https://twitter.com/RPGSite/status/710256722917531649 VLR I can see working, but there's gonna have to be a lot of work done on a Steam 999 unless they just use the iOS version.

Now I don't know whether to get ZTD on 3DS or Steam. I guess if I got it on 3DS, I'd never have to put it down. But man, the thought of hooking up an HDMI to my laptop and playing Zero Escape on my TV....

HelloWinter posted:This is just me throwing dumb non-based theories but I really want to believe that this Zero could be Santa from 999. At the end of the trailer, the Zero proclaims that the actions that will take place will decide the fate of the cast, the world, and himself. It almost makes me want to believe that Zero is trying his best to induce Esper voodoo to save the world. Why Santa though? Because this wouldn't have been the first time that he organizes this sort of thing. Well, I reviewed the VLR Answers and Uchikoshi said we'd find out what Snake and Santa were up to between 999 and VLR here.

Well, VLR and ZE3 were supposed to be developed immediately one after the other, so I wouldn't be surprised if Uchikoshi already had even just the basic story details for ZTD down when making VLR.

My advice to other fans would actually be to avoid all these speculative pages, because some of the theories are correct. Irony Be My Shield posted:Has there been any official word on why they decided to go ahead and make the game after shelving it? I got the impression it was due to overseas enthusiasm but I'm not sure. That's exactly it. There was enough fan outcry for Spike Chunsoft to act, and the fact that they're more tailoring this release for the western market seems to show that, because the series has always been way more popular overseas than it has been in Japan.

Your Dunkle Sans posted:I find it fascinating how "in your face" the violence and danger and the urgency in 999 was while the same was a lot more restrained and muted but still present in VLR. It was a different kind of danger. This was actually a response to Japanese audiences not being fans of the gore in 999, so VLR toned the horror elements down and pretty much just made it straight sci-fi. And ZTD's bringing it back.

Uchikoshi said in the VLR Answers that we would find out what Santa and Snake are up to in ZTD, and considering that since the games were supposed to be developed one after another and he probably already had a lot of ZTD written, that it'll be the same.

I remember playing 999 for the first time when I was on a long plane ride and I got my first ending, which was the coffin end, and when I saw TO BE CONTINUED, it took all of my energy to not yell WHAT THE gently caress right on that plane.

Hobgoblin2099 posted:There's at least one point in MGS3 where Naked Snake (or someone) has set up bombs and Volgin launches into this huge speech about what the secret of the Philosopher's Legacy is, even though Snake has no idea what it is and isn't even looking for it. Naturally, someone ends up stealing it after his exposition. There's also the point where he's torturing Snake for information, but Snake is actually the one learning stuff about the Legacy.

Ventana posted:But it will hurt early sales projections and results which generally a lot of people look towards for success (even if it is misguided). You don't have to buy it now, but for a smaller game like this it probably will at least have some impact. It's not like it's going to affect the series, because it's over. There's no ZE4 to cancel.
