I'll be amazed honestly if IOI manages to get through this cycle without succumbing to the hoary fist of WBGames' abhorrent DLC needs. There's already a preorder for 2 additional maps but honestly that's pretty tame compared to WB-published stuff in the last few years.

The minimum system requirements on the Steam store page still lists a 60gb install, which is interesting.

I hope they’re able to bring over Season 1 maps for physical owners, I jumped into the game with the season 1 steelbook.

Well this is weird. I was considering getting Hitman 2 for PC, but now I think I will get it on PS4 for the Hitman 1 levels. I got the first one or two episodes on PC, but really started getting into it on PS4 after I got the complete collection (It was on sale and I was trying to justify the value of the PSPro and the 4K TV I just got ). Honestly, aside from not having too many hotbuttons and aiming (Which was alleviated a bit by turning down aiming sensitivity, and really going guns blazing is the worst way to play this game, for me anyway), it plays just fine on console. I just hope that none of the Hitman 2 engine changes completely break the Hitman 1 levels.

I'm always looking for an excuse to replay Hitman S1 so this is excellent news. Now if they could just announce S2 is getting rid of the "always online" crap I'd be golden.

I wonder what the "new" progression system is? I'm hoping for a return to a Blood Money style system where you get "paid" based off of how well you pull off the assassination and then you just buy the rewards you want. Like what we have now, I guess, except not linear. I hate hate hate the linear unlocks. I really want the electric lockpick/keycard bypass but I hate the idea of replaying Colorado over and over.

Ooh they've mentioned combat improvements. I hope they spice up the gunplay a bit, it would be rad if they made the shooting a bit more competent so you can John Wick your way through levels when you feel like it. The ragdolls already feel great and the weapons are satisfyingly deadly, really all they need to do is improve the handling a little bit. I only got into this game this year so this is probably old news, but I'm really digging the elusive contracts. Can't think of anywhere else in modern games where you get that sense of genuine tension - can't save, can't reload etc. And it's hilarious how you can know a level inside out but because you don't know this target, you still have to improvise and gently caress up. Just now I did the Bookkeeper, assumed from the briefing he would come up to Rose's office at some point so I spawned as a hacker and took out nearly everyone on the top floor to await him. He took foreeeeever but then eventually did come up and I was waiting outside the window of Rose's office again (and there's that tension, having no idea whether the bodyguard team will follow him in or wait outside)... and then he just went and saw the hackers and left again. So I tailed him around the compound, eventually making a move at the explosives area by chucking a bit of nitrogylcerin over the hay bales. Missed, had to gun down him and his entire team and the explosives specialists down, then scarper out the back gate while the alarms were going. 11 non-targets dead, recorded by cameras, alerts, etc - but he's dead, which is more than I can say for most of these I've tried. These contracts are great gameplay experiences.

The Bookkeeper was the only ET I missed the first time around. Very glad I got a chance to go through it again. Picked up another Silent Assassin for my trouble. I'm now 100% on ETs and 3 out of 4 for SAs. Bring on Season 2!

I completed the Bookkeeper the first time around, but lost the SA rating due to my own idiocy getting caught in the safe room, when 95% of the difficulty of the mission was the kill itself. This time around I got to try it again on my alt account, and it felt satisfying pulling it off the proper way, if only to prove to myself I could do it. Only missing The Pharmacist and Gary Busey and I'll have all the ETs done.

I don't think Busey is coming back, though I wanna say with the remaining ETs they should line up perfectly with the release of S2 which is kinda cool. Now that I've gotten every outfit it is fun to just wing it on the ETs and hope for the best rather than going for SA. I'm definitely sniping the current one from that watertower; its baffling that they set up the perfect sniper spot and then had a level where all the nornal targets are obscured by something 80% of the time.

Question about one of the Colorado opportunities: what is the point of the opportunity involving Ezra? To keep him out of the basement and in his garage lab? The opportunity track points toward his garage shack to get the basement key and it is easy enough to clear it out and/or create a kill trap without doing the extra poo poo in the basement. Unless I am doing it wrong it is easily the most pointless, redundant opportunity I have seen in the game so far

I guess it means you get to see his interrogation and learn a bit more about what's going on with the Providence plot. It really is trivial to just set up something deadly in his lab though.

Well I found that he won’t turn on his Bunsen Burner until you OD the captive. Still lame. Colorado is fun but there is a good reason why they ditched 4 targets on a map almost immediately.

I feel like 2 targets is the best number in most situations. Having 2 means you can't just gimmick one target and run away, you have to actually be able to continue the mission after the first kill. It does a lot to enforce stealth and creative solutions. More than 2 and you start running into limits to how many options you get on each target. Colorado is special because it's also the only map with no civilian social stealth at all, which makes it feel even worse with all the targets. To me, Sapienza would be perfect if there was a couple more ways to get the targets out of the villa/scientific compound and into the city proper. The virus has always annoyed me though. There's not enough options for taking it out, so despite having a huge, glorious map, you always end up being funelled into that drat cave.

It takes a bit of practice to dial in the positioning, but you can trigger the stalactite to destroy the virus from the garage using the explosive phone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSZMBLtNBRw&t=90s

I killed the Bookkeeper really easily by spooking him into escaping and then blowing up his vehicle with a remote charge.. Nearly messed the entire thing up trying to destroy security camera footage, when the game triggered the wrong dude (from three rooms away?) to investigate me switching off the servers. Got caught but ran for the exit. Pretty annoyed about that.

Even if you start in the lab and take out the virus first to try and have more freedom, Desantis will come down to the lab anyway, further handcuffing your options. It's a good thing there are so many other ways to play Sapienza, including the bonus missions, because otherwise the main story mission would have killed how great the map is overall.

Yeah Sapienza feels like a map they built specifically for ETs/Contracts because there is a TON of basically unused space when it comes to the primary targets.

Can’t believed I am questioning this now that I am just about to start Hokkaido, but what defines ‘No bodies’? Non target bodies are definitely not allowed to be found, but targets seem a bit wobbly. Do they not count if they are accident or unnoticed kills?

Accident and poison kills are (outside of some bugs and edge cases) ok to be found. Also Hokkaido is weid in that Soders doesn't count as a body so you can c4 him and no one cares
