kinda stomped it this time, bullshit room included. Patchwork is really good guys

BobTheJanitor posted:That ending scene was so vague as to be essentially nothing. The big reveal is... no one we've seen before, in shadows, making vague hints that war is coming. Like, yeah, no poo poo, this is Xcom, war is always coming. Maybe they didn't have the plot of 3 nailed down enough yet to be able to do anything more interesting with it. I'd be a bit surprised if future games make any reference to that ending at all. Maybe 3 is gonna bring back Apocalypse Organizations or something along those lines, except make them actually work correctly.

Coil's definitely the hardest first because Robutt units, Guardians, and final room is a bitch if not fully prepared. Also makes some units kind of harder to use(Torque gets a bit kneecapped due to poison not working on robutts, Zephyr takes damage if killing a primed android, and Verge straight up sucks in it). Patchwork kind of annihilates the whole org though. It's hilarious how much easier it is when you use her in it.

I cant see any best starting team not having both specialists in it. Terminal too stronk and Patches too useful.

Im doing impossible right now and it starts pretty much about as hard as Classic in EU was except with notably less RNG fuckery. Infact the RNG in this game is less out to purposely screw you over, still does sometimes because X-com. Started on Gray Phoenix with Torque/Claymore/Patches/Terminal and had to put Torque on Anarchy duty on ops because it does build up eventually, then to farm some free teams. Blueblood substituted, and went to Coil 2nd. Been going smoothly right after I beat Phoenix. Too bad I missed buying the Moltile inducer, dunno if it comes back. Claymore Explode everything or make enemies run into others like morons. He's also pretty tanky. And yeah Zephyr kinda falls off. Still can do damage but not like she would in the beggining.

While continuing my impossible run, Axiom was so awesome he counter attacked an Archon and it crashed the game.

Alrighty finished impossible. Really wasn't that much different from hard aside the more brutal beginning like every newer X-com. It was more that some stuff got more annoying like reinforcements coming sooner. Still it was probably the easiest X-com overall since things could go south fast in 2 while it had a harder beggining, and Apocalypse still had UFO fights posing a threat and your uber units could get cheesed by Dimension or Entropy Launchers and Brainsuckers . I think if I were to rank Chimera Squad in how good they are as units it'd be: Terminal > Patchwork > Blueblood > Claymore > Torque > Axiom > Godmother > Zephyr > Shelter > Verge > Cherub

Terminal isnt top just because of her healing. Its the combination of healing, giving a free turn to anyone, an extremely potent delay that works on everything, an extra utility slot to carry 3 of grenade/ammo/Motile/Disc , mitigation on demand, and having access to one of the most potent DPS moves in Guardian. She brings so much stuff to the table that she just fits in perfectly in any situation while always being useful.

juggalo baby coffin posted:the way the pods work in these games really sucks rear end. it forces you to basically metagame all the time if you dont wanna be punished for getting too much line of sight on the map. in the classic xcoms it was always better to be able to see something than not, cause the aliens were always there and doing stuff, whether you could see them or not. I do miss Free Firing, just shooting walls to make new paths was neat. The pods do make it feel formulaic, and if your unlucky enough to trigger a second (or more) pod then it just sucks/becomes a shitshow so your ymmv. Course thats why Reapers are kinda busted. Just being able to scout out pod patrols and delete them before they get a turn. Hell just being able to scout in general is kinda busted. Same thing Warcraft 1 and 2 had back then too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ttggec6eJFY This wouldve been an awesome cartoon. Terror from the Deep or Declassified is probably the most serious it ever was and TFTD still had that cartoony goofy vibe just a very creepy one, and no one wants to acknowledge Declassified.
