There's a lot of other smaller stuff, but I'm not sure if it's any worse than other restaurant chains. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism.

The main thing I remember Sir Jimmy John doing was big game hunting, because even a couple of non-politicals or Republicans I know (who overlooked the other stuff) were kind of pissed about it. However, not only does that fella not own the company anymore, he also claims he hasn't hunted big game since 2004 or something.

As a very small child, I thought my choice of Subway sandwich (ham, lettuce, bell pepper, and mustard) was the best food ever. As I grew up, I realized the sandwiches weren't that good; it was kid-me learning that I just really liked mustard. :P Also, I later learned that I actually don't like ham...I just couldn't taste it through all the mustard.

I'm surprised the whole "Is it tuna?!" scandal wasn't posted here, but it looks like there may have been some confusion on the results of that test, so...who knows? I've seen reports from "it's not tuna at all" to "it's not sustainable tuna" to "it's canned tuna", so...

I also don't trust tuna salad from fast food joints, so.....at least the good news from this is that Subway is considering having more fake-meat options. I'd eat some vegan meatballs from Subway before I'd eat the real ones.

They just opened up a White Castle here in Orlando, and it's the first White Castle in Florida in 50 years or something. For almost two months now it consistently has hour+ waits. For the first month, often two hours. It's hilarious to me because White Castle is only good if it's late night, you're drunk or high, and you can get it within minutes in the drive through. I can't imagine what people are thinking after waiting that long for garbage stoner food.

That's extra strange, because there's a southern chain called Krystal that's basically just White Castle (source: friend who has eaten at both several times...I've never seen a White Castle). I would assume Florida has 'em too?

Here's a semi-interesting map....blue are White Castle, red are Krystal, and purple has both.

SweetMercifulCrap! posted:

They're slightly different. Krystal burgers taste a little more like standard McDonalds burgers, have mustard, and aren't steamed. White Castle sliders have a more pronounced oniony taste, no mustard, and are steamed which gives them this intentionally soggy feel.

You sure? I could swear Krystal burgers are steamed too, they're also fairly soggy.

I know the main difference is White Castle has those chicken rings, but those freak me right the gently caress out, so I would never try one myself.

Yeah, I'm definitely no stranger to processed mystery meats (I love Slim Jims) and will even eat some McNuggets every so often, but something about it being chicken in a ring shape makes my brain reject everything about it. I think it's because it reminds me of calamari (which I hate).

Part of the problem is that porn consumers are a lot more likely than average to claim that they didn't authorize the purchase and make chargeback requests, which causes expenses for the payment processors.

Yeah, from what I hear, it's this. Many consumers are either consciously being assholes (purposefully purchasing the porn, busting a nut, and then doing a chargeback to get free porn) or are folks who buy genuinely intending to "keep" the product but then have to do a chargeback because a spouse/partner/guardian finds out and gets upset.

I'm seeing conflicting info on whether this is the case. However, this WAS a real interesting read!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exodus_Cry

I'm sure this isn't helping: Looks like an investigation was done, and it seems OF will bend its moderation rules if the uploader in question is popular (aka making them more money).

https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-58255865

quote:

We obtained several differently-dated versions of the same 2021 document. All, except the oldest, state there should be at least five examples of "illegal" content on an account for it to be "escalated" immediately to management. Later versions from this summer include an apparently contradictory statement requiring immediate management referral for some examples of illegal content.

The document also gives moderators specific instructions for dealing with accounts - depending on how popular each one is. It says accounts with higher numbers of subscribers can be given additional warnings when rules are broken.

However, staff are told to moderate accounts with low user numbers "as we would and [restrict] when necessary". With middle range accounts, they are told to warn, "but only restrict after the 3rd warning". If one of the site's most successful - and lucrative - creators breaks the rules, the account is dealt with by a different team.

"There is a discrimination between accounts," says Christof. "It shows money is the priority." The second moderator says that with violations of any kind, "You get a few warnings, you don't just get the one warning and then you're off."

Edit: Whoops, this was mentioned upthread! Couldn't remember which thread it was posted in.

A bombshell BBC investigation on OnlyFans just dropped, and it seems like the company made it recent announcement in response to the looming release of this investigation.
